AMC Networks debuted Interview with the Vampire, the first series in the Anne Rice Immortal Universe in October of 2022. Three months later, Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches premiered, and now AMC has announced a third upcoming series.
Anne Rice’s The Talamasca (which is a working title) is set to debut in 2025, and it focuses on a group of people who track and hold vampires, witches, werewolves and the like all over the world. More of AMC's extensive Anne Rice Universe is on the way. During the latest episode of Interview with the Vampire season 2, AMC released a brief teaser for the upcoming sophomore season of its other notable Rice series, Mayfair Witches, based on the Lives of the Mayfair Witches book series.
But before you get too excited, the teaser is just that, a teaser, and a brief one at that. It doesn't give anything away about the show's second season, only confirming that it will be released in 2025.
As you can see, the clip is only 15 seconds long and just includes a few little quotes like, "the legacy continues," and "embrace the darkness."
Some spoilers ahead for the end of Mayfair Witches season 1.
When we last saw Dr. Rowan Fielding (Alexandra Daddario), she had finally begun to embrace her power and authority as the new reigning designee of the Mayfair family.

Good afternoon Insiders, Jesse Whittock back again to take you through the week’s news in the entertainment industry, as the Cannes Film Festival nears its close.
What More Cannes I Say?
Stand up for the standouts: After a quiet opening, the Cannes Film Festival received a shot of life as several buzzy titles finally hit the screen. The excitement on the ground began with The Substance, the much-anticipated blood-splattered horror thriller from French director Coralie Fargeat, which was met with a 13-minute ovation, the longest for a title at this year’s festival until Gilles Lellouche’s Beating Hearts (L’Amour Ouf) took that crown last night. Fargeat’s pic, which stars Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley and Dennis Quaid, is a punk rock fable centered around a new product called The Substance that promises to transform people into the best version of themselves. It’s an offer that comes with a twist.

Netflix has acquired the legal drama “Monsanto,” a buzzy package from this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
John Lee Hancock directed the movie, which stars Glen Powell, Anthony Mackie and Laura Dern.
“Monsanto” tells the true story of young upstart lawyer Brent Wisner (Powell), who took on the court case against the giant U.S. chemical company Monsanto on behalf of Dewayne “Lee” Johnson (Mackie). During the trial, Monsanto Company’s chief toxicologist Dr. Melinda Rogers (Dern), testifies that Roundup is safe. Hancock also wrote the screenplay with Michael Wisner, Alexandra Duparc.
“I was drawn to this contemporary David vs. Goliath true story because I found it dramatic, moving, quite funny and of critical importance in today’s world,” Hancock said prior to the film’s sale.

A year removed from the start of the WGA strike, we’re just starting to see what recovery looks like. It’s rough: TIFF and AFM were disappointing, and Berlin didn’t offer many appealing talent packages. Projects are taking a long time to come together, if they’re happening at all.
However, Cannes may offer a silver lining: The post-strike market may mean a decline in the annual onslaught of trade announcements for movie projects that go nowhere.
“There’s still a lag in the marketplace where stuff isn’t filming; that’s going to affect what’s going on in production right now,” said one domestic sales agent. “During the WGA strike, a lot of talent had taken a seat and said, ‘What is it we really want from the marketplace? We want a different kind of quality.’ You hear it a lot from actors: ‘We want better movies.

Glen Powell is a worker. He’s currently on an early 2000s Colin Ferrell/Samuel L. Jackson/Morgan Freeman run where he’s seemingly in everything. The breakout star of Top Gun: Maverick, who has two movies coming out this summer — Hit Man and Twisters — was also recently reported to join Margaret Qualley and Ed Harris in the thriller Huntington for writer/director John Patton Ford. Plus, he has stated that he and his Anyone But You co-star Sydney Sweeney are currently looking for more projects to star in after they capitalized on their on-set romance speculation.
The Hollywood Reporter is now confirming that Powell is in talks to star in the next movie from sci-fi blockbuster director J.J. Abrams. According to THR, no deal has yet to be made and there is no word on what the plot will be. However, it is also reported that this film will...

Glen Powell has been officially announced as the lead in Monsanto, a legal drama whilst also being linked to an upcoming JJ Abrams project.
Glen Powell seems to be at the top of every casting director’s wish list when it comes to constructing a film ensemble. As it stands, we’re not even halfway through May and we’ve already learned that Powell will be starring in Huntington, an A24 revenge thriller with Margaret Qualley. That’s on top of the announcement last month that he would be starring in Edgar Wright’s planned adaptation of The Running Man.
Two announcements in the space of a month seemingly isn’t enough for Powell, though. Now two announcements in a day? That’s more like it.
The first project is confirmed as happening. It’s called Monsanto and is a legal drama that will co-star Laura Dern and Anthony Mackie.

It’s the ’90s, and a killer is on the loose in Los Angeles. Bodies have been washing up, and the murderer is nowhere to be found. But when an obsessive deputy sheriff from the country teams up with a by-the-book detective, their relentlessness leads them down a dark road that brings them inches away from the truth… or so they think. The 2021 movie The Little Things from John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side) stars Denzel Washington, Rami Malek, and Jared Leto.

During the pandemic, most of us apparently watched Chris Hemsworth's actioner "Extraction" more than anything else, with the 2020 film becoming the most popular Netflix original movie at the time. But I remember being much more excited for "The Little Things."
This neo-noir crime thriller from writer-director John Lee Hancock seemed to have it all — especially if you happened to be a '90s kid with fond memories of "Seven." The trailer for "The Little Things" promised Denzel Washington in full jaded cop mode as Kern County Sheriff's Office deputy Joe Deacon, tracking down a serial killer in early-'90s Los Angeles with the help of a much younger, idealistic L.A. cop in the form of Rami Malek's James Baxter. It might have sounded a tad formulaic, but I'll take any noir-tinged thriller promising to give us a peek under California's carapace and reveal the seedy underworld therein.

Kevin Costner starred as an escaped convict who takes a boy hostage in Clint Eastwood’s 1993 film, A Perfect World. Eastwood was given the script right after his Oscar-winning film Unforgiven. He intended to take a break from the double duty of directing and acting, however, Costner convinced him to play the role of Texas Ranger Red Garnett. Interestingly, Costner and Eastwood did not see eye to eye on many of the creative decisions in the film.

As Academy Awards contenders go, “The Holdovers” remains a combined odds frontrunner at Gold Derby in one category (Best Supporting Actress), second in two others and more of an obvious longshot in two more following its three Spirit Awards triumphs on Sunday. But the one thing the Alexander Payne-directed film featuring Oscar nominees Paul Giamatti and awards season juggernaut Da’Vine Joy Randolph, along with dazzling newcomer Dominic Sessa, has going for it as Oscar voting winds down is an impressive number of endorsements of support from famous folks who have moderated Q&As or made their photo presence felt at FYC events simply because they love the film.

All hail Denzel Washington. “The Equalizer 3” (Sony) opening to $34.5 million is the biggest debut since “Barbie” or “Oppenheimer” — and with a reported budget of $70 million, the opening came at a reasonable price.
Washington is a deeply respected actor, but this success wasn’t a sure thing for reasons beyond strike-hampered promotion. Since the second “Equalizer” in 2018, Washington made only one wide-release film. Warner Bros. released John Lee Hancock’s “The Little Things” in Covid-era January 2021 and it grossed just $31 million domestic.
The other winner this week is Taylor Swift for the disruptive interjection of her “The Eras Tour” concert film, released by AMC Distribution. It opens October 13, but her announcement August 30 led to first-day ticket sales of $26 million with a ticket price of $19.89. It’s positioned to provide the best box office for theaters until “The Marvels” (Disney) opens in November.

Producers behind “The Blind Side” have issued a statement affirming the authenticity of Michael Oher’s story as told in the film, responding to Oher’s recent allegations that the Tuohy family fabricated his adoption and instead placed him in a conservatorship that he is still restricted to.
“We feel it is now important for us to respond to some recent media reports, which include many mischaracterizations and uninformed opinions,” Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove, “Blind Side” producers of and co-founders of Alcon Entertainment, said in a statement Thursday. “The impetus for these stories has been a lawsuit by Michael Oher, which seems to have given critics and journalists alike a justification to unfairly pick apart the movie fourteen years later – some going so far as to call it ‘fake’ or a ‘lie.’”

Sean is speaking out following the allegations made by Michael Oher claiming he was tricked into signing a conservatorship which the Tuohys used to profit off his name.
Oher was the subject of the 2009 film The Blind Side, which in turn was based on a book by Michael Lewis. The John Lee Hancock-directed movie was a rag-to-riches story centered around Oher getting adopted by the Tuohy family who would guide him to pursue a career in football that would lead him to star in the NFL.

“We’re devastated,” Tuohy said, according to Daily Memphian. “It’s upsetting to think we would make money off any of our children. But we’re going to love Michael at 37 just like we loved him at 16.”
Tuohy claims the family “didn...

Hollywood loves feel-good, based-on-real-life sports dramas, and isn't shy about drastically altering the facts to mine these tales for maximum stand-up-and-cheer potential. The scrappy high-school basketball underdogs in "Hoosiers" were, despite the school's small enrollment, actually a top team in the state during that supposed Cinderella season (which is why the filmmakers opted to set the film in a fictional town). "Remember the Titans" is riddled with inaccuracies, one of the most egregious being that T.C. Williams High School's climactic game against George C. Marshall High occurred in the middle of the season. And while the title character of "Rudy" did fulfill his dream of suiting up for his beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish, retired NFL quarterback Joe Montana, who was on the team at the time, says the dramatic uniform-dumping scene is a pure fabrication.

Retired NFL star Michael Oher, whose life story was captured in John Lee Hancock’s 2009 film “The Blind Side,” is alleging that his seemingly adoptive parents forced him into a questionable conservatorship at age 18.
Oher, who began living with Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy while in high school in Tennessee, claims the Tuohy family never legally adopted him and instead had him enter a conservatorship less than three months after he turned 18 in 2004. The deal gives the Tuohys legal authority over his business deals, including using his name and likeness.
“The lie of Michael’s adoption is one upon which Co-Conservators Leigh Anne Tuohy and Sean Tuohy have enriched themselves at the expense of their Ward, the undersigned Michael Oher,” the legal filing states, per ESPN. “Michael Oher discovered this lie to his chagrin and embarrassment in February of 2023, when he learned that the Conservatorship to which he consented on...

John Lee Hancock's crime drama "The Little Things" premiered in theaters and on HBO Max in January 2021, one of the first films to be released under the Covid-induced deal whereby Warner Bros. films hit the streamer the same day as cinemas. The film involves a serial killer terrorizing Los Angeles in the early 90s, and it follows the two detectives on his tail, trying to catch him before he kills again. Really, though, it's about the cops' obsession with the case and the way that obsession leads them to disregard their morals.
"The Little Things" currently sits at 45% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Many reviews mention the film's unsatisfying ending as a mark against it; after all, "The Little Things" leaves viewers with more questions than answers, which is not what you expect from a detective story. Still, the movie looks great and boasts a talented cast; even Jared Leto...

In addition to his own original work on screens big and small, Mike Flanagan has proved himself adept at adapting Stephen King stories, including Gerald's Game and Doctor Sleep. He's back on the King beat, planning to bring The Life Of Chuck to screens with Mark Hamill and Tom Hiddleston starring.
Chuck, which Flanagan wrote and will direct, is drawn from the short story which appeared in King's 2020 collection, If It Bleeds (which also gave us John Lee Hancock's Mr Harrigan's Phone last year).
It's three separate stories linked to tell the biography of Charles Krantz in reverse, beginning with his death from a brain tumour at 39 and ending with his childhood in a supposedly haunted house. While there are supernatural elements (and some apocalyptic imagery), it's less focused on fear than some of King's other stories, tonally closer to The Shawshank Redemption or Stand By Me. Hiddleston is set as Chuck,...
