Back and forth the axe swung in Tuesday’s episode of The Voice as the Top 12 were cut down to the Top 9 (presumably on our way to a victory by Team John Legend’s superlative Nathan Chester). Based on the poll that followed Monday’s recap, it looked like Tae Lewis (Team Dan + Shay), Nadège (Team Chance the Rapper), Serenity Arce (Team Chance) and L. Rodgers (Team Reba McEntire) would be singing for the Wildcard Instant Save. But was that how things actually shook out?

Monday’s episode of The Voice — and the end of Season 25’s Playoffs — served up a painful reminder that sometimes it’s not enough to be “cute as a button.” Chance the Rapper and Reba McEntire had to shrink their teams of five contestants apiece to just three each. Along the way, some promising singers were cut (although, to be honest, none that I was as sorry to see go as Anya True and Mafe last week). Which six acts were the last put through to the Lives? Read on…

There is a recent change when it comes to The Voice playoff rounds. However, when the singing reality competition show announced the change, many fans immediately disliked the idea. The problem arises with fans believing the new rule will create a disadvantage for the singers who receive what is supposed to be a reward.
Here is the new rule and why fans aren’t happy about it.
The Voice Playoff Pass For Singers Remains Controversial
The Voice has always attempted to keep things the same throughout its run, only implementing small tweaks to make the competition more exciting. However, one of the tweaks the show made back in Season 23 still has some fans unhappy. This change involved the Knockout Rounds and what is known as the Playoff Pass.

“The Voice” battles round for season 25 concluded on Tuesday night with each of the four coaches narrowing their teams of 10 down to seven. Second season coach Reba McEntire used her one and only “Playoff Pass” on L. Rodgers, sending her straight to the live shows while the remaining five battles winners and the artist she stole move on to the next round. Those six artists representing their team will next take the stage for The Knockouts beginning April 8, but first we want to know who is your favorite artist on Team Reba? Vote in the poll below.
L. went head-to-head against Tae Lewis in their battle of “We Don’t Fight Anymore.” With Reba picking Tae as the “winner,” L. was up for grabs from the other coaches. Chance the Rapper wanted to use his steal on her, but Reba stopped that by using her playoff pass to keep L.

Monday kicked off Season 25’s Battles on The Voice, and they did not disappoint. On one hand, we got a few genuinely awesome performances. On the other, we got what might qualify as the first big shocks of the season via the eliminations of one contestant who could easily go by the stage name Mr. Personality and another who — and yes, I’m ready for the hate mail — is a more electrifying rock vocalist than early frontrunner Bryan Olesen. Read on, and we’ll discuss which singers advanced to the Knockouts and whether they really should have.
