It was announced tonight at The Game Awards, that Fallout developer Bethesda, together with Wonder Woman actress Lynda Carter, will rescue the single-player genre. In the video, Carter is calling out on players to save the single-player game as "every hour around the globe, neglected players feel lonely, shunned by their multiplayer counterparts."
As someone who plays single-player games more than multiplayer ones, I can definitely relate to the conundrum Bethesda is presenting here. However, although a lot of video game developers are focusing their efforts on online multiplayer games, there are still a lot of publishers, besides Bethesda of course, that are still releasing single player games.
Although the video campaign is light-hearted and not so serious, I get Bethesda's dedication to keeping players interested in playing single-player games. After all, this is what Bethesda is good at with successful franchises such as Fallout, Skyrim, Wolfenstein, and The Evil Within to name a few.

It’s only been two months since she welcomed her first child, but Serena Williams is in killer shape!
The tennis ace took a night off from looking after her 2-month-old daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., to attend Glamour’s 2017 Women of the Year Awards in Brooklyn, New York, on Monday.
Wearing a short black Versace dress bordered with gold embellishments, the 36-year-old athlete’s toned arms and legs were on display, while her svelte figure showed no signs of her recent pregnancy.
Williams completed her look by pulling her hair into a high ponytail and rocking matte plum lipstick.

There are a lot of opinions worth doubling down on, but James Cameron picked the wrong fight when it comes to “Wonder Woman.”
Last month, the director of five “Avatar” movies dismissed the DC hit, declaring the superheroine “an objectified icon,” calling the picture “a step backwards,” and then trumpeting his own Sarah Connor from “The Terminator” movies as the ideal female heroes should strive for.

An Oscar movie could hit theaters at any time during the year -- as far as the rules are concerned, it only needs to be released between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 to be eligible -- but everyone knows that all of the true contenders arrive in the last quarter of the year.
I suppose some Academy-worthy movies have already been released: Dunkirk, right? The Big Sick and Get Out less likely, but perhaps! I guess some people believe Wonder Woman could really get a Best Picture nomination.... So, instead of considering this our first round of Oscar predictions, think of it as a Ones to Watch list to prepare you as studios start showing off their films that could earn noms at next year's Academy Awards. (Which are still five months away, Fyi, on March 4, 2018.)

The Tick, out now on Amazon Prime Video, is huge fun. Here's how the show achieves what its creator envisioned 21 years ago...
In 1994, I was about to be a freshman in high school. Despite being “too old” for cartoons, there wasn’t really anything else on television on Saturday mornings while I was waiting for wrestling to show up on my television screen. I remember most of the cartoons I saw only in the vaguest terms: the creepy face of Louie Anderson’s gargoyle animated child or a screaming purple cat. I know the name of both shows because I looked them up prior to writing this article, but I couldn’t tell you anything about them. However, one show I watched regularly in the mid to late 90s stuck with me well into adulthood, and that’s the 1994-96 animated version of The Tick.

The biggest problem with the DC Comics series on the CW is that they are overstuffed, robbing the title character of the spotlight and forcing them to work as part of a team. The formula can be repetitive and stifling, demanding that the star rise above the noise to get noticed.
As Supergirl moved from CBS where it was a well-reviewed, low-rated buzz series, to the CW, changes had to be made. Calista Flockhart chose not to join the team in Canada so Cat Grant, one of the more interesting members of the cast, was gone but the crappy looking Deo set got a major upgrade.
With Supergirl: The Complete Second Season now available from Warner Home Entertainment, we’re given a chance to evaluate how the sophomore outing went. They certainly aimed high, opening with the inevitable arrival of Supergirl (Melissa Benoist)’s cousin, Superman (Tyler Hoechlin). Of course,...

Sweet Christmas, everyone – this year’s Awesome Con was busy as all get-out and chock-full of cool things to see and do, and con season is rushing by so fast that I’m just now getting to my recap! (We can also blame the con crud for this, alas. It’s been following me around for a solid month.) As always, there were way more activities than one mere mortal could get to. So let’s start there. First off, I was part of a pre-con round-table interview Awesome Con set up with the inestimable Stan Lee. Stan answered many great questions. He talked about what...

Emmy voters will be deciding the wins in each category from August 14th-28th. We'll be reviewing a few of our favorite categories.
by Nathaniel R
The Academy of Television Arts first gave out the Main Title Design Emmy in the 1976. The New Original Wonder Woman was actually nominated (how fun!) but the prize went to something called Addie and the King of Hearts. The award has had a spotty history since, going in and out of fashion, changing rules, sometimes having no winner selected, and the category's numbers have fluctuated in silly fashion anywhere from two to six nominees in a given year with no rhyme or reason. The award seems to have stabilized itself around 2003 after which there have always been either five or six nominees each time. We treasure this category because it's one of the few in which the Emmy voters are forced to have a...

On episode 36 of Film Focus, I talk about theme songs in superhero films. Now, this is a topic I’ve wanted to cover for a little while and after the release of Wonder Woman and how much people have taken to her theme song, I thought the time was right to talk about it on the podcast. So superhero theme songs, while it is not an element that a lot of people pay attention to, it is one of the key aspects that make superhero characters recognisable and awesome and in this episode I cover:
1) Superhero theme importance.
2) The recognisable themes.
3) The themes that don’t get enough love.
4) The themes that missed the mark.
5) And upcoming superhero films that could have good theme songs.
P.S. There are moments of me giving verbal renditions of some of the theme songs so if you find it a little cringeworthy I apologise in advance.

It is without a doubt--Annabelle is one creepy doll to venture on to the big screen.
Originally based on the real demon possessed doll alleged by Ed and Lorraine Warren, Annabelle: Creation will be the prequel that tells the fictional origin story from 2014’s Annabelle movies.
Warner Brothers recruited Lights Out director David F. Sandberg to the helm after his very successful and scary feature film debut. The origin story looks at a dollmaker and his wife, who created a large doll to be a vessel for a spirit after the tragic death of their daughter. To make amends, they invited a nun and several orphans to live in their home years later. Unbeknownst to everyone, Annabelle soon targeted the invited guests in the terrifying movie Annabelle: Creation.

Summertime summertime sum-sum-summertime. Long days. Sultry nights.
Summer is hot. Literally. We are very aware of our bodies, and the bodies of those around us. We wear lighter clothes. We wear sunglasses and/or glamorous hats.
Love is in the air, or at least lust.
Naturally, I asked myself, “What do superheroes do about this?”
I mean, skin-tight costumes are hot. Literally. And while certain superpowers like invulnerability might make it easier to wear synthetic fabrics or leather, that still doesn’t explain how a Batman can get through a humid Gotham summer.
I guess he’s had his mind on other things. Last month, he proposed to Catwoman Selina Kyle, on a rooftop, both dressed in their superhero outfits.
Neither one of them appeared to be sweating. Although it’s raining, so maybe that made a difference.
I like the Batman/Catwoman romance. I liked it in the old...

With “Wonder Woman” still currently reigning supreme at the theaters — $708 million worldwide and counting — now seems like the perfect time to take a look back at the evolution of Diana Prince and her alter-ego through the years with a new video essay from Burger Fiction. Surprisingly comprehensive, the video shows not just the higher profile outings like the Lynda Carter TV series, but also spoofs and lesser-seen iterations, like several TV pilots that weren’t picked up and a variety of the animated depictions of Wonder Woman and the Justice League (including my personal favorite, the Hanna-Barbera show “Super Friends,” where Wonder Woman and Batman got to rub shoulders with crime-solving talking animals).

Since the seventies, moviegoers have been used to lining up for big blockbusters. While some see them as primarily about male protagonists (in everything from Jaws to Avatar) it is easy to forget there have been some excellent female big hitters as well and today we will be focusing on two in particular - Wonder Woman and Lara Croft.

There’s nothing I like better than getting hold of a movie that I’ve been searching over three decades for and adding it to my collection. At my age, there aren’t many vintage films left that I don’t own in one format or another, so when I heard that the 1976 cult classic Bobbie Jo and the Outlaw was getting a Blu-ray release, I was quite enthused. This movie has somehow always managed to elude me. It never seemed to play on any of my cable stations in the early 80s, we never had a copy of it at the video store I worked at in the mid-80s and I was still never able to find a copy of it anywhere throughout the 90s. To be honest, by the time the 21st century hit, I completely forgotten about this movie, so I was pretty...

Fox Searchlight pushed Rachel Weisz melodrama “My Cousin Rachel” into national release this prime summer weekend, which boasts only one new wide studio opening. But the romantic mystery thriller failed to click with audiences.
On the other hand, Roadside Attractions kept Miguel Arteta’s Sundance hit “Beatriz at Dinner” in limited dates, where the edgy and compelling story of a mismatched dinner at a Southern California estate thrived in its first limited run. With a $30,000+ per theater average and a potential appeal beyond core art house audiences, this Salma Hayek starrer could make a significant impact in upcoming weeks.
Eleanor Coppola’s romance “Paris Can Wait” continues to lead wider releases, at a decent level for its theater break but significantly below such top 2016 crossover performers as “Love and Friendship” and “The Lobster” at this time.

Adam West, who was beloved for generations as the man under the crimefighting cowl in the 1960s Batman TV series, passed away yesterday at the age of 88. West had an acting career going back to the 1950s. Today, Cinelinx pays homage to a gentleman who loved his fans, as we say goodbye to Adam West
Adam West loved playing Batman. Beginning with the Batman Tv show (1966-1969), he continued being involved with DC Batman projects, including Batman: the Movie (1966), The Super Friends (or Super Powers Team), the New Adventures of Batman, Tarzan and the Super Seven, The Legends of the Super heroes, Batman: the Animated Series, the Batman: New Times video game, The 2004-2006 Batman cartoon, Batman: the Brave & the Bold, Robot Chicken, Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, and the upcoming Batman vs. Two-Face. Through all these projects, for over five decades, West voiced either the Batman or one of his supporting cast.

Audiences were rightly won over this weekend as Wonder Woman finally made it to her very own movie, mere decades after she was first created around WWII (and several years after her male DC counterparts like Superman, Batman, even frickin’ Green Lantern). But before her first big-screen starring role, the Amazon Princess has been kicking ass on various small screens for quite a while now, starting with 1967’s Who’s Afraid Of Diana Prince. Burger Fiction has helpfully compiled many of her other battles, including saving the Brady Kids in a 1972 cartoon in her 1940s garb, then moving on to Super Friends, and a bizarre 1974 TV movie with a blond Cathy Lee Crosby as Ww, which helped kick off the iconic TV series starring Lynda Carter.

“Wonder Woman” captured the weekend zeitgeist with reviews as good as any new adult-appeal specialized opener — and gobbled up potential audience. But that’s not the sole reason the specialty box office went to hell this weekend.
“Churchill” (Cohen), with the pedigree of an arthouse crossover winner, went nationally in top theaters but failed to capture more than desultory business. A trio of niche releases showed some mid-level interest in New York and Los Angeles — “The Exception”(A24), “Letters from Baghdad” (Vitagraph), and “Band Aid”(IFC) — but none looks likely to cross over beyond the big-city arthouse market.
The scariest weekend news: the total lack of response to Ken Loach’s Cannes 2016 Palme d’Or-winner “I, Daniel Blake.” While it’s been a long wait after a year-end qualifying run, it’s shocking that the well-reviewed BAFTA-winner met with near total disinterest.

Wonder Woman opened to stellar reviews this weekend and will no doubt be a huge financial hit. In honor of the Princess of the Amazons being the one to break the Dceu losing streak, Cinelinx looks back at the history of live-action superhero TV shows and movies with female leading characters.
Wonder Woman (1974)- Appropriately, Wonder Woman was the first-ever female super hero to get a live-action adaptation. This 1974 made-for-tv movie was a pilot for an intended series. It starred former professional tennis player Cathy Lee Crosby. The blonde-haired Crosby doesn’t seem like the natural choice to play the Amazon Princess, but then again, this version of Wonder Woman was not a typical adaptation. For one thing, she had no super powers. This was based on the 1968-1972 era of the Wonder Woman comic known as “Diana Prince: The New Wonder Woman” when she lost her powers and stopped wearing her trademark costume.

At the end of the Cannes Film Festival last week, jury member Jessica Chastain spoke out against a trend she found “deeply disturbing”: The representation of women in film. It was a brazen move for an actress at the height of her success to make herself so vulnerable and speak so candidly in front of Hollywood’s crème de la crème.
“I do hope that when we include more female storytellers we will have more of the kinds of women that I recognize in my day to day life,” she said. “Ones that are proactive, have their own agencies, don’t just react to the men around them, they have their own point of view.” I would add one more quality to Chastain’s list: Big girls.

The movie Wonder Woman will undoubtedly be the most talked about movie starting today through whenever it potentially smashes any kind of box office records. So as we continue to see positive reviews, great feedback, and praise for what’s being called the “best superhero movie” of the year, let’s take a look back at just how far Wonder Woman has come on screen. While Lynda Carter made Wonder Woman a smashing success on television, little did people know that before Carter’s Wonder Woman, another Wonder Woman existed back in 1967, only this Wonder Woman never made it to television, thank

It has taken awhile, but finally the DC Universe has put the right women in charge — both in front of and behind the camera — and the result should rock the movies this summer. The long-awaited Wonder Woman feature is upon us, and let me be clear: This is not your mother’s Wonder Woman, and it is certainly not Lynda Carter’s (who starred in the cartoon-y 1970s TV series). It's been a long road getting Wonder Woman to the big screen. Starting from her initial introduction in 1941, the character has undergone a number of filmed (and animated) appearances, including the popular 1970's TV show starring Lynda Carter, a 2009 feature-length animated film and two failed attempts at a reintroduction with George Miller's canceled Justice League Mortal film... She’s easily the most famous female superhero of all time, and she’s doing it on her own. She’s Wonder Woman, and she’s been a solo superhero since her first DC Comics appearance in 1941. Though Gal Gadot is taking her to the big screen in Wonder Woman, out Friday, until now, the best-known depiction of Wonder Woman has to be the Lynda Carter version, which first premiered on Nov. 7, 1975.

Believe it or not, when Wonder Woman arrives in theaters on June 2, it will be the first time the character has fronted her own live-action movie. You’ve already met the new Wonder Woman.
Gal Gadot was introduced as DC Comics’ Amazon princess last year in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, when the Israeli actor’s sly portrayal of the third most enduring superhero in comic book history stole the show from her caped co-stars. Only Supes and the Bat have been continuously published longer, having been around since the late 1930s.
Wonder Woman has been in print since late 1941, except for a few months during the 1980s.
There’s much more to learn about the demigoddess, though, and this year moviegoers are going to get two big lessons. The standalone Wonder Woman movie opens this month, and in November she and Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne will go about forming...

For this week's edition of Hit Me With Your Best Shot with Warner Bros Wonder Woman (2017) finally hitting movie theaters, we're taking a trip back to the mid 70s when the world's most famous superheroine made her most famous trek into live-action. Lynda Carter first came to fame by winning a national beauty contest in 1972 (the awkwardly titled "Miss World America") and Wonder Woman was her big break after a few low profile gigs. She starred as the Amazon princess for three seasons stretching from the pilot's airing in November 1975 through the finale in September 1979.

I know you've heard it before, but yes, Arrested Development is the greatest television show of all time. No other comedy has been as cleverly and tightly scripted; so layered with jokes, callbacks, and foreshadowing that multiple viewings are required to catch all the continuing gags, both visual and verbal. Mitch Hurwitz created the show, which first aired in 2003 and ran on Fox for three seasons, before returning for a fourth on Netflix seven years after the show's initial cancellation. Just as the writing cannot be topped, there has been no better cast assembled, featuring Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Tony Hale, Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walter, Portia de Rossi, Alia Shawkat, David Cross, and, of course, comedy-god Will Arnett.
It was announced earlier this month that Arrested Development would return to Netflix for a much needed fifth season, wrapping up the cliffhangers that Season 4 left us with in 2013. That season,...

The Dceu marches on with Wonder Woman coming our way this Thursday, the iconic DC Comics heroine getting her first solo movie after making quite the impact in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. With a 75 plus year history under her belt, there’s a lot going on with the Mistress of Might you might not be aware of. So, here’s five things you didn’t know about Wonder Woman. 1. Wonder Woman was created in 1941 by psychologist and writer William Moulton Marston as new type of hero who would win the day through love and fists or firepower. The inspiration for the character came form Marston’s wife, Elizabeth, and Olive Byrne, the woman both were in a polyamorous relationship with. Marston also created an early version of the lie detector, which went onto inspire Wonder Woman’s Lasso of Truth. 2. Wonder Woman’s original origin was that she...

After 76 years as a trailblazer for DC Comics, Wonder Woman stars in her first film. What took so long? Hollywood, scared off by the box-office failuresof female-driven comic-book movies such as Catwoman and Elektra, has essentially stuck todudes in spandex and bat-drag. The good news is that this big-screen outing for William Moulton Marston's creation is that it leaves the cornball 1970’s TV series with Lynda Carter in the dust and is leagues better than Suicide Squad, the last DC Extended Universe movie to stink up the multiplex. And...

Directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster, AMC’s The Killing) and starring Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious) in the titular role, Wonder Woman made her big screen debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but this new film will mark her first time the character has headlined a solo feature – though you’d be hard-pressed to top Lynda Carter’s formidable run as the character on TV. However with a script by Allan Heinberg (The Oc, Young Avengers), I have high hopes for this being a monster of a summer hit – and it looks, from the reviews/comments I seen so far, it may well be!

The latest Wonder Woman poster features our hero lifting up a freakin' tank over her head, which I assume she's going to throw at someone. I'm mean, what else would you use a tank for if you're going to lift it up over your head? There have been a lot of cool posters released for this film that include some great heroic poses from Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman.
I've also included a fun Supergirl cross-promotion TV spot that mainly focuses on Melissa Benoist as Supergirl wearing Wonder Woman's boots. It also features a cameo from the original Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, who is a guest star in the series. It doesn't really make that much sense, but it's all in good fun.
Wonder Woman hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action adventure from director Patty Jenkins.
