Netflix has debuted a new trailer for Chadwick Boseman’s last film before he sadly passed away ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’.
Adapted from two-time Pulitzer Prize winner August Wilson’s play, Tensions and temperatures rise over the course of an afternoon recording session in 1920s Chicago as a band of musicians await trailblazing performer, the legendary “Mother of the Blues,” Ma Rainey (Academy Award® winner Viola Davis).
Late to the session, the fearless, fiery Ma engages in a battle of wills with her white manager and producer over control of her music. As the band waits in the studio’s claustrophobic rehearsal room, ambitious trumpeter Levee (Chadwick Boseman) — who has an eye for Ma’s girlfriend and is determined to stake his own claim on the music industry — spurs his fellow musicians into an eruption of stories revealing truths that will forever change the course of their lives.

"We got a gold mine!" Studiocanal UK has unveiled a second trailer, which they call a new "teaser trailer", for the film Gold - the latest from screenwriter Stephen Gaghan, who also directs. Gold stars Matthew McConaughey as Kenny Wells, and Édgar Ramírez as Michael Acosta, two businessmen who team up to mine for gold in Indonesia. It's based on the 1993 Bre-x Mineral Corporation mining scandal, a fairly recent real story. The full cast includes Bryce Dallas Howard, Joshua Harto, Timothy Simons, Corey Stoll, Toby Kebbell, Bruce Greenwood, Bill Camp and Rachael Taylor. This presents the story much differently than the first trailer, but it does still end on the "I'm touching a tiger!" scene. Hoping this is good. Here's the new UK teaser trailer for Stephen Gaghan's Gold, direct from Studiocanal's YouTube: You can still watch the first official trailer for Stephen Gaghan's Gold here, to see more footage.

"For better or worse, the ride had begun. And what a ride..." The Weinstein Company has debuted the first trailer for the film called Gold, the latest from screenwriter Stephen Gaghan, who also directs. Gold stars Matthew McConaughey as Kenny Wells, and Édgar Ramírez as Michael Acosta, two businessmen who team up to search for gold in Indonesia. It's based on the 1993 Bre-x Mineral Corporation mining scandal, and almost feels like a Wolf of Wall Street sequel in a few ways. The cast includes Bryce Dallas Howard, Joshua Harto, Timothy Simons, Corey Stoll, Toby Kebbell, Bruce Greenwood, Bill Camp and Rachael Taylor. This looks solid, but there's a wacky side to it I wasn't expecting. It might be fun to watch. Stephen Gaghan is rolling the cameras now on his new based-on-real-life mining drama Gold. But he isn’t finished adding actors to the cast, with Jurassic World’s Bryce Dallas Howard aboard. The film, which has a script from Patrick Massett and John Zinman, tells the story of the 1993 Bre-x Corporation mining scandal. The plot follows a rough-around-the-edges prospector Kenny Wells (Matthew McConaughey) who stumbles upon one of the largest gold mines in the world in the Indonesian jungle. Which, you may not be surprised to learn given the word “scandal” before, turned out to be bogus. Howard is playing Kay, the long-time girlfriend of Wells, who gets wrapped up in his schemes. She joins a cast that also includes Edgar Ramirez, Michelle Williams, Joshua Harto, Corey Stoll, Rachael Taylor, Bruce Greenwood, Stacy Keach and Timothy Simons. Gaghan is shooting in Thailand, Mexico and New York, though obviously not all at once.

Her upcoming slate boasts not only Disney’s anticipated Frozen, but also Sundance-charmer The Lifeguard, which sees the actress take centre stage in the independent film.
Premiering to excellent early reviews at Sundance back in January, The Lifeguard is set to be released in the Us in just over two months. And now Focus World, an arm of Focus Features, have debuted the first poster through Yahoo Movies.
Leigh, almost 30, is living a seemingly perfect life in New York. But when her career and love life both come crashing down, she flees to her suburban hometown and regresses right back into high school life.

The 2013 incarnation of the Sundance Film Festival came to a close over the past weekend, giving film fans and critics the first look at numerous anticipated feature films from a slew of directors, writers, and actors, some of whom even pull double duty both in front of and behind the camera. Over the nearly 10-day festival, numerous films were snapped up by distributors, ensuring that the public who was unable to make it to Sundance will get an opportunity to see it at some point. There were more than a few films, however, that did not get picked up by distributors, leaving their fate in limbo, despite looking quite promising. Here are ten films in the latter category that we are still excited and hopeful to see someday.

Title: The Lifeguard Director: Liz W. Garcia Starring: Kristen Bell, Mamie Gummer, Martin Starr, Alex Shaffer, Amy Madigan, Joshua Harto, David Lambert Young adults in crisis are common, especially in films. What prompts someone working at the Associated Press in New York City to move back home to suburban Connecticut to work in the job she had in high school as a lifeguard is the kind of thing that can only be explained away in a movie as an invigorating premise. Liz W. Garcia, who has worked as a writer on television shows Dawson’s Creek, Wonderfalls, Cold Case, and Memphis Beat, makes her feature film debut with this light comedy [ Read More ]

Exclusive: Their praised drama Memphis Beat may have faced an untimely demise, but Liz Garcia and Josh Harto‘s time working on the TNT show has given them inspiration for a new series. CBS has put in development The Big Easy, a supernatural mystery series set in New Orleans and centered on the complex life and cases of Jack Lyons, a hard-living trumpet player and paranormal investigator with a dark personal tie to his work. Garcia and Harto will write the project, inspired by their experiences living in the city while producing Memphis Beat, which was filmed there. The Big Easy hails from CBS TV Studios and studio based Timberman-Beverly Prods, with Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly executive producing alongside Garcia and Harto. This is married writing duo Garcia and Harto’s second sale this broadcast development season, along with restaurant drama Inferno at NBC, which is executive produced by...

Exclusive: Producer Scott Stuber (Ted) is teaming with TV chef Gordon Ramsay for The Inferno, an NBC drama project set in a restaurant. It was created by Liz Garcia and Josh Harto, creators of TNT’s underrated dramedy Memphis Beat, with Smash director Michael Mayer attached to direct. I hear Inferno landed at NBC in a competitive situation with Fox, home of Gordon’s unscripted series Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares and Hotel Hell. The Inferno is described as a dark, operatic drama about two fledgling New York restaurateurs who, on the eve of bankruptcy, decide to hire a magnetic, fiery, larger-than-life mysterious Italian chef. His arrival changes these best friends’ fortunes by making their restaurant the talk of the town, giving them everything they’ve ever wanted — but at a terrible cost. While the setup could evoke Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, in which he helps failing restaurants, and foul-mouthed...

Kristen Bell has been busy recently, working on all sorts of movies, including Some Girl(s), Writers, the Farrelly brothers’ big anthology comedy and Hit And Run, written and co-directed by fiancé Dax Shepard. She’s adding one more to the list, taking on The Lifeguard for director Liz W Garcia. The writer / producer, who has worked on shows such as Dawson’s Creek and Cold Case, is making the leap to film directing with this tale of Leigh (Bell), a 29-year-old reporter who ditches her life in New York to back to her home town and starts working as a lifeguard, just as she did when she was in high school. But that’s not the only drastic change in her life: she also starts a relationship with a 16-year-old delinquent. 30 seems a little early for a mid-life crisis if you ask us, but whatever works…Mamie Gummer, Martin Starr,...

If you’ve ever wanted to see Kristen Bell get it on with a teen delinquent, have we got a project for you. Deadline Denver reports that Bell will star in Liz W. Garcia‘s The Lifeguard, which centers on “a reporter on the verge of 30 who abandons her life in New York City, returns home to get her high school job as a lifeguard, and starts a dangerous relationship with a 16-year-old delinquent.” Oh, yeah! The Lifeguard sounds a bit like the soon-to-be-released Hello I Must Be Going, but considering how often audiences are subjected to films about older men going through quarter- and mid-life crises that involve a relationship with a younger lady, seeing the story flipped to be female-centric is a nice change. The film will also star Mamie Gummer, Martin Starr, Alex Shaffer, Joshua Harto, and Amy Madigan. While none of their roles have been specified, that...

The beat has stopped at TNT. The cable network has opted not to renew the off-beat cop drama Memphis Beat starring Jason Lee for a third season. “TNT has decided not to pick up a third season of Memphis Beat,” the network said through a spokesperson. “The network thanks everyone involved in the production of Memphis Beat for their work on the series, including the great cast and crew. TNT wishes everyone the best.” This was the last TNT series whose fate had been undecided. The network has now renewed Leverage, Rizzoli & Isles, Falling Skies and Franklin & Bash and canceled Men of a Certain Age, Hawthorne and Memphis Beat. Btw, earlier this week, Memphis Beat creators creators Liz Garcia and Joshua Harto sold a new project to NBC.

NBC has bought one-hour drama pitch The Meadows from husband-and-wife Memphis Beat creators Liz Garcia and Joshua Harto, while Jamie Tarses’ Sony TV-based company has sold two more comedy pitches: Teresa Strasser’s Mother Teresa to ABC and an untitled David Lampson/Andrew Leeds project to Fox. One of my favorite shows last year, Memphis Beat on TNT is coming back tonight, and I'm a little nervous that it may get lost in the shuffle of summer programming. I was already worried last season that we wouldn't get season two, because even though the numbers weren't that bad, it just didn't seem like enough people were talking about it.
For the uninitiated, Memphis Beat stars Jason Lee as detective Dwight Hendricks, an investigator with a laid-back style and passion for music. His particular brand of not exactly playing by the rules (a necessity of detective-focused shows) stems uniquely from almost an overemphasis on his need to oversee Memphis' care.
The show's blend of music, charm, and Memphis as character, make for a police show like no other, and the supporting cast shines in a way that adds credibility to the general idea of honoring ensemble performances.
