The prequel film we have all been waiting for is finally here and I am really happy to say that it is as brilliant and bombastic as the original film. Obviously, we are talking about Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, the prequel to George Miller‘s 2015 Mad Max: Fury Road. Directed by Miller from a screenplay by Nico Lathouris and Miller, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga follows the story of a young Furiosa as she is taken from Green Place of Many Mothers and tries to survive in the wasteland while trying to get back home but the war between great biker horde’s warlord Dementus and Immortan Joe makes it harder. Replacing Charlize Theron from Fury Road, Anya Taylor-Joy takes over the role of Furiosa in the prequel film and it also stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Burke, Lachy Hulme, John Howard, Angus Sampson, and Nathan Jones. So,...

The European Film Academy (Efa) has unveiled 462 film professionals as new members in an announcement timed to coincide with Europe Day on May 9.
The new arrivals will be eligible to vote in the academy’s European Film Awards, the region’s equivalent to the Academy Awards, as well as contribute to its other initiatives across the year.
The Efa said a record number of professionals had accepted to join the organization this year, adding that 50% were female, 49%, were male, and 1% defined as non-binary.
The bigger intake comes amid a drive to revamp the academy which recently announced it would be moving the Efa ceremony to January in 2026, from its traditional December slot, to make it more relevant in the annual film awards season culminating with the Oscars.
The Efa currently now counts 4,600 members based in 52 countries.
The new members mainly hailed from Germany (68), France (38), Switzerland (37), Poland (36), Italy (33), Spain (24), UK (28) and...

Thorvaldur Kristjansson and Hera Hilmar in A Letter From Helga
In a small community at the tip of a remote Icelandic fjord, two farmers who are already married fall in love, turning both their lives upside down. This is the story told in A Letter From Helga, but it’s far more than just a romance, with complex characters and an underlying theme of frustration with the smallness of their world. Thorvaldur Kristjansson stars as the hero, Bjarni, whose passion for the title character is matched by his inability to hold onto her as he struggles with the weight of prior responsibilities. Thorvaldur was thrilled that the film was selected to screen at the Glasgow Film Festival, an happy to meet up for a chat about it whilst the festival was underway. At first glance, the story in A Letter From Helga is a slight thing, simply a platform for much bigger emotions, but dig a little deeper and it’s full of hidden substance.
Adapted from the book by Bergsveinn Birgisson, this is a film as interested in the dynamics of romance as it is in romance itself, and one filled with a longing for a perfect love which its characters, no matter what they may sacrifice, find impossible to achieve. Perhaps it’s not surprising given the small size of their community at the tip of an obscure Icelandic fjord. This is a place where people make do with what they can find, the chances of finding a soulmate being slim.
When we meet them, Helga (Hera Hilmar) and Bjarni (Thorvaludur Kristjansson) have each already made one try at it. Helga hoped to find adventure with her husband Hallgrímur (Björn Thors), but he went.

Munich-based arthouse distribution company Prokino Filmverleih has locked German-language and Swiss rights for the unconventional Icelandic road trip film “Driving Mum” from production-distribution outfit Alief (“Matadero”).
The project won the Grand Prix Prize for best film at the Tallinn Black Night Film Festival, earning additional accolades for its affecting score. It was also chosen as an Industry Select title at 2022’s Toronto Festival.
The deal, brokered between Miguel Angel Govea, a partner at Alief, and Ira Von Gienanth, managing director of production, acquisitions & sales at Prokino, comes ahead of the feature’s European Film Market screenings in Berlin.
“We’re thrilled to close German rights with Prokino. Ira and the team are a perfect match for Hilmar’s sentimental yet quirky tribute to motherhood,“ Govea remarked in a statement.

We are in the final season of the Apple TV+ original series See, starring Jason Momoa, and in the last episode of the show, “I See You,” co-stars Hera Hilmar and Sylvia Hoeks have a heartfelt moment as sisters. Maghra Kane and the mad Queen Kane embrace each other after a tumultuous couple of seasons between the two, but it is only Maghra who speaks and the Queen that reacts. “You’re still the sister I’ve loved my whole life. Who braided my hair and made puppets for me. Brought me into her bed when it thundered,” she says in the TV Insider exclusive clip above. “My sister, who sang me to sleep the night mother died. Never losing patience, never once letting go of my hand.” The “mad queen” begins to cry as Maghra begins to sing to her. Soon after, she joins her sister in the lullaby.

Before we get to that, we have See Season 3 Episode 7, which brings plenty of conflict to the surface.
TV Fanatic scored an exclusive first look at the installment that will surely switch things up.
Queen Kane (Sylvia Hoeks) and Kofun (Archie Madekwe) get into quite the war of words in the clip as they both come to terms with the big changes.
It certainly leaves us with many questions as we head into the episode.
As previously reported, See Season 3 will conclude the Jason Moma drama.

Review: When AppleTV+ launched in November 2019, See was one of the marquee series that premiered with it. With the added twist that the post-apocalyptic series existed in a world without sight, Steven Knight’s epic show would have a unique twist to set it apart. In season three, almost a year has passed since Baba Voss (Momoa) defeated his nemesis brother Edo, played by Dave Bautista, and bid farewell to his family to live remotely in the forest. But when a Trivantian scientist develops a new and devastating form of sighted weaponry that threatens the future of humanity, Baba returns to Paya in order to protect his tribe once more.

In the dystopian world of the Apple TV+ series “See,” the notion of blindness can be interpreted as a peculiar kind of enemy for its characters to contend with. Where Baba Voss (Jason Momoa) was born, sightlessness is the standard, and sight is a fallacy. No one seems to remember a past that was any different. Survival is the main objective. For Season 2, show creator Steven Knight ups the ante of his post-apocalyptic curio, introducing a flesh-and-blood adversary. If Baba Voss had long been anointed chieftain, now he must face Edo Voss (the inimitable Dave Bautista), his brother, to protect his title.
Now, there are no half measures. It’s kill or be killed.
The addition of Bautista eventually proves its worth. His introductory scene — which canvasses his hulking frame, his face a long-bearded scowl — makes it very clear that he’s beastly and to be utterly feared. If the season’s key art,...

Caren Pistorius in ‘Unhinged.’
Caren Pistorius was working part-time in a fabrics shop in Sydney last year when her Rgm agent suggested she audition for the lead female role opposite Russell Crowe in a US road rage thriller.
The South African-born, New Zealand-raised actress did a self-tape but felt it was too rushed and didn’t expect it to lead anywhere.
The following day her agent told her the producers wanted her to fly to New Orleans the next day to audition with Crowe.
“I turned up in that room after almost no sleep, feeling delirious,” she tells If on the line from New Zealand, where she is spending lockdown with her family. The next morning director Derrick Borte rang to tell her she’d won the role in Unhinged.

Apple TV+ launches Friday with a small selection of all-original content for subscribers to choose from, one of them being the sci-fi series “See.” What’s special enough about the series, starring Jason Momoa and Alfre Woodard, to warrant its placement among the first batch of heavily curated shows Apple is offering customers on its new streaming service? For starters, it’s set in a world where no one can see. Well, almost no one.
“See” takes place in the distant future, hundreds of years after a deadly virus has decimated humankind and left those who survived blind. Momoa plays Baba Voss, the leader of a powerful tribe and father of twins born into this post-apocalyptic world with the mythic ability to see, who must be protected from a queen who wants to destroy them.

There’s a scene near the end of “See’s” hourlong, action-driven pilot where Queen Kane (Sylvia Hoeks), the malicious ruler of one of Earth’s last civilizations with electricity, interrupts her advisers by bluntly shouting, “I wish to pray!” Retreating to an oversized footrest bathed in light, the blind leader of a blind world licks her fingers, starts speaking to God, and then masturbates until her prayer and orgasm climax together.
There’s no particular explanation for this — not in the first three episodes, anyway — and the scene highlights both the peculiar experience of watching “See” as well as the show’s early shortcomings. For as odd as creator and writer Steven Knight’s choices can be, they rarely evoke an intuitive consequence from his apocalyptic premise or a clever way to maximize the bold new world he’s trying to build.

Jason Momoa-headlined Apple TV series, See, landed a preemptive second season renewal, albeit with personnel changes ahead.
See may be a sci-fi series set in a far-future in which humanity collectively lost the sense of sight, but – in an example of art metaphorically imitating life – the show’s streaming home, Apple TV+, did a bit of blind greenlighting of its own back in October, preemptively renewing See Season 2 amongst a quartet that includes Dickinson, The Morning Show and For All Mankind, ahead of the platform’s November 1 launch date.
The renewal of See and the three other shows was revealed in a lengthy report from THR on Apple’s streaming endeavors. The series, brandishing a concept-driven sci-fi premise, is set hundreds of years in the future, focused on a human race that literally went blind, resorting to a brutal, primitive tribal existence. Apple has released the first trailer for Jason Momoa’s upcoming post-apocalyptic series See. The story is set in the distant future after a virus has decimated humankind. The people who survived madness came out of it blind.
Momoa takes on the role of Baba Voss, “the father of twins born centuries later with the mythic ability to see—who must protect his tribe against a powerful yet desperate queen who believes it’s witchcraft and wants them destroyed.”
The series looks like an impressively epic series, and it’s a perfect project for Mamoa to be a part of. He’s totally in his element with this character that he plays. The show was created by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) and directed by Francis Lawrence, who previously helmed a couple of the Hunger Games movies.
