Blade has been plagued by production woes ever since it was first announced over four years ago, going through a number of directors and writers.
The project finally seemed to be back on track after a recent Production Weekly update claimed that shooting was set to commence this Fall, but we'd later learn that a new writer was being sought to give the script yet another major overhaul.
Marvel mainstay Eric Pearson (The Fantastic Four) is said to be working on the script, but the studio now has another spot to fill!
Earlier this month, a rumor claimed that production had completely restarted because "key players involved with the reboot are dissatisfied with the script." We're not sure if this was on the level, but The Wrap is now reporting that yet another director has parted ways with the project.

Another one bites the dust.
Filmmaker Yann Demange (“Lovecraft Country”) is no longer set to direct “Blade,” Marvel Studios’ long-in-the-works reboot of the vampire superhero franchise set to star Mahershala Ali. This is the second director to leave the project; Bassam Tariq (“Mogul Mowgli”) exited the production in 2022.
Insiders say Demange departed the film amicably weeks ago, as development on the project has stretched over multiple years. Screenwriter Eric Pearson, who co-wrote “The Fantastic Four” for Marvel, is the latest scribe to take on the “Blade” script, after at least five other writers have taken passes on the film, including Michael Green, Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Michael Starrbury, Beau DeMayo and Nic Pizzolatto.
While Marvel has not officially moved “Blade” off of its Nov. 7, 2025, release date, it is looking increasingly unlikely that the project will be able to start production in time to make that date. The next four Marvel films on...

Joseph Quinn put himself on the map with a standout performance as Eddie Munson in Netflix's Stranger Things, but by far his biggest role will be as Johnny Storm, a.k.a the Human Torch, in Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four.
If all goes to plan, it's a character he'll portray for the next decade or more; however, in an interview with GQ, Quinn admits, "That was a surprising phone call." While he's still processing landing the role (previously brought to life on screen by Chris Evans and Michael B. Jordan), he notes that "the wheels are getting moving" on the project.
"I’ve met Ebon very briefly, Vanessa I have lots of mutual friends with," Quinn says of his co-stars. He already knows Pedro Pascal because they've worked on Ridley Scott's Gladiator sequel together, but there's one cast member, in particular, he's thrilled to share the screen with: John Malkovich.

A combination of Jonathan Majors' firing and the tepid response to Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania has led to Marvel Studios changing its plans for Kang the Conqueror.
While the time-travelling villain and his many Variants are still expected to factor into the Multiverse Saga, it's thought he'll be replaced or at least joined by one or more threats to the Multiverse. The question is, who will that be when Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars roll around?

The unbelievable but perfectly deserved success of X-Men ‘97 gave fans one of the best TV/movie adaptations of the evergreen X-Men in recent years. The show, which was a revival of the classic 90s TV series, delightfully managed to stay consistent with the traditional arc while giving fans plenty to chew on for the time being.

Marvel Studios had huge plans for Kang the Conqueror prior to actor Jonathan Majors being dropped from the role after being convicted of assault, and while the character is still expected to feature in the MCU in some capacity going forward, we still don't know exactly what Kevin Feige and co. have in store for the powerful villain.
Though Avengers 5 is no longer titled "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty," previous reports have claimed that the character will still appear in a greatly reduced role.
Back in January, Deadline's Justin Kroll responded to the rumor that Coleman Domingo was being eyed to replace Majors.
"See a lot 'who will play Kang next' and 'here is a top contender for Kang' comments this week, and all I’ll say is this, don’t expect that news anytime soon," Kroll wrote in an X post. "There will be plenty of Marvel breaks in...

Marvel Studios first announced plans to reboot the Fantastic Four in 2019. The Covid-19 pandemic and Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts' decision to leave the project slowed things down, but The Fantastic Four is finally heading our way next year.
WandaVision's Matt Shakman will be at the helm, and a first-look promo image confirmed it takes place in the 1960s...and in another reality.
Fans had long wondered how Marvel Studios would go about introducing Marvel's First Family, with the prevailing theory being that they might have gained their powers during The Blip. Instead, they'll hail from another Earth altogether.
That doesn't mean they won't eventually make their way to a more familiar setting, of course.

Most Marvel fans are at their wit’s end because they are absolutely clueless about Kang following the dismissal of Jonathan Majors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor was found guilty of assault and harassing his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Sadly, the actor’s exit from the superhero franchise had brought Avengers 5 to a standstill.

Jonathan Majors was supposed to be the next big bad villain for the two upcoming Avengers films, that is Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
While the film came to a dead stop for quite some time, it looks like Marvel Studios went back to the planning board and decided to pull the plug on Majors’ Kang the Conqueror for the time being. Since MCU is reportedly looking to focus on other villains than the one they had initially planned.

The Office alum John Krasinski had long been a fan-favourite choice to play Mister Fantastic and finally got the chance to do so as a member of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' Illuminati.
Added during reshoots, Reed Richards' role in the sequel was far too brief and his death at the hands of the Scarlet Witch...well, the less said about that, the better. Even so, many fans appreciated seeing Krasinski suit up and it was a nice surprise for the stretchy superhero to make his MCU debut on Earth-838.

For a while now, the status of Marvel’s next Avengers movie has been in flux. Back in July 2022, Kevin Feige announced that the Multiverse Saga would offer up two major hero team-up movies: Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and Avengers: Secret Wars. But in the wake of underperforming Phase 4 movies, and Jonathan Majors being dropped as Kang after an assault conviction, the plan changed – The Kang Dynasty is no more, Shang-Chi’s Destin Daniel Cretton stepped down from directing to focus on Shang-Chi 2 instead, and little has moved since then.

The upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot has generated significant buzz as one of the most anticipated projects currently in development. This film aims to revitalize the previously lackluster ‘Fantastic Four’ franchise, which received mixed reviews in its earlier iterations.
However, the timing of the movie’s release is somewhat precarious. Marvel Studios faces scrutiny due to a series of underwhelming projects in recent years, leading to waning fan interest. Unfortunately, this trend has also resulted in Disney setting unflattering records as the biggest box-office loser of 2023.

The upcoming ‘The Fantastic Four’ reboot is one of the most talked about projects currently in development. The movie is supposed to reboot the older ‘Fantastic Four’ franchise which was met with mixed reviews at best.

Marvel’s The Fantastic Four has had a difficult time being adapted to say the least. First came a 1994 attempt which was only made so the rights could be held and can only be found on bootleg copies. Then came 2005’s Fantastic Four and its 2007 sequel, Rise of the Silver Surfer, with Fantastic Four arriving nearly a decade later. As it stands, these three have a combined Rotten Tomatoes score of 75%! So, yes, we’re still very hesitant to get our hopes up about next year’s go. And before Paul Walter Hauser was cast, he was just as nervous.
Hauser, whose role in The Fantastic Four has yet to be unveiled, almost turned down a chance to be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe solely because of the history of the property on the big screen. “Don’t think that didn’t weigh in as I was deciding whether or not to take the job.

Marvel's First Family hasn't had much luck on screen. There was the infamous 1994 Fantastic Four movie produced by the late Roger Corman which never officially saw the light of day and then the big budget 2005 and 2007 movies starring Chris Evans, Jessica Alba, Ioan Gruffudd and Michael Chiklis.
Those weren't great and were a product of their time; so, when a reboot from Chronicle director Josh Trank rolled around in 2015, there was a fair bit of excitement among fans.
The trailers promised a body-horror tale but studio-mandated reshoots turned it into a mess.
The team has sat on the shelf ever since, though that will finally change next year with Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four. Filmmaker Matt Shakman has assembled an impressive A-List cast, including Black Bird and Cruella star Paul Walter Hauser.
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor admitted that those awful past efforts made him think twice about starring in this latest reboot.

In this feature, we've rounded up several alternative suggestions who would each be suitably terrifying and formidable as the McU's Doom. Crucially, they're not the names you'd necessarily expect to see.

Brie Larson knows the highs and lows of working in the superhero world. She made her own superhero debut in the 2019 film Captain Marvel, which earned over $1 billion at the global box office and became one of the top 25 highest grossing films of all time. She played the character again in Avengers: Endgame, which was released just weeks after Captain Marvel and earned almost $3 billion at the box office, briefly becoming the #1 highest grossing film of all time. We saw Larson’s Captain Marvel again in the 2021 hit Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, an episode of the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel, and last year’s The Marvels… which did not replicate Captain Marvel‘s success, making just over $200 million at the box office and becoming the lowest-grossing film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There are a lot of varying opinions about Larson’s performance and attitude, but...

Brad Pitt and George Clooney are back together on film — outside of the “Ocean’s” cinematic universe.
The duo co-star in action-comedy movie “Wolfs,” which is written and directed by Jon Watts. In “Wolfs,” Clooney plays a professional fixer hired to cover up a high-profile crime. But when a second fixer (Pitt) shows up and the two “lone wolves” are forced to work together, they find their night spiraling out of control in ways that neither one of them expected. Just another night in the fixer industry, we imagine.
Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams, and Poorna Jagannathan co-star in “Wolfs.”
Both Clooney and Pitt produce the film, as do Watts, Grant Heslov, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Dianne McGunigle. Michael Beugg executive produces.
Watts is also making a Steven Spielberg-inspired “Star Wars” series for Disney+ that will star Jude Law. Watts was actually supposed to direct the “Fantastic Four” reboot,...

Earlier today, we shared a news item about Rahul Kohli being a bit heartbroken that he didn’t land a role in Marvel Studios’ “The Fantastic Four.” Now, here’s a story about another actor, Glen Powell, who is finally able to joke about the fact that he “blew” the final audition for a major “Star Wars” role. It goes to show you how actors can never forget the times they came so close to landing career-changing roles.

‘Thunderbolts*’ is one of several highly anticipated projects set for release in 2025. While it may not be generating as much buzz as the ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot or ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ the rumors suggest it has the potential to launch an exciting new franchise.
This film will introduce a new team to the MCU, akin to DC’s Suicide Squad, and it seems their stories will follow similar patterns.
According to notable scooper and leaker Daniel Richtman, Yelena, US Agent, Ghost, and Taskmaster are sent by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine to eliminate a target in a vault. Upon realizing they have been set up to die on this mission, they unite to take down their boss.

‘Thunderbolts*’ is just one of many upcoming projects scheduled to be released in 2025. Bryan Cranston is a true great, and while the Argylle star is no stranger to genre fare, he's yet to star in a comic book movie or TV show.
The actor was a fan-favourite choice to play Lex Luthor for a time, but that always felt like a knee-jerk response to what a terrific job he did as a bald antagonist in Breaking Bad. Of course, we're also well-aware that many of you would love to see him portray Stan "The Man" Lee in a future biopic.
Today, we have word from scooper @MyTimeToShineH that Cranston has met with Marvel Studios about a mystery MCU role. Kevin Feige has general meetings with lots of actors, so there's nothing to say this will lead anywhere.
It's an undeniably exciting prospect, though, particularly with movies like The Fantastic Four, Avengers 5, and the X-Men reboot on the horizon.

When the cast of next year’s The Fantastic Four was announced, a lot of people – including our readers – were left underwhelmed. One decision that failed to push much interest was Pedro Pascal, who was cast as Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic. We all love Pascal but one does have to wonder what somebody else could do with the role; and certainly there were a lot of other names that were either considered or wanted it. One in the latter camp is Rahul Kohli, better known for TV work for Mike Flanagan.
Rahul Kohli recently recalled being passed over for one of the lead roles in The Fantastic Four, saying it represents where he is in his career. “I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about it but I didn’t get it, is the important thing. But on good days, I see the Constantine. It will flare up once and again.

Breaking Bad and The Boys star Giancarlo Esposito recently revealed he's joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a mystery role. A few hours ago, a rumour cropped up claiming he'll star in a Disney+ TV series and the actor himself has now confirmed that is indeed the case.
"The MCU has knocked on my door and it's a role you won’t predict," Esposito told fans during a recent convention appearance. "It will be teased and there will be a series afterwards."
This appears to debunk theories he'll voice Norman Osborn in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man as there's nowhere for that villain to be teased before the animated series launches on the streamer either this year or next.
Interestingly, the fan who shared these updates adds that when someone mentioned to Esposito that he'd make an "excellent" Doctor Doom in The Fantastic Four, he mentioned "talking it into existence and making yourself believe in it.

Months ago, Marvel Studios unveiled the actors set to portray the core characters in the upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot. Pedro Pascal was selected to embody Reed Richards, while Vanessa Kirby was cast as Sue Storm. Joseph Quinn will portray the Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will bring The Thing to life. Additionally, Julia Garner will play Shalla-Bal, the MCU’s version of Silver Surfer.
The casting stirred controversy, with much of the criticism aimed at Garner’s portrayal of Silver Surfer. Pedro Pascal also faced scrutiny, with some fans expressing doubt about his suitability for the role of Mr. Fantastic, still holding onto the idea of John Krasinski as Reed Richards.
During a recent interview with Salaam Nerds, Rahul Kohli disclosed that he was in contention for the role but ultimately lost out to the star of ‘The Last of Us.’ He described his feelings about the loss as fluctuating from day to day.

Several months ago Marvel Studios announced the the actors that will be playing the core roles of the upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot. Pedro Pascal was chosen to portray Reed Richards alongside Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm. The duo will be joined by Joseph Quinn’s Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s The Thing. Julia Garner will be portraying Shalla-Bal MCU’s version of Silver Surfer.
The casting was highly scandalous, the majority of the hate directed toward Garner’s Silver Surfer but Pedro Pascal received some comments as well, as a good portion of the fandom doesn’t think that he has what it takes to play Mr. Fantastic, still hung up on the idea of Krasinski as Reed Richards.

Rumours about who will direct Spider-Man 4 continue to swirl, with Ms. Marvel and Batgirl directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah among those supposedly in the mix.
Jon Watts helmed Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home but appears ready to move on from the web-slinger. Despite also leaving The Fantastic Four, Kevin Feige is said to be keen on Watts returning to the MCU for another project.
Appearing at a recent screening event for Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Fallah was asked to speak on the Spider-Man 4 rumours and his reaction (refusing to answer the question while saying "I can't talk about that...") may be telling.
While we're not suggesting this has confirmed his and El Arbi's involvement with the movie, it seems highly likely the duo are likely contenders.

There is little doubt that Marvel has seen a gross loss in quality in recent years, perhaps after the incessant success of Avengers: Endgame. However, things are certainly looking on the up, at least potentially, with a range of exciting projects set to be released in the coming time.
This, quite notably, includes the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, which has been allotted a release date of July 25, 2025, for the time being. Featuring a glut of stars such as Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, it seems as if another superstar of Indian origin, previously seen in CBS’s SuperGirl, Rahul Kohli, was also in the running for a major role.

Rahul Kohli was close to joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the actor tried out for a role in the upcoming The Fantastic Four.
The actor from iZombie and The Fall of the House of Usher recently revealed he was being considered for the role of Mister Fantastic, Reed Richards.
“Yeah, I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about it but I didn’t get it, is the important thing. But on good days, I see the Constantine,” Kohli said in an interview with Salaam Nerds. “It will flare up once and again. And, I love all of them. He continued, “On bad days, ‘It’s a reminder that you’re not the guy. You’re not there. These are the roles you’ll never get.

After seemingly endless rumours, Marvel Studios finally announced The Fantastic Four cast earlier this year. Each of them had been linked to the reboot at one time or another, so there were no major surprises for those who had been closely following the casting process.
Oppenheimer star David Krumholtz has confirmed he tried and failed to play the McU's Thing, and now Midnight Mass star Rahul Kohli has revealed that he missed out on being cast as Mister Fantastic.
He was long a fan favourite choice for Reed Richards and, in the video below, admits to being beaten to the part by The Mandalorian's Pedro Pascal.

Ebon Moss-Bachrach may soon be a household name due to his standout supporting role as Richie Jerimovich on the hit FX (for Hulu) television series “The Bear.” And if that doesn’t do it, perhaps his recently announced casting as Ben Grimm aka The Thing in Marvel’s film version of “The Fantastic Four” will.
Of course, there are some who have been all-in on Moss-Bachrach since his performance as Desi on HBO’s “Girls.” Those playing catchup on his career should perhaps start with an even-earlier role that stands out for many now in retrospect — a brief appearance as Frederick the bellboy in Wes Anderson’s “The Royal Tenenbaums.” With a mop of floppy curls under a round hotel cap, Moss-Bachrach was only 23 at the time of filming, but held his own against scene partner and legendary screen actor Gene Hackman.
“He’s a pro,” said Moss-Bachrach of Hackman during a profile in GQ.

The Fantastic Four has been rumored to take place in a completely separate universe for the MCU, before making the jump to the Sacred Timeline during the events of Avengers: Secret Wars. There is yet to be official confirmation about whether this is actually going to be the case, but if true, The Fantastic Four will be able to deliver a cliffhanger as big as the one we saw in Avengers: Infinity War.

If Marvel’s The Fantastic Four does indeed take place in a separate universe, this allows the film to take a more liberated approach with its story, as the film would not be beholden to all the development of the mainline MCU. We've come to the end of another week here on Cbm, and while it's been a bit of a slow few days for major news, there are more than enough rumors doing the rounds to keep you going!
In this latest round-up of Marvel Cinematic Universe-related rumors, we have (possible) updates on quite a few upcoming big-screen releases, including The Fantastic Four, the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings sequel, and Avengers 5/Secret Wars. Avengers 5 Gets A Rumored Production Update; Story Said To Be "Grounded" Despite Multiverse Elements
Marvel Studios' next big MCU event will be Avengers 5 (FKA Avengers: The Kang Dynasty), and we may now have a pretty good idea of when production is scheduled to get underway.
A previous report claimed that filming was set to begin this December, but according to insider Daniel Richtman, cameras won't actually start rolling until January 2025 in the UK.
Despite Jonathan Majors' recent firing, Kang is still expected to appear, although we can't see the character playing nearly as big a role in the story. As we know, Loki writer Michael Waldron was hired to pen a new draft of the script, but reports indicate that the events of Loki season 2 are still going to inform the main plotline, which means Kang would likely remain on as a supporting character (at the very least).

X-Men ‘97 has left fans more excited than ever before to see a live-action take on the mutant team. Movies like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and The Marvels have offered a glimpse of what the heroes could look like in the MCU, with Deadpool & Wolverine set to do the same later this summer.
The difference there, though, is that those are the 20th Century Fox Variants of the X-Men; what Marvel Studios does with its long-awaited reboot will surely be completely different. And, if X-Men ‘97 is any indication, we’re in store for something truly special (the series has been praised for its compelling take on the heroes and the way their powers have been portrayed in new and visually distinct ways).

Let’s not beat around the bush; Marvel’s going through something right now. The superhero studio’s recent output has simply exhausted both casual and hardcore fans alike.
The sentiment appears to be close to universal too: amidst the avalanche of MCU content, there have been too few hits and too many misses. The fact that Bob Iger, Disney’s Chief Executive Officer, has publicly said that they’re going to change strategy and “slowly decrease volume” tells you everything you need to know.
So how does Marvel proceed from here? MCU mastermind Kevin Feige is seemingly planning to course-correct by re-assembling the Avengers sooner rather than later. Next year alone will see the release of Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, The Fantastic Four, and Blade, followed a few months later by a new Avengers—previously subtitled “The Kang Dynasty,” though that’s reportedly been abandoned.
It’s a sensible play.

The Fantastic Four is gearing up to begin shooting later this summer and Marvel Studios has now enlisted a cinematographer in Jess Hall.
He's no stranger to period pieces and previously worked with director Matt Shakman on WandaVision and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Other credits include Chevalier, Ghost in the Shell, Hot Fuzz, and The Spectacular Now.
The news that he'll serve as The Fantastic Four's Director of Photography comes our way from Hall's website. Shakman and Hall reteaming isn't a surprise, and based on her work in WandaVision, he won't struggle to make this movie look visually distinct.
In other news, Hollywood insider Matt Beloni recently weighed in on Marvel Studios' upcoming projects in an edition of his podcast titled, "The Best and Worst Media Mergers of the 21st Century."

But seems like viewers will have to indulge a little more than usual if they want to experience movies and not just watch them. Just ask Christopher Nolan, and he can tell you all about the IMAX experience.

And now, others are looking to emulate the same in their movie-making. In their 2025 slate, IMAX will be releasing no less than 14 movies in their “filmed for IMAX” format. And out of these 14, 5 of them are superhero flicks from both Dcu and the MCU. Looks like it will be less of Netflix and more of IMAX for next year.

But will Snipes step in for a cameo?
This week, Wesley Snipes responded to an article that reported that he was “already signed to do some stuff” in next year’s Blade by writing, “Whuhuuuut?” along with the side eye emoji.

Now, this doesn’t necessarily confirm anything and right now his involvement is all hearsay. And, really, Snipes’ comment over his Blade involvement could be read in one of two ways: either he is signed on and playing coy or it’s...
