In 2022, rising out against the pandemic and towards a box office resurrection, The Batman from Matt Reeves starring Robert Pattinson also went down as one of the most fan-favorite outings of the character. Featuring a young version of the Caped Crusader, who had just begun his work in ridding the streets of Gotham, crime-free, the movie amassed acclaim for a number of creative decisions that had never made their way to the big screens before, making fans clamor and demand for more.

DC’s movie adaptations of comics currently have two live-action Batmen. One is in Gunn’s upcoming ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ while the other is part of a project spun off from the Dceu under the ‘Elseworlds’ label: Matt Reeves’s ‘The Batman,’ starring Robert Pattinson.
‘The Batman’ was intended to be the first in a trilogy of movies. Shortly after its release, ‘The Batman – Part II’ was announced. In December 2021, Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves discussed ideas for future Batman films, including introducing Robin and featuring various villains like the Court of Owls. Then, in April 2022, Warner Bros. announced the development of the next Batman film, with Matt Reeves directing and Robert Pattinson starring.
The movie experienced delays a few months ago, and there has been no news since. However, a rumor recently circulated on social media suggesting that Parts 2 and 3 would be filmed back-to-back in 2025.

Update: James Gunn has responded and it seems we can write this particular rumour off as being incorrect.

A few months ago, The Batman 2 was pushed back by a whole year, raising more questions about how the "Elseworlds" movie will fit into DC Studios' wider plans for the Dcu.
While James Gunn has said out-of-continuity projects will continue to be made, it's still strange to think that The Batman sequel will have to compete with The Brave and the Bold, a Batman and Robin-led project featuring a different Dark Knight.
Still, The Batman was a hit for Warner Bros. in 2022 (it earned over $770 million) and they're the ones who have the final say, not DC Studios.

There are ample reasons why Matt Reeves’ superhero flick with its noir edges and pensive tones instantly bewitched fans. From Robert Pattinson’s brooding Caped Crusader against the tragic backdrop of Gotham City and a rich, compelling storyline that highlights Batman’s detective side to the laudable production, The Batman was both a cinematic and commercial success.

But where Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne checked all the boxes and more, Barry Keoghan’s Joker seems to have fallen short. Or at least that’s what some moviegoers think.
How Barry Keoghan’s Joker in The Batman Differs From Past Versions
Unlike previous versions of the classic villain, Barry Keoghan’s Clown Prince of Crime in Matt Reeves’ The Batman has a congenital condition owing to which he cannot stop smiling. Not only that, but the Joker also has a more distinct facial scarring, which only accentuates Keoghan’s malformed look.

Robert Pattinson shocked the world when he portrayed the role of Bruce Wayne aka Batman in Matt Reeves’ 2022 film, The Batman. From being remembered solely as Edward Cullen in Twilight to portraying the DC superhero, Pattinson had quite the jump.

With big jumps comes big earnings and Pattinson was paid greatly for his roles in several movies. However, his multi-year deal with a luxury fashion house made Pattinson $9 million richer than what he earned for his role in The Batman!

Batman has seen various incarnations over the years, whether it be live-action or animation. The character remains one of the most beloved among the pantheon of DC heroes, and multiple stories surrounding the character continue to be adapted. One of the unique iterations of the character was 2018’s Batman Ninja, putting a Japanese spin to the character.

The Dcu, a ‘broad but not blanket’ reset of the Dceu, headed by James Gunn, has a lot riding on it when it comes to the future of Warner Bros. in general. While the highly anticipated Superman movie is set to become the first major offering under the new regime, a number of other highly-anticipated movies are also in the pipeline.
This includes the upcoming Batman II movie, which is set to further the journey of Robert Pattinson’s Batman and is rumored to have a place for Barry Keoghan’s Joker. While there have been rumors of several other antagonists who might as well end up being a part of Batman II, a fan on Twitter recently came up with his own iteration of how the movie should look like.

Mattson Tomlin, showrunner and writer of the Terminator Zero anime series at Netflix, was not very comfortable writing some parts of season 1 consisting of eight episodes. Amid a few hurdles, the writer had to overcome the biggest problem, and that was eliminating guns from the show. Can you imagine Terminator without guns?
Terminator Zero
The live-action Terminator saga has been action-packed with continuous gun blazing and several explosions. But Netflix, Skydance, and animation studio Production I.G. were all in favor of Terminator Zero to have a Japanese angle. However, Japanese culture is very different from the United States. Japanese gun law has limited the accessibility of guns over the decades, and even the police would first engage in hand-to-hand combat before using guns.

Despite decent reviews, the last Terminator movie, Dark Fate, was the latest instalment in the franchise to underperform at the box office, and it will probably be a very long time before we see the war against the machines continue on the big screen.
While the saga may be taking a (possibly permanent) break in live-action, a new 8-episode Netflix anime series titled Terminator Zero is on the way, and is set to premiere on August 29.
If that date sounds familiar, we were told that the Judgment Day event occurred on August 29, 1997 in the movies.
The streamer (via EW) has debuted the first official promo images for the show, which will take the classic sci-fi franchise in a completely new direction by moving the story to Tokyo, Japan, and, for the first time, shifting away from Sarah and John Connor, who have (together or separately) featured in all previous Terminator movies.

The first two "Terminator" movies are amongst the greatest works of science-fiction in American cinema — which makes the fact the original "Terminator" almost did not happen baffling. These films gave us groundbreaking special effects and iconic lines of dialogue, along with some rather scary predictions of the future.
Of course, the "Terminator" franchise has also given us some very mediocre sequels. Now, after six movies and a live-action TV show, the property is finally entering animation, with "The Batman 2" writer Mattson Tomlin spearheading the anime "Terminator Zero" for Netflix. After the streamer, Skydance, and Production I.G decided they wanted the show to have a Japanese component, Tomlin decided to set the anime in Japan. That decision brought with it a big problem, however. As Tomlin told Entertainment Weekly, "I was aware that there aren't really guns in Japan, and I don't think I quite appreciated how real that was.

Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Films may currently be in production on the first of the studio’s rebooted and reimagined superhero franchise pictures, but that doesn’t mean executives can’t make announcements about the second one.
“Supergirl: World of Tomorrow” will hit theaters (and IMAX) on June 26, 2026, as per reports. Milly Alcock, the 24-year-old Australian actress, will play Supergirl, also known as Kara Zor-El, also known as Kara Danvers, the cousin of Kal-El, the Last Son of Krypton, also known as Kal-El, also known as Clark Kent, also known as Superman. Kara Zor-El, by the way, should not be confused with Kara Zor-l, also known as Karen Starr, also known as Power Girl, who is also Superman’s cousin, but, like, from a different universe. It’s complicated. Alcock is best known for the part of Young Rhaenyra Targaryen in “House of the Dragon.”

The Dark Knight trilogy is one of the finest superhero franchises out there, and while The Dark Knight Rises did close the book on Christian Bale’s Batman, screenwriter Jonathan Nolan would eagerly return for more.
Jonathan Nolan, who co-wrote both The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, was asked by Showsha if he’d like to return to the Batman franchise. “Wouldn’t that be a dream?” Nolan said. “That period was 10 years of my life [from] when I got the call to work on Batman Begins, and it was epic. Working with Christian [Bale], Heath [Ledger], Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and to honor an American icon. If I had the chance to go back and work on that again? Absolutely.“
Getting that bang back together would be a tall order, as Nolan admitted, “We’ve moved onto other things,” and “other people have picked up the mantel and moved on with those characters.

The Dark Knight trilogy is considered, by some, the best superhero franchise ever made. The trio of films directed by Christopher Nolan, released between 2005 and 2012, are revered for their grown-up, adult crime drama vibe and cinematic scope.
Now Nolan’s brother and franchise co-writer Jonathan Nolan says he’d be down to return to the Batman universe.

The first trailer for Joker: Folie à Deux brings together unites Oscar winners Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga for one of the more intriguing entries of the 2024 theatrical calendar.
Warner Bros. unveiled the look at CinemaCon, where Joker 2 is among the top titles theater owners were curious for a glimpse at — and for good reason. It’s a sequel to a $1 billion hit that earned Phoenix an Oscar, but is also taking a left turn by entering the musical genre.
But director Todd Phillips noted that in some ways it’s not all that different from the first, which also had music as a key element.
“We never talked about it like that,” said Phillips when asked if it was a musical. “I like to say it’s a movie where music is an essential element. To me, that doesn’t veer to far from the first film.” In the first film,...

Last week, Max finally released the trailer for their much-anticipated The Batman spin-off series, The Penguin, teeing up its fall release date. Overall, it looks highly reminiscent of Matt Reeves’ film, with the cinematography very much in the Grieg Fraser mode. But what else do we know about The Penguin? More than you may think.
The Penguin is set after The Batman.
The plot of The Penguin is set to follow the title character, once again portrayed by Colin Farrell, as he rises through the ranks of the Gotham City criminal underworld. After the events of The Batman and the flooding of Gotham, including the death of Carmine Falcone, Cobblepot desperately wants to fill the power vacuum. Colin Farrell has also indicated that the film will serve as an origin story for the Penguin, something we have seen twice on screen before in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns, played by Danny DeVito.

Back in 2022 former freelance artist for DC Comics, Christopher Wozniak sued Warner Brothers for apparently plagiarising his work. Not long after ‘The Batman’ premiered, Wozniak expressed shock at Warner Bros., Matt Reeves, and Peter Craig, alleging they copied his story ‘The Ultimate Riddle,’ renamed ‘The Blind Man’s Hat.’ Wozniak promptly hired a lawyer, leading to a copyright infringement lawsuit dubbed “Batmangate.”
The original lawsuit, filed in October 2022, led to Warner Bros. countersuing Wozniak, arguing his story infringed on their copyright by including Batman characters without permission. Despite Wozniak’s defense, the judge ruled in DC’s favor, stating Reeves and Craig didn’t plagiarize Wozniak. Instead, Wozniak was found guilty of copyright infringement for using DC characters without authorization.

In a 45-page decision, U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer concluded that Warner Bros. and ‘The Batman’ writer/director Matt Reeves did not copy Christopher Wozniak’s story ‘The Ultimate...

Debunking fun and exciting rumors is a dirty job sometimes, but someone has to do it. It stands to reason that a movie like "The Batman: Part II" would attract plenty of attention and interest, given the accolades that rolled in immediately following star Robert Pattinson's highly-anticipated introduction as the grungiest and most emo version of Bruce Wayne/Batman we've seen on the big screen yet. Director Matt Reeves didn't just helm another successful reboot for the most popular DC superhero while putting his own unique spin on it, but he did so by assembling a cast full of our greatest actors around. With stars like Zoë Kravitz, Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Andy Serkis, and even Paul Dano surrounding Pattinson, it's no surprise that fans would look forward to what other talent might be coming on board for the sequel.

DC’s live-action Batman projects currently include Gunn’s upcoming ‘The Brave and the Bold’ and Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’ under the ‘Elseworlds’ label, starring Robert Pattinson.
Originally planned as the first of a trilogy, ‘The Batman’ quickly led to the announcement of ‘The Batman – Part II.’ In December 2021, Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves discussed ideas for future Batman films, such as introducing Robin and featuring villains like the Court of Owls. In April 2022, Warner Bros. confirmed the development of the next Batman film, with Matt Reeves directing and Robert Pattinson reprising his role.
Recently, news broke that the movie would be delayed by a full year. Instead of its original release date in October 2025, the movie is now slated to hit theaters on October 2, 2026. While several reasons have been speculated for the delay, including the SAG-AFTRA strike and theories about Gunn’s preferences, none have been officially confirmed.

Before Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” opened in theaters in March 2022, there was a lot of discussion online surrounding the movie’s rating. Many comic book fans were hoping to get the first Dark Knight movie with an R rating, but the film earned a PG-13 nonetheless. The universe of “The Batman” is expanding with the upcoming Max series “The Penguin,” starring Colin Farrell as Gotham City gangster Oswald Cobblepot. The actor recently told MovieZine that the series is “incredibly violent,” which should appease the “The Batman” fans who wanted an ultra-violent R-rated cut of the film.
“It was a long and really wonderful experience,” Farrell said about filming “The Penguin” series. “It’s dark; that’s what I can tell you about it. It’s really dark. It’s really heavy, I think— it certainly was doing it. Which is not to say I didn’t have fun, I had an amazing time doing it.

The Penguin trailer offers a glimpse into the forthcoming installment of The Batman saga ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
The latest trailer for The Penguin sees Colin Farrell reprising his role as Oswald Cobblepot, alias Penguin. The trailer delves into the DC villain’s contemplation of the posthumous recognition bestowed upon a local gangster by the community during his upbringing, prompting Cobblepot to ponder the significance of such acknowledgement. “Can you imagine being remembered like that?” Cobblepot queries an off-screen character. The trailer doesn’t spill much about the story, but it does give us quick peeks at Cristin Milioti playing Sofia Falcone and Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni.
Announced in September 2021, “The Penguin” continues the saga of Colin Farrell’s Oswald Cobblepot shortly after the events depicted in “The Batman 2023,” as he manoeuvres to assert his authority within Gotham’s criminal hierarchy. The production of the eight-episode limited series commenced in...

The DC universe is in an exciting place, because of how nebulous the future is. The old universe is dead and gone, but James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Universe hasn't started yet. We don't know how the new takes on classic characters will go, whether a brand new Batman and Robin will work in live-action, whether Gunn will actually deliver on his big galoot Superman, or whether we'll get more than one project before the entire studio is sold yet again.
Before all that happens, we still have Matt Reeves' "The Batman," which was a huge surprise and one of the best Batman movies ever. We don't know what place this take on the character will have in Gunn's universe, but at least for now, Reeves is not going anywhere. While we wait for "The Batman 2," we have our first look at the first spin-off of Reeves' universe — "The Penguin" TV series.

The Penguin is ready to take the big seat. Colin Farrell is back as The Penguin in the new trailer for his Max series, which spins out of the world of the 2022 DC film The Batman.
In the events of the film, The Penguin served as a lieutenant to crime boss Carmine Falcone, who meets an untimely end. Now, The Penguin is stepping up to lead crime in Gotham City in a series that looks like DC’s answer to The Sopranos.
The series hails from DC Studios, the Warner Bros. division run by James Gunn and Peter Safran, who are plotting out their own shared universe of movies and TV shows. Both The Batman and The Penguin are considered separate from those plans, and take place in their own universe under the Elseworlds banner — a nod to alternate universe stories in the DC Comics.

Though many critics thought another Batman reboot would be overkill, filmmaker Matt Reeves largely silenced early detractors with his moody and atmospheric “The Batman” (2022), which starred Robert Pattinson. As we eagerly await “The Batman—Part II,” Reeves will flesh out his vision for Gotham City with “The Batman” spinoff series “The Penguin.” Focusing on the crime villain Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin (played by Colin Farrell), the series is set in the aftermath of a power vacuum in the crime-ridden megalopolis of Gotham created by the death of crime boss Carmine Falcone (played by John Turturro in Reeves’ first film).

Most viewers of The Batman would have been unaware that Colin Farrell was portraying Oswald Cobblepot if it had not been revealed ahead of time that he was playing Penguin. Thanks to hours spent every day in the makeup chair, Farrell’s portrayal of the Gotham City supervillain in the movie is totally unrecognizable. Even with his limited screen time, the character stole the show in a few moments, and a lot of fans believe Penguin’s role in this film was perfect.
It is worth noting that, in order to bring such a stunning character to life on screen, Farrell, 47, “fought valiantly”, but he wasn’t able to get ‘one special’ prop for his character. Yes, we are referring to his renowned cigar.

Superman has been featured in numerous adaptations across different media, from animated series to live-action productions, providing plenty of entertainment options. One standout project is ‘Smallville,’ a live-action TV series that aired from 2002 to 2011, spanning 10 seasons. Many fans consider ‘Smallville’ to have showcased the best portrayal of a young Superman, portrayed by Tom Welling, and his archenemy, Lex Luthor, played by Michael Rosenbaum.

Jake Gyllenhaal still has his eyes set on hopefully playing Batman at some point during his acting career.
The actor was previously considered for the role of Bruce Wayne in Christopher Nolan’s 2005 Batman Begins, but the role ultimately went to Christian Bale. However, that hasn’t changed his aspirations of one day stepping into the Batsuit.
“Of course. It would be an honor always,” Gyllenhaal recently told Screen Rant when asked if he’s still interested. “Those types of things and those roles are classics.”
The Road House star went on to explain his admiration for characters he considers “classics,” and how he looks up to the actors who have played them over the years.
“Speaking of playing roles that other incredible actors have played in the past, to me actually roles that other incredible actors have played in the past, which, to me, actually, when I think about it,...

Jake Gyllenhaal was a serious contender to play Bruce Wayne in Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight” trilogy, but it appears losing the role to Christian Bale never impacted Gyllenhaal’s desire to play Batman on the big screen. Making the press rounds in support of his new Prime Video action movie “Road House,” Gyllenhaal was asked by Screen Rant if he was still interested in playing Batman.
“Oh, man. That’s a classic [role]. It’s an honor,” Gyllenhaal answered. “Speaking of playing roles that other incredible actors have played in the past … When I think about it, I’m going to play Iago in ‘Othello’ with Denzel Washington, and I think about like the history of actors that have played that role throughout time, and I’m intimidated by that. When it is iconic pairings we are talking about there are very few that are as legendary as Batman and the Batmobile. This dynamic duo is more than just a team. While many might initially think of Robin as Batman’s right-hand man, it’s the sleek, powerful Batmobile that truly completes the Caped Crusader’s arsenal. Together, they navigate every curveball thrown their way in style.
And although Robert Pattison’s Batmobile is amazing in its own right, a new concept art of the Batmobile has convinced fans to start a petition. They want to change the current Batmobile into this new and improved model designed by Frédéric Le Sciellour on Behance.

Take down the Bat-signal for now, Bat-fans. Because Matt Reeves’ follow-up to The Batman has been, erm… Bat-delayed? For a while now, the sequel has been expected to hit our screens in late 2025 – bringing Robert Pattinson back in the cowl as Bruce Wayne, continuing his more detective-focused take on the Dark Knight. But thanks to a reshuffle at Warner Bros, The Batman Part II officially has a new date – and it’s moved back by a whole year.
Per the new schedule, The Batman Part II is now expected to hit cinemas on 2 October 2026 – meaning the sequel will finally arrive four-and-a-half years after the first film. In the meantime, fans can content themselves with the arrival of tie-in Max series The Penguin, bringing the return of Colin Farrell’s gangster as he attempts to consolidate power in Gotham. That show is due to arrive on screens later in 2024 – sure to...

In the 2022 film, the British star faced off against Carmine Falcone—a cunning crime boss who runs his operations with an iron fist in Gotham City.
Falcone doesn’t have flashy costumes like other Batman villains, but he’s still a big part of Bruce Wayne’s story. Some also say that the villain might have always known that Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne is secretly The Batman.
