Eddie Murphy is back with a badge for the fourth franchise installment of his beloved series, with “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.”
The upcoming Netflix film, which teased a first look earlier this year, marks Murphy’s long-rumored reprisal the iconic character Detective Axel Foley. The ’80s-era franchise first began with Foley as a Detroit detective turned temporary L.A. police officer for an uncover mission. Now, after having worked in L.A. sporadically for decades, Foley teams up with his estranged daughter Jane (Taylour Paige) to take down yet another conspiracy.
Along the way, Foley lands a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and police captain (Kevin Bacon), but his old confidantes, including Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton), are still in the mix. Also returning? Franchise co-stars Paul Reiser and Bronson Pinchot.

Eddie Murphy is feeling the heat in the first full trailer for Netflix’s forthcoming action-comedy sequel Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.
The feature from director Mark Molloy is set to launch July 16 on the streaming service. Murphy leads a cast that also includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Taylour Paige, Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, Bronson Pinchot and Kevin Bacon.
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F sees the star reprising his role as detective Axel Foley, who aims to save the life of his daughter (Paige) by teaming up with new partner (Gordon-Levitt) and familiar faces Billy Rosewood (Reinhold) and John Taggart (Ashton) to foil a conspiracy. "The Godfather Part III," "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines," "Jaws 3-D," "Superman III" ... there are tons of examples of film trilogies that feature a dramatic drop in quality in their third entries. "Beverly Hills Cop III" definitely belongs on that list; the 1994 stinker, directed by John Landis, plopped Eddie Murphy's beloved fish-out-of-water Detroit cop character Axel Foley back in Beverly Hills, but this time, it takes place largely in a ... theme park. Thanks to scripting issues and scheduling problems, the film also broke up the beloved trio of Murphy, John Ashton, and Judge Reinhold, the latter of whom play Taggart and Rosewood, the Beverly Hills police officers who go from being Axel's pesky babysitters in the first movie to lifelong pals and de facto partners in the second. Ashton dodged a bullet by not appearing in the third film at all, and that movie's lousy script didn't do...

Take a look at the new Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F trailer below.
We got a little tease of the film back in December, but the new trailer reveals a whole lot more. Bryan Freedman, the lawyer representing UTA in a clash over Michael Kassan’s departure from the agency, has prevailed in a lawsuit accusing him of defaming the MediaLink founder.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Daniel Murphy, in an order issued on Tuesday, dismissed the case under a statute allowing for the early dismissal of lawsuits intended to chill free speech. He found that a comment from Freedman aimed at Kassan can only be construed as opinion, which can’t make up the basis of a defamation claim.
Sanford Michelman, a lawyer for Kassan, said in a statement, “Freedman’s defense was that everyone knows he blusters and is not truthful, therefore proving our point.” He added, “He is unable to stop Mr. Kassan from competing and now he’s unable to tarnish” his client’s reputation.

There are many ways to end a show, and all of them have been done. We've seen characters move on to symbolize moving on with their lives, like Friends and New Girl. We've been hit with the realization of the purgatory nature of Lost's setup. We've seen Game of Thrones ruin everyone's hopes and dreams and twist the story in the final moments.
With some better than others, the finale of favorite series is always sad to watch. And even the shows which went viral all over the internet for being nonsensical and outright offensive at parts, deserve to have an episode that sets the characters off to lives behind the cameras. ABC’s The Good Doctor is not an exception.

Update, May 21, 4:58 Pm: It’s official and it’s over, at least for now
LA Superior Court Judge Daniel S. Murphy made his tentative ruling final in Michael Kassan’s $125 million defamation case. Leaning on California’a anti-slapp statutes, Judge Murphy tossed out the ex-MediaLink CEO’s legal action against UTA outside counsel Bryan Freedman for calling Kassan a “pathological liar” to Deadline in March.
“No reasonable trier of fact could interpret Freedman’s statement about Kassan as anything other than a nonactionable statement of opinion,” the judge stated in his final ruling, which was unchanged from his tentative of the morning of May 20. “Therefore, Kassan’s defamation claims fail as a matter of law and have no probability of success.”
None of this today was much of a surprise. It was pretty clear at the end of yesterday’s hearing in Dtla that a dismissal was exactly...

Now, we finally have a first look at the series thanks to EW's summer TV preview.
Kudrow will lead a cast that also includes Kal-El Tuck (Unseeing Evil), Charlyne Yi (Knocked Up), Tadhg Murphy (Conversations With Friends), Roger Jean Nsengiyumva (You Don’t Know Me), Rune Temte (Eddie the Eagle), Kiera Thompson (Martyrs Lane) and Rachel House (Heartbreak High).

Of L.A.’s two NBA teams, the Clippers have always been like the neglected little brother next to the more glamorous and celebrated Lakers. So it’s fitting, then, that FX’s new Clippers chronicle Clipped — premiering Tuesday, June 4 exclusively on Hulu; I’ve seen all six episodes — pales in comparison to HBO’s superior Lakers saga Winning Time. A gaudy and campy basketball docudrama sung in the key of Ryan Murphy (though Murphy isn’t involved in this production), Clipped bites off far more than it can chew. It’s part underdog sports drama, part overheated soap opera...

Since we first learned of Danny Boyle and Alex Garland's plans for 28 Years Later back in January, news on the movie — the first in a proposed sequel trilogy to Brit zombie horror duology 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later — and the franchise's future has come thick and fast. Last month alone, we shared that Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes have joined 28 Years Later's cast, and that Candyman director Nia DaCosta is in talks to helm the second part of the new trilogy. And now we know at last that newly-minted Oppenheimer Oscar winner Cillian Murphy, who was already aboard as an executive producer, will be making a return in front of the camera too.
In an interview with Deadline, Sony Motion Pictures Group chairman Tom Rothman was asked directly whether Murphy — who starred in Boyle's first film as bike courier-turned-Rage virus survivor Jim — would be back for 28 Years Later.

Former President Donald Trump demanded President Joe Biden take a drug test before their first debate. At the Minnesota Republican Party’s Lincoln Reagan Dinner on Friday, Trump claimed Biden was “high as a kite” during the State of the Union address.
“I’m gonna demand a drug test, too, by the way. I am, no, I really am. I don’t want him coming in like the State of the Union; he was as high as a kite,” Trump stated.
In a radio interview with Hugh Hewitt, Trump accused Biden of being high on cocaine during the speech. “I think what happened is, you know, that white stuff that they happened to find, which happened to be cocaine in the White House, I don’t know, I think something’s going on there because I watched this State of the Union and he was all jacked up at the beginning.

Rep. Byron Donalds, without evidence, accused President Joe Biden of being “jacked up” and using “injections” in order to appear “coherent.”
There is no evidence that Biden uses or has used drugs. The Republican congressman lobbed the baseless speculation Sunday during an interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, who countered Donalds’ allegation by responding, “These are obviously very serious charges… We’re not doctors. We have no idea.”

Doctor Odyssey, ABC’s new cruise ship procedural premiering this fall, is “Ryan Murphy at his outrageous, over-the-top best,” reports Joshua Jackson.
From 9-1-1 creator Murphy, Doctor Odyssey stars Fringe alum Jackson as Max, the new on-board doctor for a luxury cruise ship “where the staff works hard and plays harder,” says the ABC synopsis. “It’s all hands on deck as Max and his small but mighty medical team navigate unique medical crises and each other, miles from shore.”

Fans of the 2002 film 28 Days Later and its follow-up 28 Weeks Later have been waiting seventeen years for another entry in the franchise, hoping we’d someday see a movie called 28 Months Later. We’re not getting that one, but 28 Days Later director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland are currently working on reviving the franchise, and they’re going to make this revival worth the wait. Not only are we getting a new movie called 28 Years Later, but we’re actually getting a whole trilogy of sequels! Sony just reported that the film is set for a June 20th, 2025 release date. But what else do we know about this 28 Years Later sequel trilogy.

Joshua Jackson, star of Ryan Murphy’s Doctor Odyssey, teased a bit about the anticipated new drama series set for premiere this fall on ABC.
In a red carpet interview with Deadline at Disney’s upfront earlier this week, Jackson said the show is in “deep pre-production” with shooting to begin in about four weeks. He added, “the sets are all built” and “look amazing, the cast is mostly together, the scripts are written and we’re just ready to go.”
In addition to Jackson, Don Johnson, Phillipa Soo and Sean Teale also star.
As with all Ryan Murphy series, no details about the premise or character descriptions are being revealed. We do know that Jackson is playing a Doctor. “Ryan Murphy doesn’t write normal procedural television, so the world that this doctor lives in is going to be as over the top and outrageous as you would expect from Ryan Murphy,...

28 Days Later director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland are finally reuniting to make a sequel to their zombie movie classic. As we reporter earlier this year, this sequel is set up at Sony, is going to be called 28 Years Later – and it may even launch a whole trilogy of 28 Days Later sequels. Last year, 28 Days Later star Cillian Murphy said he’d gladly be in a sequel if it was made by Boyle and Garland, and when this project was announced, it was confirmed that Murphy is on board as an executive producer… but as months have gone by and Boyle has assembled the cast, it’s remained unclear whether or not Murphy will actually appear in the movie. Before "Oppenheimer" fever swept the globe, what was actor Cillian Murphy's best and most recognizable role? Some would point to the ever-popular "Peaky Blinders" and his delightfully Brummie performance as Tommy Shelby. Anyone who offered up his casting as a space-faring physicist in Danny Boyle's "Sunshine" or even his villainous turn in Wes Craven's "Red Eye" would earn my eternal respect. But for many of us, the quintessential zombie flick "28 Days Later" best showed off what Murphy had to offer back in 2002. With plans already in motion for a return visit to that post-apocalyptic world in the sequel "28 Years Later," we've waited with bated breath to see if Murphy himself would reprise his role.
That wait is now over. The talented actor is officially coming back for "28 Years Later," as confirmed by Sony Motion Pictures Group head honcho Tom Rothman in an interview with Deadline.

Cillian Murphy has been confirmed to return for 28 Years Later by Sony Motion Pictures Group chairman Tom Rothman.
Speaking to Deadline, the movie executive said Murphy would be back for the first film in the zombie franchise’s new trilogy and vaguely teased the actor would be involved “in a surprising way and in a way that grows.”
Rothman also praised the film as director Danny Boyle “at his best, combined with a very commercial genre, like we had with Edgar Wright and Baby Driver.”
Further addressing 28 Years Later, Rothman emphasized the movie is “not in any way a literal sequel.”
Earlier this year, Murphy was similarly opaque about his potential role in 28 Years Later during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, simply saying, “Watch this space.”

When co-showrunners David Shore and Liz Friedman learned The Good Doctor would end with its current and seventh season, they “laid down on the floor and contemplated that for its truth, then pretty quickly had an idea of where we wanted to go with that final season,” Friedman reveals, before adding, “but this is definitely bittersweet… I could have continued to tell stories for Shaun [Murphy], and Freddie [Highmore] forever.” In the penultimate episode, there was plenty of sweetness for the show’s doctors: There was a wonderful impromptu 2 a.m. wedding for Morgan (Fiona Gubelmann) and Park (Will Yun Lee); the return of original character Claire (Antonia Thomas) and her romantic reunion with Kalu (Chuku Modu); and Shaun, with the help of his wife Lea (Paige Spara) explaining to young addict Hannah how Dr. Glassman (Richard Schiff) can help her the way he helped Shaun, his “nonbiological son.” Finally, there was Glassman quietly telling Shaun,...

Saying goodbye to a beloved TV show is never easy. Even though The Good Doctor has already come under fire for some questionable choices in portraying an autistic doctor, it had a strong fan base that was forgiving enough to keep watching. However, all good things must come to an end, and The Good Doctor is no exception.
The show will end with the 10th episode of season 7, titled Goodbye. Although the title strongly hints at the goodbye the show will be waving to its audience, the promo suggests that it's not the only goodbye that will be said during the episode. And the fans are not very happy about it.
When Will The Good Doctor End?
ABC's controversial medical drama, which follows autistic doctor Shaun Murphy's quest to become a top surgeon and fit in at a hospital, is nearing the end of its run and will premiere its final episode next week,...

Travis Kelce is feeling very grateful for his role in Ryan Murphy’s FX horror series Grotesquerie.
While Kelce knows his way around a football field, a filming set is a new territory. But he opened up in a recent episode of his New Heights podcast about his experience on set so far, starring opposite Niecy Nash-Betts.
“It’s been so much fun,” the three-time Super Bowl champion said. “Ryan Murphy is [an] unbelievable writer, director, producer, all of the above, man. He’s just — there’s nothing he can’t do and everybody’s just been so helpful in making me feel comfortable.”
He continued, “Even on top of that, just giving me kinda the direction I need and the coaching I need to portray this part that I’m in.”
Although most details surrounding the series have been kept under wraps, Nash-Betts confirmed Kelce’s involvement earlier this month in an Instagram video.

There are many changes coming to Grey's Anatomy, and not all of them will be exciting for the general audience. While the show has managed to survive major cast changes and allow Ellen Pompeo to explore other career opportunities outside of the medical drama she has been a part of for 20 years, it will now face another challenge.
Fans who are used to tuning in to Grey's Anatomy the old-fashioned way, by turning on the TV every Thursday at 9 p.m., will have to change their habits and stay up for an extra hour. Here's why ABC made the decision.
ABC 2024/2025 Fall Schedule Changes
Even though Grey's Anatomy has already been renewed for season 21, fans of the show still have plenty to worry about. First and foremost, ABC is moving the show an hour later into the night to 10 p.m., now that the schedule for the upcoming 2024/2025 broadcast season has been officially announced.

Every actor has a few films that might not have performed as well as they wanted, including blockbuster star Denzel Washington. But one box-office disappointment was different from the others, as it may have been a direct result of the O.J. Simpson verdict.
How the O.J. Simpson trial might’ve affected ‘Devil in a Blue Dress’ Denzel Washington | Miikka Skaffari/FilmMagic
Devil in a Blue Dress saw Oscar-winner Washington play Easy Rawlins, a private detective investigating a missing woman. The 1995 movie was based on a series of books that Washington and the film’s director Carl Franklin were interested in at the time. The fact that the film was about a black investigator in the 1940s added another layer to Franklin’s noir film for him to play with.
“It gives you another obstacle,” Franklin said in an interview with Slate. “Of course, obstacles are the key to drama.

If there were any lingering doubts that the Walt Disney Co. is now comfortable leaning into the edgier aspects of its increasingly aligned portfolio, they evaporated about 10 minutes into Tuesday’s upfront presentation when Ryan Reynolds promised that eventual Disney+ library member Deadpool & Wolverine would be a boon to advertisers targeting “testicular trauma” and “cocaine content.”
There was noticeably less cursing than during the week’s previous upfront events, at least until Jimmy Kimmel took the stage, but the embrace of Hard-r content was apparent from the pitch’s opening moments. Emma Stone, the Oscar-winning star of the Disney-produced Poor Things, was on hand to introduce Bob Iger — and, a month after he won his proxy fight with Nelson Peltz, voice her support for the recently embattled CEO.

Ryan Murphy is looking to part ways with a historic mid-century home designed by iconic architect Richard Neutra — to the tune of $33.9 million.
The clean-lined house in Bel Air, California is known as The Brown House and was built in 1955 by the late architect, who was known for pioneering the idea of indoor-outdoor California living and whose houses have since been owned and prized by such entertainment names as Flea, Mitch Glazer and Kelly Lynch, stylist Jeanne Yang, and directors Josef von Sternberg and Marc Forster.
Feud and American Horror Story creator Murphy purchased the Brown House in 2022 and set about renovating it and decorating it in an eclectic style that wasn’t slavish to its mid-century roots. As he wrote in Architectural Digest earlier this year, “Instead of surrounding ourselves in one particular midcentury style that had long gone out of fashion (and was actually uncomfortable), why not invite...

ABC will once again have Abbott Elementary as a centerpiece of its Wednesday night in 2024-25 — but it will begin the season without any companion comedies.
The Emmy-winning series will move back a half-hour to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, with The Golden Bachelorette (which will run 90 minutes each week, up from an hour for The Golden Bachelor last fall) as its lead-in. The rest of ABC’s comedy offerings for 2024-25 — including the final season of The Conners — will come in the second half of the season.
“We continue to be very dedicated to comedy. I think you’ll see that really come through in midseason,” Disney Television Group president Craig Erwich told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview Tuesday, a few hours before Disney’s upfront presentation. “Because of the strikes [in 2023], there was a pause in some of our development plans. ABC is doubling down with Ryan Murphy on Thursday nights. The Alphabet network revealed a fall 2024 schedule on Tuesday that features the Murphy’s “9-1-1” and newcomer “Doctor Odyssey” on Thursday nights.
The move now turns the night — long the home for Shonda Rhimes’ hit “Tgit” franchises, into a bit of a “Tgim” — “Thank God It’s Murphy” — and shifts “Grey’s Anatomy” to 10 p.m.
Also, the network revealed that it is going with an “Abbott Elementary” island on Wednesdays, sandwiched between a 90-minute format for “The Golden Bachelorette” and then the unexpected, previously unannounced true crime ABC News docuseries “Scamanda.”
But don’t fret for “Abbott,” says Disney Television Group president Craig Erwich. He tells Variety that after the success of “The Golden Bachelor” in the fall, lead-in from “The Golden Bachelorette” will “position it to continue to garner both audience as well as the critical claim that it so deserves.

Bradley Cooper is one of the most snubbed actors in the history of Oscars, and even though he has been nominated for twelve Academy Awards, the win always seems to slip through his fingers. His recent work, Maestro, earned three nominations, but the actor still went home empty-handed.

After the awarding event, Cooper made a surprise cameo in ABC’s Abbott Elementary as himself. The news is that his two-minute appearance in the show has been submitted for Emmy’s consideration.

This shouldn’t be a big surprise, but it will be a welcome one: Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F has officially been given an R-rating for “language throughout, violence and brief drug use.” Each of the previous three movies in the Beverly Hills Cop franchise was also released with an R-rating, so, as I said, no big surprise.
Nearly thirty years after the last movie’s release, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F will find Detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) back on the beat in Beverly Hills. The official synopsis reads: “After his daughter’s life is threatened, she (Taylour Paige) and Foley team up with a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old pals Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) to turn up the heat and uncover a conspiracy.” Mark Molloy directed the Beverly Hills Cop sequel from a screenplay by Will Beall and Tom Gormican & Kevin Etten.

“Shelter In Place. Wait Further Instructions” Watch The Scary New Trailer For A Quiet Place: Day One
“It’s the end of days. No more people.” It’s time once again to stay totally silent and totally still in the cinema when you go to see A Quiet Place: Day One. Just as audiences did in 2018 when director John Krasinski unleashed his horror film A Quiet Place on an unsuspecting public, everyone in the theater went dead quiet so as to not give away the Abbott family’s hiding places.
A Quiet Place: Part II showed the aftermath of the deadly events at home and the new terrors the family faced in the outside world. The sequel starred Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, Djimon Hounsou and John Krasinski. From the opening moments of the film, the family was on the run, beyond any semblance of security and searching for refuge in a town gone mad with fear. In a time when empathy and connection...
