Bill Burr: Live at Red Rocks (2022)
I couldn't stop...
This very well may have been Bill Burr's best special yet. I literally couldn't stop laughing. He was relatable and honest and fearless and that is what makes him such a fantastic comedian.
Toy Story 4 (2019)
Unnecessary
They should have just stopped at the 3rd movie. Making this was like trying to tie up loose ends that nobody had any questions about. And frankly, I could not care less about this little girl they all belong to now. If anything she is the villain in this story.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Far better than anticipated.
The Matrix was one of my favorite movies growing up. I, like you, was a little disappointed with the sequels that followed (though probably less critical).
This movie has been in development for, like, 10 years, and I think it shows. How do you resurrect something that ended so poinently? But then you have to remember the ending, where the maker and the oricle talk about the next version if the matrix. Well folks, they gave it to us. You can be mad.if you want that cast members are different or whatever, but then You miss the point. This film is merely a call back to one of the greatest franchises of all time, and gives Trinity the credit she fully deserves.
Get Hard (2015)
Long overdue
Generally speaking I don't really like Kevin Hart, much. I think I'm starting to realize I don't like his stand up, his movies are usually pretty good. I heard a lot of crap about this movie, but I found it to be very entertaining and funny.
8-Bit Christmas (2021)
A modern(ish) Christmas Story
This was a very enjoyable Christmas movie with a hint of classic Christmas Movie tropes that did not feel forced or over blown. I was looking forward to it from the moment I saw the trailer and I really did enjoy it.
Home Sweet Home Alone (2021)
Stop trying to compare it to the originals.
This was actually a surprisingly cute movie. They managed to modernize it whole keeping the spirit of the originals. They did a great job trying to make.it unique and original. Definitely worth the watch.
Nightbooks (2021)
Great way to get the kids interested.
If you like horror, and have kids, and want them to like horror, this is a great starter film. My 5 and 8 years olds were clinging to me for dear life by the end.
The Hunt (2020)
Wow
What a phenomenal analogy for our political landscape.
Nine Perfect Strangers (2021)
Why even bother?
I gave this 3 stars, because that's how many episodes before they threw the source material out the window.
I try really hard to separate adaptations from their source material, because it so rarely ever captures the story in the same way, but I had high hopes for this. They completely ruined Ben, Jessica, and Carmel's characters. ESPECIALLY Carmel. They took this sweet mom character and made.her a raging lunatic.
Ben and Jessica were also utterly ruined. They were probably my favorite in the book and they were so nonessential to the story in the show I don't even know why they bothered.
Frankly, that's how I feel about the show as a whole. When you change THAT MUCH, why even bother making an adaptation at all? Just a sad grab for plot twists and clever writing that just fell short.
Yes Day (2021)
It's a FAMILY MOVIE!
I'm seeing a lot of hate from people who watched it without kids. YOU'RE NOT THE DEMOGRAPHIC! Just for that reason you should keep your thoughts and rating to yourself.
I watched this with my wife and 4 kids and we all really enjoyed it. There was something for everyone to relate to and everyone liked it, from my 2 year old to my 10 year old. While the plot may seem a little predictable from watching hundreds of films like this growing up, it's new for the kids. We all laughed and I may have even shed a test or two.
If you are watching this with your kids, you'll love it. If you don't have kids, or they're grown, don't bother.
Venom (2018)
Tries too hard.
This movie was unnecessary, and frankly a bit dumb. It does an awful job following the source material and neglects the Spider-Man relation entirely. It doesn't even take place on the right city!
Wedding Crashers (2005)
Dude...
This was an instant classic, for me. I used to watch it several times a week.
Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (2020)
Unbelievably dull.
This did not capture my interest in any way, and it was far too long...
Incredibles 2 (2018)
Better than it's predecessor.
Disagree, I don't care. As someone who was a stay at home dad for 5 years I thought this was hilarious. Watching momma go make the bacon and seeing a lot of other heroes was delightful.
Noelle (2019)
People can be so close minded.
Reading these reviews and seeing so many people upset that a woman takes the mantle as Santa is so silly. "Santa isn't a woman!" Uh, Santa isn't real...
This is a truly fun, light-hearted, FAMILY Christmas movie. It brought 4/6 of this household to tears. You SHOULD NOT be disappointed.
Spies in Disguise (2019)
Did NOT expect that.
When I saw the trailer, I thought it was a really dumb looking movie. I loved it. I laughed, I cried, and I got got introspective.
Some may think that an underlying message of peaceful resolution and alternatives to violence is silly, but I am for it, 100%.
Fred Armisen: Standup For Drummers (2018)
Who thought this was a good idea?
I'm a drummer, and thought, "oh, that's interesting." I didn't so much as chuckle through this thing. He's all set up and one liners with absolutely no punchline what so ever. Then takes us on a history lesson behind all the drum kits he's accumulated with all the money he made not being funny everywhere else.
I think I will avoid things with Fred Armisen from now on. He ruins everything he touches.
