Last week, a rumor from The Cosmic Circus suggested that Peter Parker will ultimately come up against two of his most iconic villains in the new Spider-Man trilogy that's said to be in the works from Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, and we may now know how these characters will make their return.
Just in case this is accurate, here's your spoiler warning.
It's said that the plan is to have Spidey encounter the Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus again in the new movies, but that doesn't mean it'll be Norman Osborn and Otto Octavius! The site is now hinting that two other characters will assume these villainous mantles.
"I know many people are curious as to how exactly they will do Doc Ock and Green Goblin again when the time comes. I’d just like to let everyone know, the whole world was watching the final fight during No Way Home.

Sam Raimi was among the filmmakers who added to the rise and popularity of the superhero genre after Blade and X-Men with his Spider-Man trilogy with Tobey Maguire. The first two films have been considered landmarks that changed the genre, providing character depth and emotion that made the films more than just action spectacles.

Alfred Molina has donned a ton of iconic roles spread across multiple different genres that perfectly display his versatility as an actor throughout his over four-decade-long and counting career. But his most commendable performance, besides that of Doc Ock in Spider-Man‘s saga, was his minor debut role as Satipo in Steven Spielberg’s Raiders of the Lost Ark from 1981.

Even though his role was very minor with a brief screen time in the Indiana Jones movie, Molina still had to go through stuff that would be a nightmare for all the people terrified of spiders. This is because, while Tobey Maguire’s second film as the web-slinger didn’t really force him to do anything with spiders, it was actually Spielberg who made his scene an absolute nightmare to shoot.

When Marvel Studios teamed with Sony Pictures and agreed to share Spider-Man, the decision was quickly made to focus on villains the web-slinger hadn't faced on screen before.
Spider-Man: Homecoming featured Shocker and The Vulture and even set the stage for Scorpion's eventual debut by introducing Mac Gargan. Spider-Man: Far From Home shifted focus to Mysterio, only for Spider-Man: No Way Home to pit Tom Holland's Peter Parker against the baddies from previous Spider-Man movies.
The MCU hero battled Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Electro, Sandman, and The Lizard; however, as exciting as that was for fans, it seemingly closed the door on new versions of those baddies appearing on Earth-616.
Heck, Willem Dafoe's Norman Osborn even confirmed his Variant doesn't exist on that world!

Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 has many iconic scenes that have had a lasting impact. None, however, have been as timeless and memorable as the train scene. From fighting Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock on a moving train to stopping the said train and an entire train car full of people hiding Spider-Man’s identity, it is safe to say the scene left an impact. It has become ingrained in the character’s history, and there have been many attempts to recreate it.
Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man stopping a train in Spider-Man 2
Even though the entire sequence was less than ten minutes long, the preparation and thought that went into it are truly impressive. Other than the director, it is impressive just how many hands were involved in making it. Here is an in-depth background on how the scene was shot.

There is no doubt it’s always tear-jerking when a good movie guy dies or in particular is killed. However, there were obviously some moments when we cried watching the demise of the bad guys (and don’t say you never did it).
These 7 movie villains, chosen by Reddit, literally broke our hearts with their deaths.
1. Blade Runner (1982) - Roy Batty
Rutger Hauer’s rogue replicant died lamenting his memories "will be lost in time, like tears in rain" and realizing the inevitability of the fate waiting for him after what he had done.
“Probably the only villain I felt deeply for,” says Redditor @_my_simple_review.
2. The Mummy Returns (2001) - Imhotep
In the end of the movie the audience starts sympathizing with the High Priest of Osiris, whose actions were dictated by his love for Anck-su-namun, who eventually betrays him. Imhotep’s subsequent death is an extremely sad and touching moment to rewatch.

Willem Dafoe has been synonymous with the Green Goblin after starring as the character in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. The actor was the primary antagonist in the first film and made small cameos in subsequent films. He fully returned to the role in the MCU’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which saw him as the primary antagonist again.
While Dafoe is perfect as the Green Goblin, many fans have also hoped to see him in other villainous roles, primarily the Joker. However, fans got a glimpse of what he might have been like if he played Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man 2 instead of Alfred Molina in a rare behind-the-scenes footage from the Raimi directorial.

Agatha Christie’s mysterious plots have never quite left the cinematic world, however hard it seems to imagine after the modern and flamboyant image of Hercule Poirot has reappeared with Kenneth Branagh’s performances.
And even though now it’s difficult to see anyone else behind this role after Murder on the Oriented Express hit cinemas in 2017 and then was followed by two more films, Hercule Poirot had one more brilliant interpretation years ago — and with the MCU’s actor in the leading role.
Alfred Molina may have got most of its fame from portraying Dr Octopus, the superhero’s rival in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, but back in 2001 he turned to a very different role. In fact, the modernized look of Hercule Poirot is not Kenneth Branagh’s merit, but rather is what Molina has transformed the character into.

The actor opened up about his relationship with his father while looking back at his acting career during a recent interview with Vanity Fair.
The Spider-Man 2 star recalled turning down the chance to become a manager at a restaurant with a higher salary to pursue his passion for acting — a decision he said his dad didn’t understand.

Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy still remains one of the most iconic comic book movie trilogies of all time, since it introduced a plethora of villains long before MCU was a thing. One of those villains was Molina’s Doc Ock.
Molina portrayed the character’s arc flawlessly, transitioning from a brilliant scientist to a mind-controlled villain and ultimately becoming a genuine hero. Molina excelled in both emotional and action-packed scenes, adding depth to the character of Doc Ock and making him one of Spider-Man’s most compelling movie villains.
Now in his recent interview with Vanity Fair, Molina revealed that he was surprised he was asked to reprise his role. He was a bit worried however due to his advanced age, but Pascal and Watts reassured him they had the technology to “fix it.”

Iron Man is one of the most iconic characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So, it's hard to imagine the MCU without Robert Downey Jr.'s charismatic portrayal of Iron Man. However, Downey Jr.'s sentiments about returning left the Russo brothers, the masterminds behind the MCU, confused.
In a recent interview with Esquire, Downey Jr. dropped a bombshell—he’d be more than happy to don the Iron Man suit again. He even stated that being Iron Man was integral to his DNA, and he wouldn't be surprised if they would bring him back.

There are any number of actors who could have taken on the role of Dr. Otto Octavius in 2004's Spider-Man 2, but Sam Raimi made a somewhat unlikely choice with Alfred Molina. However, it would prove to absolutely be the right one.
The actor made Doctor Octopus his own and, even two decades later, his Doc Ock is still considered one of the best comic book supervillains to ever grace the screen.
In a recent interview, Molina reflected on his career and admitted he was surprised to be considered seeing as he was best known at the time for his roles in Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark and Frida.
"It was a big surprise to me, because it's not the kind of movie that I imagined myself to be qualified for. You always think of these big action films as [casting] physical types, and I've definitely never been that.

Alfred Molina’s career seems to be built on his weird onscreen relationship with spiders. The actor is best known for playing the role of Dr. Otto Octavius / Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man 2 and also reprised it in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, Molina’s debut film was the first entry in the Indiana Jones franchise.
Alfred Molina made his film debut with Raiders of the Lost Ark
In Raiders of the Lost Ark, Molina has a small role where he is forced to tend to a swarm of tarantulas while helping Indiana Jones. However, given the story behind the filming of the scene, which used real spiders, Molina’s dedication to his craft despite the small screen time he received in the film is commendable. Here is why Alfred Molina’s Raiders of the Lost Ark role deserves applause even after 43 years.

Alfred Molina recently opened up about reprising his iconic role of Doc Ock in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The veteran actor first played the fan-favorite villain in Spider-Man 2 where he faced off against Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man. He reprised the role again in the MCU film alongside the other villain actors in past Spider-Man franchise.
A lot of fans were delighted when Molina returned to the role after almost two decades and they believe that the actor still delivered an impressive performance just like his first appearance.

Michael Douglas is in terrific form as Benjamin Franklin in Apple TV’s new historical limited series “Franklin” but he isn’t the only actor to emerge with awards whispers whizzing through the air. Veteran actor Eddie Marsan features in a key supporting role as John Adams and delivers one of the finest performances of his career while also shining a new light onto a man that many actors have depicted before.
The limited series follows Franklin’s eight years in France as he tried to persuade King Louis XVI (Tom Pezier) to join the colonies’ cause and aid them in the American Revolutionary War. The scenes between Douglas and Marsan are nothing short of spectacular and Marsan nails his performance as Adams, as noted by critics.

With 36 productions eligible for this year’s Tony Awards, there were plenty of names missing when nominations were announced by Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Renée Elise Goldsberry on Tuesday morning. Among the most surprising 2024 Tony nominations snubs was “Patriots.” Peter Morgan‘s history play about Russia earned three Olivier Award nominations last year, including Best New Play, Actor (Tom Hollander) and Featured Actor (Will Keen). In New York, it only scored one for Michael Stuhlbarg, who took over the role played by Hollander in the UK; Keen, who reprises his role as Vladimir Putin, did not score a nomination in a category stuffed with “Stereophonic” performers.
The revival of “The Who’s Tommy” also significantly underperformed. Gold Derby users predicted it would land three nominations for Best Musical Revival, Best Actor for Ali Louis Bourzgui and Best Choreographer for Lorin Latarro, but it only earned one bid in the top revival category.

When we think of the iconic portrayal of Dr. Otto Octavius / Doctor Octopus in Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 2 (2004), one name instantly springs to mind: Alfred Molina. The latter’s performance as the villainous Doc Ock is widely considered to be among the finest performances of the entire Spider-Man film franchise.
But what if we told you that the London-born actor, 70, might not have even been a part of the film without the crucial role of Raimi’s wife, Gillian Greene? Can you think of anyone else who could portray the multifaceted villain with such finesse?
Alfred Molina as Dr. Octopus in Spider-Man 2
While Molina is a seasoned and talented actor with an impressive résumé, it was Greene’s keen eye behind the scenes that ultimately led to Molina’s casting as Otto Octavius.

Alfred Molina’s first big breakthrough and Hollywood movie debut, Raiders of the Lost Ark, starring Hollywood legend Harrison Ford, opened the doors for the actor to more potential roles. Molina now has more than 200 acting credits to his name, but when he joined the Steven Spielberg film, he was broke.

Molina recently revealed that Spielberg saved his life and career as an actor. But he owes a lot to the Hollywood gentleman for reducing Molina’s sinking boat as he struggled to walk through life.

Close races and sharp elbows are likely when the 2024 Tony Award nominations are announced Tuesday morning. With so many shows opening during the onslaught of the past two weeks, nominators might still be clearing their minds — and maybe taking a moment to eat and breathe — as they ponder and re-ponder the 36 productions that opened on Broadway between April 28, 2023, and April 25, 2024.
Some of the nominations are no-brainers: The much-praised and hugely popular Merrily We Roll Along is a sure bet for all concerned, but what about more polarizing fare? Cabaret, Here Lies Love, Water for Elephants, I’m looking at you.
A selection of categories will be read live on CBS Mornings at 8:30 am Et, and a full livestream of the announcements will follow at 9 a.m. Et on the official Tony Awards YouTube page.

Among the new productions on Broadway this spring is a revival of the classic musical “Cabaret,” starring Eddie Redmayne. In 2014 he starred as Stephen Hawking in director James Marsh‘s biopic “The Theory of Everything.” His performance won him an Oscar for Best Actor (making him the eighth youngest winner in that category at age 33), overcoming stiff competition from Michael Keaton, the star of the Best Picture winner of that year, “Birdman.” How did Redmayne pull through? Here are five reasons.
1. The industry felt he came into his own
Prior to “The Theory of Everything,” Redmayne was a rising star. In 2010 he won a Tony for his Broadway debut starring opposite Alfred Molina in John Logan‘s play “Red.” He went on to get more prominent film roles where critics, audiences and the industry started to take notice of him. Among them were Simon Curtis‘s 2011 Oscar-nominated biopic “My Week with Marilyn...

The finale of Sam Raimi’s trilogy has undoubtedly been one of the most divisive Spider-Man movies of all time. Therefore, due to the audience’s mixed reception, Sony Pictures assembled a Spider-Man 3 editor’s cut, for the home video. Alongside alternate takes, dialogue revisions, and other basic changes, the symbiote suit’s dark influence on Tobey Maguire, majorly added significance to the editor’s cut.
A still from Spider-Man 3
This brings us to one particular scene from the editor’s cut in Spider-Man 3 that made Tobey Maguire look really evil, under the influence of the symbiote suit. We’re talking about the bully Maguire’s dance scene, which was arranged differently in the editor’s cut, than what was done in the movies.

Life’s not all a cabaret for film actors making their way to Broadway.
In the case of Eddie Redmayne, who now stars as the ghoul-like and flamboyant Emcee in director Rebecca Frecknall’s “Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club” at New York’s August Wilson Theatre, life behind the scenes is more “monastic,” as he told IndieWire, than song-and-dance bacchanalia.
“When you’re doing a musical like this, it’s quite monastic living, and it’s almost more like being an athlete than an actor sometimes because when you’re doing eight shows a week, you’re keeping your voice in decent nick,” said Redmayne, Zooming from the backseat of a car between appointments, which just included lunch with Joel Grey, who famously starred as the Master of Ceremonies in Bob Fosse‘s Oscar-winning 1972 film.

“I’m always waiting for something different, a different and new challenge,” reveals Anika Noni Rose. A worthy challenge arose in the form of Anton Chekhov, and the latest Broadway revival of his classic play “Uncle Vanya.” The actress had never performed in a Chekhov play before, but for her first Broadway role in 10 years, she “thought it was just time to do something for me that was going to be very different.” Watch the exclusive video interview above.
Rose portrays Yelena in the revival, who is wedded to the older and egotistical professor Serebryakov (Alfred Molina). At their rural estate, the glamorous Yelena expresses boredom and begins to question whether her life choices have led her to the right destination. When Yelena agrees to help Sonia (Alison Pill) discover if her feelings for Astrov (William Jackson Harper) are reciprocated, she unknowingly unleashes a fiery passion in him which overwhelms the estate.

Although all three of the MCU Spider-Man movies have “home” in the title, Spidey didn’t feel like he really came home until the very end of Spider-Man: No Way Home. That’s when Peter Parker walked into a squalid New York City apartment, knit together a home-made suit, and remembered his late parent-figure’s words about power and responsibility. So why the heck is Marvel unsure about what to do next?
From the first stories by Steve Ditko and Stan Lee to the married father of two in Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto’s Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man is almost always a hard-luck hero, a guy who struggles to maintain his personal life, limited financial budget, and Spidey responsibilities. Tom Holland’s last Marvel outing was as Peter Parker in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. The legendary film saw him team up with not just Doctor Strange, but also with other live-action iterations of the superhero, namely Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield. The film was commercially successful, earning $1.9 billion at the global box office.
The actor has pursued other projects since the third Spider-Man film and has been biding his time to return as the web crawler again. Holland recently opened up about Spider-Man 4 and gave an update on what stage the film was at. In the time leading up to the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, it was known that Marvel Studios would be exploring the possibilities of the multiverse. After the casting news of actors like Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina returning to reprise their roles as former Spider-Man villains, many fans went into further speculation about who else may show up. While the studio had done a pretty bang-up job of keeping the secret of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield sealed, there was a certain leaked picture of Garfield on the set, which led to a debate of its validity as it threw fuel onto the speculation fires.
However, the rumor mill would be overrun with theories about what characters may make an appearance in the 2021 film. One obvious candidate for a rumored return was Dane DeHaan, who portrayed Harry Osborne in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. In that film, Osborne would...

Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man ushered in an age of popularity for comic book movies that had never been seen on screen before. Helmed by Sam Raimi, with Kirsten Dunst playing Mary Jane Watson opposite Maguire’s Peter Parker, the film was an unprecedented hit. The film’s success meant that the studio immediately greenlit a sequel.
The leading actors returned to reprise their roles, and it also saw Maguire’s demand rise, since it had boosted his fame. Unsurprisingly, there was a pretty significant difference in the salaries of both protagonists. It is not far-fetched to believe he also pocketed a hefty check to star in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Fritz Wepper, a German actor with a prolific TV career in his native country but known to American audiences for his funny and heartfelt performance as a German Jew is Bob Fosse’s Oscar-winning 1972 hit musical Cabaret, died Monday at a hospice facility in Munich. He was 82.
His death was announced by wife Susanne Kellermann to German newspaper Bild. Kellerman said Wepper passed away peacefully following a long illness.
