Atomic Blonde (2017)
It's a double pleasure to decieve the deciever...!!!
The storyline is a bit hard to follow, purposely, which is the biggest negative & unsure who is a good guy or bad guy or something in between, or both, or neither. The mystery is supposed to build intrigue but it also builds confusion too...
The highlights are the fighting scenes that show just how tough Theron really is. Watch the Extra Features to learn all the training she put in to get in shape to kick butt. There is one long fight scene that spills into the stairway that will blow your mind...
The ending is a pretty good twist, which you may or may not suspect, since there is such big confusion about agents' loyalties. The director also leaves open the door for a sequel which I believe Theron has signed on for...
Charlize Theron is a commanding force striking in both beauty and ferocity. Certainly could see her as a lead actress in a Bond or Bourne like franchise. Not only a great lead, but at the same time a tragic character who rises from the ashes to fight the final battle AND get the last word....
Rest of the characters too did pretty good job to elevate the movie & it takes time to settle down for the show down making worth for the time taken...
The cinematography is top notch & even crispy took the 1989 setting too seriously though...
The picture quality is plain cold to add to the dreadful feeling of the plot & there by succeeded...
Many of these classic songs are reimagined but perfectly inserted into a narrative that unfolds in pace with the script.... Every transition is set to sound and style...
Overall a good action movie to watchout with theron outnumbered every characters making a one man show you can't pull of eyes of her...Hope there will be a sequel. Cheers!!!
Watcher (2022)
Worth giving it a shot...!!!
Watcher builds slowly, spending plenty of time emphasizing the main character's isolation and loneliness. Each passing moment of this slow burn the paranoia of being watched...
The last 20 minutes of the movie are intense and pay off nicely, though, and make it worth hanging around until the end...
This situation can and does happen to everyone, no matter their gender, but this movie shows how unconscious sexism influences and enforces this dynamic between men and women...
The Spider(Burn Gorman), is menacing the city, he brutkills his female victims. While there are some jump scares instances of extreme violence and murder, the horror here is mostly psychological as an atmosphere of threat and paranoia builds up...
Maika Monroe did a fabulous job of a bored wife in a foreign city,One could easily just feel her growing fear...
Francis(Karl gusman) reacts to the situation is logical and "rational" but it also frustrating He never took her seriously and instead blames it on her mental state or loneliness...
The film also looks really good. Visually it's(Benjamin kirk) aesthetically pleasing. Color grading, cinematography, and the tones used were great with the ample support of editor(Micheal block)
Overall Honestly one of the best thriller movies to be watched exactly one could crave for with No fancy music, action, or stunts are needed, just great writing and directing. It's just so realistic...
Zavod (2018)
May not be an eye-opener but promising...!!!
"The Factory" is set in a soon-to-be-shuttered factory where the workers violently seize the means of production and kidnap their boss...
A cracking actioner of it's kind that deals and double crosses, defections and late-in-the-game revelations...Director Bykov keeps the tension chiefly psychological until the third act, when he relieves said tension with some exceptionally well-choreographed gunplay...
The crew is a typically mixed bag of different types - an old-timer, a sweet young kid, a potty-mouthed show-off person and so on - who live paycheck to paycheck. Not that they've had one of those for a couple of months, but as is the way in Russia, everyone still shows up and expects they'll get compensated eventually since that's the way it's always been, going back to the days of state-owned means of production...
As the day turns to night, a siege at the factory sets in, elevated by the arrival of a squad of local cops...One by one, men within each unit either turn on their companions or make fatal mistakes and the numbers on both sides continues to tick down...
Technically, this is in every respect a well-oiled factory flick, with Vladimir Ushakov's dramatic, dark-pale cinematography meshing seamlessly with the crisp use of sound and unshowy but effective production and costume design. Altogether, the package straight down to the budget-maximizing use of just a handful of locations and symbolic of light...
if anyone wants to understand why Russian politics are where they are, this is a very good fiction piece. And it is also very true of most do the rest of the world...
Apart from some perplexing plot twists that enhance the tension of the narrative, the story is rather straightforward
But this feels rather simplistic - especially when the setting is used as the backdrop for a series of almost epic dialogues on the war between good and evil, which don't do justice to the realism of the concept. Bykov doesn't really show any innovation in the narrative & he doesn't add anything new to a subject...
Overall The Factory is more engaging: during the moments of pure action and when we sense the hourglass is running out of sand, the anxiety is palpable. For a broader audience...
Star (2024)
Universe always falls in love with stubborn heart...!!!
"Star" isn't just a movie; it's an exploration of ambition, identity, and the blurred lines between reality and performance...
Remember the first scene of the movie where young kalai gets ready for fancy dress competition and the Barathiyar Meesai got lost ..the father said... through your acting you must make the audience forget about the mustache... that when you accomplish as a performer ...
And the same dialogue came is frozen scene shot at the hospital scene ending when director says cut... the entire hospital scene kalai(kavin) doesn't have scar on his face... the entire hospital scene is a movie shoot. The director made us forget his scar and focus on his acting...Indeed a director's touch & a typical movie buff drop test to watchout...Kudos to director Elan...
Kavin was more interested in playing a complex and vulnerable character. The character's journey is structured in a way that, somewhere the whole story feels like a beta Vaaranam Aayiram. The vulnerable parts of the character were played very convincingly by him...
He doesn't like job but awarded employee of the year is an no sense idea from the creator...
Preity Mukhudhan, as the love interest of Kalai, was really fluent in her performance...
When it comes to Aaditi Pohankar, the quirky motivational character of Surabhi is a little too loud. The kind of comfort the movie wants the hero to feel when he is with Surabhi is not entirely there...
Lal, as the supportive father, is fine in terms of the way performs the emotions. But the dialect was a bit problematic. Geetha Kailasam was also equally fine as the typical eccentric mother of the hero...
Also first half is somewhat slow-paced seems to be lagging while the post accident scenes is where the movie shifts the gear...
The messaging is not preachy and yet make a statement as the film glides through with minor hitches that can be ignored...
Cinematography by Ezhil Arasu is neat. Yuvan Shankar Raja's background score is effective while his fans will be disappointed with his template songs...
Overall Star a passable drama with forgivable flaws & partly engaging flick that holds you firmly on the later half...
Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (2024)
350 crores khallas...!!!
This action thriller consists very nicely placed and paced action sequences with very cool amount of Stylish man to man combat sequences which thrills as a viewer...
The knife sequences , the comical punches , the typical akshay's style , the near perfect VFX , Almost impressive screenplay, tidy narration works out partly...
Prithviraj Actually puts audience focus and dives into attention in the seriousness of the stuff going on....
The expression the dialogue delivery , the menacing behaviour all restores the faith...
As usual Tiger Shroff does a decent acting while his stunts are wide appreciated in Bollywood...
Songs are just unbearable and I hate this thing about the makers that puttung a filthy song in between is a compulsion of a movie .......
It just increases the run time and drops viewers's expectations!
Manushi Chillar and cringy Alaya F. They were a big letdown whenever they showed up...
Sonakshi part has been the most comical thing somebody has ever come acorss with. She was more a human password for something crucial & works out as mere cheap thrills...
The protagonists bumping off baddies in the first few mins of a mission without so much as a scratch on their bodies. A scene where Akki is shown riding with 2 horses with 3 cars full of terrorists shooting at him.. he's a sitting duck waiting to be hit...Bollywood wake up your senses!!!
The ending along some of the patriotic dialogues seem very cliched... We have heard these a million times before .. some innovation needed from the dialogue writers!!!
The movie is full of bomb blasts, vehicle blasts & all sort of blasts from its very start to the end . Huge budget of approx 300cr spent on scale but sadly they forgot to work on a good storyline...
Editing is another department that has failed , the film really needed huge cuts makes film not to be recommended in the cinema halls...
The Strangers: Chapter 1 (2024)
Fate lies on CHAPTER-2...!!!
The Strangers: Part 1" ultimately falls short of being a great movie to watch and just being entertaining to watch due to the unbelievable and irrational behavior of its characters. It's hard to believe the real story, which the film claims to be based on, unfolded in such an absurd manner. It may just be loosely based have not researched it yet...
The protagonist then leaves his girlfriend alone in the cabin to go get food and his rescue inhaler on a motorcycle that just happens to be parked at the cabin. In a horror scenario, this is one of the most predictable and foolish mistakes one can make instead he could have taken her with him...
All remakes, reboots, and spinoffs are pointless to some degree, but director Renny Harlin's The Strangers Chapter 1 (the other two instalments in this trilogy are unfortunately already filmed and set to release later this year) is a special level of uninspired lazy, unbearably boring...
It is a film that wants us to forget, wants us to settle for the barest minimum, wants us to watch an incomplete, half-baked attempt at a film that offers no satisfaction or and then to clap when the 'to be continued' title card hits.
Well we have some news for you Renny, that we aren't watching it anymore...
Varshangalkku Shesham (2024)
There's a right time for everything...!!!
Directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan, known for his ability to weave heartfelt narratives, the film marks a significant entry in contemporary cinema that captures the essence of human emotions with finesse...Also the reference of Victory Hugo(French writer) Babukka(Composer) Prem Nazir Sathyan master Adoor Bhasi & Joshiy shows how passionate Srinivasan been to art of Film-making...
Dhyan Sreenivasan and Pranav Mohanlal deliver compelling performances, bringing depth to their characters with a remarkable blend of subtlety and strength. The chemistry between the lead actors adds a rich layer of authenticity to the storytelling, making every moment on screen feel genuine and impactful...Nivin rocked each and every scene with the limited screen time...
The flick explores how Cinema making is a big struggle with various factors all coming right at the right time and this movie depicts the same, Careers are made and destroyed in this field overnight, What remains is only the handwork and struggle to deliver a hit every single time...
The musical score of the film is another highlight, with compositions that beautifully complement the narrative's emotional landscape. The song "Nyabagam," in particular, stands out likely to resonate with audiences long after they leave the theater, thanks to its catchy melody and meaningful lyrics...
Overall, "Varshangalk Shesham" is a beautifully crafted film that offers both entertainment and emotional resonance. Vineeth Sreenivasan's direction ensures that every element, from performance to music, works in harmony to create a memorable cinematic experience. This is a film that not only entertains but also lingers in the heart and mind, proving once again the power of well-told stories... Especially meant for Vineeth Srinivasan fanbase...
American Hustle (2013)
Wrong pockets,at the wrong time...!!!
These sort of movies are rare, but when they do pop up, they can be very entertaining that takes you on a journey & drops you off wanting more!!!
The plot is complicated and shows the characters interacting on many different emotional and psychological levels. It is all about mental growth and change for all involved...Critics find the movie too long but it's ain't for avtypical movie lovers...
The character Irving Rosenfeld acted by Christian Bale is pure NY genius. His accent and his look is over the top 70s does it effortlessly...
Jennifer Lawrence particularly stands out, adorably attractive making a meal of the part and stealing every scene she is in & indeed a work of a genius...
Jeremy renner too get his best of career performance & Amy Adams one can't pull of eyes of her indeed while rest of the characters do elevate the movie with their phenomenal performance...
Based on true events from the 1970's Abscam case, this is an ingenious con movie and Russell's best film to date. This is telling a film story at it's best. The entire production is superbly crafted. The narrative immerses the viewer inside the con. The soundtrack is terrific...At times the script was also quite humorous which was a great benefit to film...
The plot was essentially about criminals trying to outsmart everyone. So if you liked Wolf of Wall Street, you will also love this movie...
Gerald's Game (2017)
What is a woman!!!Anyway...!!!
Director Flanagan never ceases to amaze us with his literary genius and he is especially a true master of direction when it comes to horror and thriller genres...Take a bow to him!!!
A truly artistic masterpiece that's thought provoking when it comes to expressing the haunting state of mental confusion, dementia and the various stages of human emotions on the face of imminent end and solitude like frenzy, denial, acceptance of morbid fate, especially when death comes knocking on the door. The film also explores the devastating effects of the mind of a child caused by the trauma as a result of unhealthy family incident, that eventually pervades into one's adult life, manifesting as a living curse and destroying every aspect of life and also how much sacrifice it takes to ultimately get one's life track back to normal mode...
When told through the mind's eye of Stephen King it becomes downright chilling, horrific, and even a otherworldly hallucinations...The flick contains elements of subject matter that are tough subjects to deal with, and delivers the barest of hints as to what impact certain events in one's childhood can have on the entire remainder of one's life...
If anybody ever needed proof that Carla Gugino is a fine actress, then this film provides that in spades. Considering she spends the majority of the film chained to the bed and still outshines everyone else says it all really a daunting task to do & she does it effortlessly...
Bruce Greenwood is great as the husband whose dark perversion starts it all off...His twisted words of psychological disturbance to the lead character is a game changer...
Overall a Great story telling ,love the acting too and also every detail including that stray dog which feels metaphorically in the sense that all our problems have a time limit and we have to solve them before they attack or destroy us...One of the strongest recommendation for every movie buff who crave for more movies of this kind...
Pahanhautoja (2022)
A fresh take on a creepy horror folk tale...!!!
A movie that hopes to be scared but It's not so much about the creepy monster but about a family and their issues. It's weird and gross but also really hard to stop watching...
Epic battle as child realizes false self is going to hurt people she loves in defending her from pain - and take control of her life ...one may pin down what is happening but not be able to pin down what happens next...
The movie portrays how the innocent good side gets replaced with fully insane evil version of the child due to ignorance of parents trying to understand them. Preparing them to compete their counterparts for personal show off of parents due to unhealthy competitive society and influence of modern social media addiction to be famous...
An Elements of extreme body horror and some good jump shocks add to an aura of strangeness which will leave you shell-shocked...The family drama might seem flat but its actually insane and silently corrosive. The lengths these characters go to believe their stage play of a life...
Solalinna is wondrous; a highly graceful screen presence, she manages to balance Tinja's anxieties and striving for approval with a steely sensibility, and really excels at every given frame...
The design of Alli and her disturbing shedding and morphing was incredible and seeing the aftermath of the violence was chilling enough without drawn-out sequences of brutality making us love the creature & has been rightful in every way being an individual point of view...
Overall Hatching becomes a relevant, thought provoking nightmare that's ain't intense but not of cheap thrills either...A must see flick that's impressive with its plot & the way they treated the screenplay and it's pacing...
The VVitch: A New-England Folktale (2015)
An original movie to remind us of original sin...!!!
The"WITCH" takes you on an intense journey with a 17th century family and their struggles with nature, faith, and the unknown supernatural power...This is less of a horror film and more about excellent filmmaking...
The dialogue is perfectly matching the way a Puritan family in the 1600's would speak, and the cinematic adaptation of the New-England folklore witchcraft stories is detailed enough to scare the viewer even from the opening scenes. The costumes and the scenery is one exactly matching the period of time the film is settled in...
The casting is magnificent and their performances are the main reason the film is creating this melancholic, yet terrifying scenario especially Anya Taylor-Joy is capturing on her face every emotion during every scene, and just by focusing on her face, one can vividly see her character's terror becoming her source of power, as she is embracing who she really is...
The father, played by Ralf Ineson, has an amazing gravely voice that has all the character demands.
Kate Dickie plays the mother brilliantly, her pain and suffering is palpable and affects all of them.
The Slow paced story takes it easy and allows the audience to actually live the situation in their imagination and after some time things start to get messy and dark & Religious people might not like the ending...
The point of view is cleverly infused with the fear of the dark woods, the onset of children's puberty, the suspicion of witchcraft and evil increases with each mounting misfortune & few more scares makes even more worth while watched on big screen at times...
Overall A thought provoking films that may not adhere to the standard of its genre, but makes u tense with some startling moments & one can't anticipate any truly suspenseful moments that will leave you speechless...
The Strangers (2008)
IT'S SERIOUSLY SO BAD...!!!
The killers aren't menacing, the victims are stupid, and the suspense drags on forever without any satisfaction...Tagline of based on true events is utterly senseless...
Too many cliche moments just for convenience. Lazy writing...
The story was too simple but the execution and environment building was done perfectly due to which the story felt intense, the screenplay was uneven as the movie had major pacing issues, the direction was good as the director made a boring story intense and the performances were decent, not strong.
The thriller and horror elements were nicely embedded but the suspense element felt weak as nothing is revealed at the end except a line which explains some questions...
The masked strangers lacked motivation. Never was explained why they intruded in the house and did what they did to the innocent couple. Were they sadists???The Strangers just ends up being another frustrating, depressing horror film with an illogical, anticlimactic ending...
Liv Tyler casting was just a decent thing the director all could do so...
Gangs of Godavari (2024)
Karma is ain't boomerang for Vishwak sen...!!!
Gangs of Godavari turns out to be a routine mass action film...Though Krishna Chaitanya's predictable storyline and script is saved by some good performance & flawless screenplay...
The movie's narrative skillfully intertwines elements of love, revenge, and political intrigue against the scenic backdrop of Godavari...
Vishwak Sen, known as Mass Ka Das, impresses with his mass mannerisms and impactful performances...While Neha Shetty and Anjali also leave a mark with their respective roles, despite limited screen time...
Director Krishna Chaitanya, known for his association with Trivikram, showcases his directorial prowess, infusing the film with engaging dialogues and well-paced storytelling. However, the screenplay could have been tighter to enhance the overall impact...
'Gangs Of Godavari' is a movie that flows in a certain set pattern. The hero starts from zero, reaches the top, faces downfall and decides to give a strong ending to his story... Especially the way director treated the climax portion is impressive...
Yuvan Shankar Raja's background score adds depth to the storytelling, complementing the raw and rustic feel of the movie...While the songs doesn't workout upto the level...
Despite minor flaws, "Gangs of Godavari" offers a gripping cinematic experience, with its unique narrative and strong performances. With its blend of action, drama, and romance, the film is a worthwhile watch for audiences craving an entertaining movie experience...
Kaibutsu no kikori (2023)
A Quiet promising addition to thriller genre...!!!
"LUMBERJACK THE MONSTER" is a new Netflix movie from iconic Japanese director Takashi Miike. The original title is Kaibutsu no kikori which is the title of the book it's based on. It's a horror-thriller and the movie is from Japan, but the character-driven plot gives it a South Korean vibe...
This one even has a serial killer mystery plot makes sense & has plenty to cover during its runtime...
There is a serial killer and obviously, a serial killer is not a "guy good". However, there is actually a solid reason for his murder spree...
The movie's boldest idea is that psychopathy could be a desirable trait...
Miike, known for his intense and often shocking storytelling, crafts a narrative that is both horrifying and deeply engaging. The film kicks off with a ferocious intensity, immediately throwing viewers into Ninomiya's world of cold-blooded ambition and relentless pursuit. Kamenashi delivers a compelling performance, capturing the lawyer's transformation from a cold-hearted professional to a man consumed by vengeance. His portrayal is chilling, particularly in scenes where his character's obsession reaches a fever pitch...
The cinematography by Nobuyasu Kita paints a stark picture of Tokyo's underbelly, filled with shadows and lurking dangers. The editing by Naoichiro Sagara ensures that the tension remains high throughout, with quick cuts that leave the audience barely a moment to breathe. This relentless pace is both a strength and a potential drawback, as it sometimes sacrifices character development for sheer adrenaline...
Despite its many strengths, " Lumberjack the Monster" does have its flaws. The relentless focus on violence and gore can feel overwhelming at times, potentially alienating viewers who are not fans of extreme horror. Additionally, while the film's pace keeps the adrenaline high, it sometimes glosses over deeper character development. Ninomiya's transformation is well-acted but could benefit from more nuanced exploration, particularly in his interactions with other characters...
Overall " Lumberjack the Monster" is a gripping addition to Takashi Miike's filmography, offering a brutal and unflinching look at the darker sides of human nature. It's a film that will undoubtedly appeal to fans of extreme horror and psychological thrillers. However, its intense focus on violence and a somewhat shallow character arc may limit its appeal to a broader audience. Despite these shortcomings, the film's high-octane energy and compelling lead performance make it a memorable cinematic experience...
Arthur the King (2024)
Suffering is a skill...!!!
"Arthur : The king" is a thearteratical master piece with emotions, action, comedy, and some and some dangerous and breathe taking actions sequence balanced with fine elements of typical adventure flick does have too...
The film highlights not only the loyalty and resilience of dogs but also their remarkable intelligence. It's an inspiring tale that underscores how these incredible animals can profoundly impact our lives...
Mark Wahlberg does it again!!! As always loved his performance...The continuous dialogue he delivers in movies is so amazing to see and hear...
He brings together a team to win the title of the world adventure racing in what could be his last attempt following multiple attempts...
It has them running through jungles, climb Hills, cycling, kayaking & So on indeed a Touching climax...
"One for All and All for One"
"Do you go with your heart or your mind? ..the decision is all yours"
"Racer's race"
& Many more dialogue keeps you intact with its study pace...
These people who actually do this sport are iron men and women. That being said this is a story of not just one man's redemption but a team that at one point could of given up. They fought there way with each other and other teams and along the way gained a 5th member of their team. The unexpected hero wasn't the 3 men and 1 lady that finished second, it was the dog...
Overall A Lovely heartwarming movie would definitely recommended...
Jam (2023)
Hate the Sin, not the Sinner...!!!
Jason Yu's feature directorial debut is funny, scary, and delightfully cutting...
Told in three increasingly wild chapters, the film's script, piles on a few obvious elements & translates cleverly to the screen with closed expectation...
Mostly set in the film's apartment, which undergoes its own changes over the course of the feature, reveals even more natty twists and smart scripting, nothing to snooze at here...
Director/writer Jason Yu's screenplay puts more distance between us and its heroine, but the movie still holds our attention, As cinematographer Kim Tae-soo frequently stays around its two main characters in their supposedly domestic environment, a sense of isolation around them feels more palpable along the story...
The movie depends a lot on its two lead performers, who show considerable commitment as their respective characters swirl around each other from one end to the other. While Jung Yu-mi does a good job of embodying her character's gradual emotional disturbance along the story, Lee Sun-kyun steadily functions as her solid counterpart throughout the film...They provide a genuine connection between their characters and the viewer...
To the film's credit, though, there is an underlying tension and mystery throughout Keeping your interest perplexed whether it's A ghost? Demonic possession? He's just a psychopath?...
Being Director's debut film , he clearly knows how to engage and entertain us, and it will be interesting to watch whatever will come next from him in the future...
Overall "Sleep" is a close, claustrophobic gem, instantly immersive and constantly evolving...indeed a must watch psychological horror thriller that ain't made with cheap thrills & one might cherish who adore an open ending...
What You Wish For (2023)
Unsettling...!!!
"What You Wish For" is a dish you bite into thinking it's one temperature but realize after chewing it over that its true heat breaks late...
A movie about a man's lies getting him deeper and deeper into trouble...A level of danger is inherent in what's taking place, and the stakes only get higher as the night progresses making your night disturbing...
Movies that will shake up and give you something new to digest. "What You Wish For" may have some twists you can smell coming from a few paces away, keeps you hungry to discover what happens in the final course...
Nick Stahl shines as Ryan from the very first moment he is on screen, all the way to the very end. Viewers go on quite the journey with him, and while he is a bit mysterious at first, it becomes rather easy to connect with him and root for him to make it safely through this experience...
Thankfully, "What You Wish For" does not force you to wait too long for this to happen...The first act is going to feel predictable, but the movie keeps enough twists and turns hidden for the third act, have no fear & perhaps the climax is indeed a biggest strength for the movie...
Some scenes are a little difficult to watch, but "What You Wish For" never gets too gory, but there is an uneasy feeling that many will get during certain scenes...
Overall "What You Wish For" works extremely well as an entertaining and suspenseful thriller. It is dark, yet funny at times, and provides a social commentary that will resonate with many in different ways...
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)
Rage fuelled by grief...!!!
A prequel to the last Mad Max release, this action-thriller is an amazing conceptualization and execution of a dystopian society in the Australian wastelands where habitats of clean water and food produce are almost non-existing and thus the greatest necessity and cause of cruel feuds between gangs and people...
Although the film is about 20 min too long, in fact, the longest of the entire 5 film franchise and not as epic as its predecessors, there is enough here to put it ahead of the action movie pack...
The stunts are breathtaking. The action set pieces are original and intense. Topped off with the vast cinematography and signature frame rate, this high-octane ride will keep your eyes glued to the screen...They patched in original cast from Fury Road rather than giving a few snap shots and scenes from the original
Chris Hemsworth as warlord Dementus, the head of a biker horde, has taken acting to an altogether different level. He has delivered much more than it could have been on the paper...
Be it anger, sarcasm, or comic timing, he is simply bang on...
Anya Taylor-Joy as Furiosa is interesting to watch as a silent and smart kid turned into an intelligent, gallant and ruthless warrior with mammoth inner strength...Though her character is designed well her body mannerism is ain't suitable for the titular role where one could witness post 2nd half...
The story, while a bit slow at times, is captivating and unfolds in a way that is both unexpected and satisfying. The way creativity of the filmmakers that they were able to craft a narrative that feels fresh and exciting while still honoring the legacy of the Mad Max universe...
George Miller's (Director) storyline is good, and the screenplay is well projected from the start to finish. Editing could have been little crisp and could have shortened the movie by 20 mins...Infact the flick holds the highest runtime among its universe...
The cinematography by Simon Duggan is spectacular, creating a vivid, post-apocalyptic world that feels both expansive and claustrophobic...
On screen the antagonist has a much better character arc than the main character and how she deals with him at the end makes barely any sense if she isn't trying to become like him...
The 2015 movie still stands out for its amazing use of real stunts and it seems like CGI had somehow gotten worse...
The production chose to add more CGI rather than increase the use of practical, real vehicles and stunts, the film loses the wow factor that made it's predecessor such a revelation; it appears that real vehicles were built for this movie, but largely as a template to build special effects on top of, which for the most part don't convince...
Overall it's a good movie, solid entry to the Mad Max universe with some great expansion of the world we didn't get to see in Fury Road. It's not a non-stop action scene like Fury Road either, It's slower and takes more time to tell a story about a character in this universe. Not sure why Furiosa is supposed to be so important, she seems like another savage killer from the wasteland, but it was interesting none the less...
The First Omen (2024)
A well deserved addition to the franchise...!!!
"The First Omen" is the sixth feature in the franchise and serves as a prequel to the original 1976 movie starring Gregory Peck...
In several ways it resembles other religious horror films with a generally predictable storyline...
Director Stevenson takes her time unpacking the story and setting up what's to come. She patiently defines her characters and their places, allowing things to slowly simmer before ramping up to a scalding boil. Yet even in the earliest scenes, Stevenson develops and maintains a looming sense of evil that steadily intensifies, leading up to utterly terrifying final act that makes you disturbed...
Nell Tiger Free is a young actress who has had a few roles in her career, but here she gives a great performance as this woman trying to figure out what is going on at this church and orphanage...
She pulls off the character with vivid colors & uses all her acting ability to bring this character to life. The various physical things she does are amazing. In one particular scene, it looks like she is being possessed over by something makes your night out haunting...
The movie legitimately had a few jumpscares and dark imagery that puts it as one of the best horror films this year so far...
The flick fearlessly turns a critical eye towards the Catholic Church. Specifically, the main conspiracy of birthing a child by the Devil's hand serves as a fitting metaphor for rampant sexual abuse in organized religion...
Cinematographer Aaron Morton evokes a '70s style carefully framing & reluctant towards cheap jump scares. Letting the audience take in and be unnerved by uncomfortable imagery...
Overall "The First Omen" manages to serve as a well made prequel as well as an unsettling and creepy horror film in its own right...
Yuva (2024)
Just for Namesake...!!!
"Yuva" is a mediocre commercial film, only worth watching for its action scenes which is intended for just to build up the image of Yuvaraj...
The love story followed predictable patterns with Sapthami gowda has been underplayed lacking the depth & there by performance falling short of expectations...
The movie failed to capture the authenticity of middle-class life, Unnecessary fight scenes and forced Mangalorean slang further detracted from the overall experience...While the college principal played by Deshpande having a sip with yuva seems to be immature carries nonsense...
Yuva Rajkumar showed promise in fight sequences and dance numbers, it wasn't enough to save the movie & his "Single expression" throughout the movie seems irritating...
Sudharani and Hitha were completely expressionless While why the hell on earth was the absolute need for the father to spend so lavishly for his daughter's wedding when he was drowning in debts?? And gifting Audi??
Santhosh Anandram directorial sense has completely lost it this time He should focus on scripts rather than launching star kids...
A Simple Favor (2018)
Frozen gin Frozen glass & Generous twists...!!!
There are some movies which starts off in a low note and it builds up high as the story progresses and this one falls in that category...
The investigation part about the movie has its charm that holds the thrilling point which makes you hooked to the story...
This movie is based on a true story of two friends who meet each other accidentally but their friendship costs them a lot...
It gently reminds me of digital marketing frauds how people are faking it to get some extra money from the government and how risky that turns out to be when one of the friends claims it for her own death and in reality, she is alive...
One could see many twists and turns and will be glued to it until the end...
One cannot make a sure statement about anyone's character. Every person in the movie is brilliant. It was really good to watch these two brilliant actresses Anna Kendrick & come together and make this movie a neat thriller out of nowhere hell of an entertainment...
Emily(Blake lively) looked so beautiful and dangerous Where as Stephanie (Anna Kendrick) was as usual cute and super smart...
Be careful of who you trust in a relationship...As we all have our secrets & there by "DO EVERYTHING BY YOURSELF" is all the morality if the flick...
The film flirts with taboo sex, drugs and violence...Likewise, it has some fun with playing on gender conventions, but never really explores or subverts them in any great depth...
Overall, "A Simple Favor" is an entertaining watch with strong performances and a stylish aesthetic & A strong recommendation for those who crave for good movies...
Krishnamma (2024)
Neither Boring nor Roaring...!!!
This movie looks like True Incident which happened on Dec 27, 2007 in Vijayawada (Ayesha Meera's Case)... Way more better than the movies which are coming with high budget with having better story line than those big ones...
Even though the story is same old but the narration of the story, characteristics of the Hero and his friends are good. Not boring and unnecessary songs and no useless comedy. The entire story goes in one wavelength...
SatyaDev making a good impression with every Movie and looked Promising, No Overdoers,No Hype,Indeed a promising star along with SUHAS making waves in Tollywood...
Rest of the characters too did their work perfect to elevate the movie at a brisk pace...
The chemistry among the lead trio adds a layer of realism to the narrative, emphasizing the film's core theme of friendship & loyalty...
The film's emotional depth is commendable, although it suffers from a slow first half. The romantic subplot feels unnecessary and detracts from the main storyline. However, the director's debut is promising, showcasing a competent handling of traditional revenge drama with fresh emotional beats...
Cinematography is adequate. While Kaala Bhairava's songs lack punch, his background score is ineffective. Editing needs to be sharper...
Krishnamma primarily explores corrupt police practices, where officers falsely frame innocent people to protect those in power. It also touches on the theme of ordinary individuals seeking vengeance against those who have inflicted severe harm on their lives...
Overall though the plot is repeatative The new director adopts a realistic style, avoiding conventional commercial elements, making it a one time watchable flick...
Prasanna Vadanam (2024)
It's SUHAS show all the way...!!!
Suhas has found a Midas touch especially his script selection is highly appreciable...No doubt he his getting too strong day by day striking gold at the box-office & he has created his own identity indeed while his producers are on cloud nine...
Do check his filmography and rejoice...
An engaging script till first half, later story gets an usual track...While the movie is not bad but it could have been handled in better way as audience already involved with high drama till first half , in second half it became a regular plot...
The term "Prosopagnosia" "Phonagnosia" " Statistical Satisfaction" & " Apla syndrome" depictions should be appreciated as the director is passionate enough towards his flick...
Camera by Chandrashekar & Editing of Karthik provides ample support to the flick...While Vijay Bulganin's background score is appropriate for the thriller genre, but his songs don't work...
As far as Con's are concerned The episodes involving hero and heroine
Drags on at many places...But the amount of tension kept intact till the end makes it a clear winner...
Overall "Prasanna Vadanam" is a thriller with intriguing episodes that makes a neat watch...
Atlas (2024)
Peace for the fallen(ATLAS)...!!!
To be sure, the film is not unique in raising the question of Ai or even in its mode of engagement with the question of whether it can be trusted and eventually loved...
The idea of AI potentially wiping out human populations is not new...
CGI in 'Atlas', while competent, is not new either. Holograms, intergalactic views from JLo's window and the world-building on GR-39 with its large mushrooms and torrential rain feel like things we have seen before in other films; and yet they get the job done-perhaps on a smallish budget even...
J Lo acting seems to be penchant for Oscar worthy but lands as an overdosed treatment also the bonding with Smith(Ai) is ain't convincing...Lopez has always excelled at self-promotion and dancing, but her acting often falls short & this time she is bit over- acted seems to be exaggerated most of the times that too tha fault with her side in corrupting the A.i...
The communication b/w lopez & Ai seems cringe enough as the robot disrespects acts like a bot mentioning the certain level of percentage to act accordingly...
it's easy to understand Atlas Shepherd's mistrust of AI in the beginning, and then follow her example as she places greater trust in the good AI, little by little. In some ways, the film feels like handholding millennials to a more general acceptance of the idea that AI, like other technologies before it, is a tool that can be used for good or evil...
Also Director peyton seems to be lack of screenplay that loses its way in pacing lands clueless in the midway...
The onething that makes the flick stand tall is there is no preaching or politics in this movie just nice action with some chuckles... Thank you Jennifer Lopez for making a movie for actual entertainment and not activism...
Overall the flick is not even a one time watchable & better save your golden time...
Crew (2024)
Always have a PLAN-B...!!!
The three evergreen and beautiful divas of the silver screen, Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon, performed their roles convincingly...
All three are tired of their dysfunctional life and the salary is bringing no good for them...
After being unpaid for months, the life of these women takes a rocky turn as they find themselves entangled in a smuggling investigation...
The first half is terrific. With the revelation of their chairman fleeing away to Dubai (Even his name reminds of Vijay malya), these three ladies decide to take their hard-earned money back from them. The crazy plan which is stupid from the beginning and this makes it more fun and convincing will make you roll. Writers Nidhi Mehra and Mehul Suri keep the game on with their funny punches. Bebo's Jasmine breaking into Sona kitna sona hai will make laugh instantly. Humor works out from the character's unapologetically and there is no room for serious conversation...
If you Don't Find Logic and You Won't Be disappointed !!
With all the lead characters doing some great job flawlessly...Raja Krishnan keeps the screenplay at a study pace in such a way that this plot will turnout to be a blockbuster even if it's made in Hollywood...
Overall the Terminal is open for its viewers and could be rated 6 stars for 3 women...
