Made on a budget of less than $100,000, director Rhys Frake-Waterfield’s movie Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (watch it Here) earned more than $6 million during its global release in early 2023… and sure, the movie racked up the Razzies, but it’s money that matters, and that’s why Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 was made and given a theatrical release earlier this year. We know the Australia-based company Umbrella Entertainment will be giving the film a special edition Blu-ray release next month, and now it has been announced (via Collider) that Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 will be receiving a VOD release in the United States on June 26th!
A.A. Milne’s 1926 children’s book Winnie-the-Pooh and the characters in it lapsed into the public domain at the start of last year, and that’s how Frake-Waterfield was able to make these movies happen, no permission required.

More photos from the set of The Witcher season 4 have been shared online, and this time we have an actual first glimpse of Liam Hemsworth suited-up as Geralt of Rivia!
The recent third season of Netflix's fantasy adventure series was original Geralt actor Henry Cavill's last, as the Man of Steel star announced his decision to part ways with the streamer's adaptation of the best-selling novels back in 2022.
Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) will take over as the titular monster hunter from season 4 on, and a recent photo from the set featured his stunt-double Joel Adrian in-costume. Adrian looked enough like Hemsworth to fool a lot of people, but these snaps spotlight the man himself.
The photos show Hemsworth as Geralt doing battle with Vilgefortz (Mahesh Jadu), and appear to be recreating a scene from season 3 which saw the mage emerge victorious. There is also one shot of Geralt...

Though the image did fool us at first, this is not actually Hemsworth himself (although he does look quite a bit like him), but his stunt-double Joel Adrian.
During a recent interview with Collider, co-star Freya Allan said she's looking forward to seeing what Hemsworth brings to the role, but is also concerned about the level of fan backlash he's sure to receive.

ITV has confirmed that the fourteenth series of Vera will be the last. The details of the show ending are right here.
Brenda Blethyn’s career has been prolific, from playing timid librarian Alison opposite Simon Callow in Andrew Norriss and Richard Fegen’s wonderful 1980s sitcom Chance In A Million to her BAFTA winning turn as Cynthia in Mike Leigh’s 1996 film Secrets And Lies.
For over a decade, Blethyn has played the softly spoken yet dogged detective Vera Stanhope, created by author Ann Cleeves.

ITV has now confirmed that the 14th series of Vera will be the last, though.

The original Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey was easily one of the worst films of last year, but based on its outrageous premise and low budget, it managed to turn a profit. That of course means a sequel, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, with all the usual claims of a bigger budget, more kills and better effects. Conspicuously absent were promises of a decent script or acting, however.
Taking place a year after the original, Blood and Honey 2 opens with the introduction of Owl, who looks more like a vulture than anything. He joins Pooh and Piglet in their fun and games, starting with the torture and killing of three scantily clad campers.
Elsewhere, Christopher Robin, now played by Scott Chambers, aka producer Scott Jeffrey,...

We already knew that there’s going to be another installment in the Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey horror franchise, because it was announced earlier this month that Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey and Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 (which is now on the last day of its three-day theatrical run) a part of a cinematic universe with other horror movies inspired by children’s stories, like Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, Bambi: The Reckoning, and Pinocchio Unstrung, and it’s building up to the crossover movie Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, which will be released in 2025. But now Variety has been able to confirm that, in addition to Poohniverse, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3 is also moving ahead. This sequel will have a bigger budget than either of its predecessors, and “will introduce new characters from the original Winnie-the-Pooh stories, including Rabbit, the heffalumps and the woozles.

For more than 40 years now, moviegoers have lined up to see the spectacle of people being slaughtered by a psycho with a chainsaw, a psycho in a Halloween mask, a psycho in a goalie mask, a psycho with burnt skin and a striped shirt and fedora, or a psycho with S&m nails in his face. So why not a psycho Winnie the Pooh?
“Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey” raised a few hackles — otherwise known as free publicity — for having the scuzzy temerity to take a couple of beloved children’s characters and place them at the center of a slasher film. Yet the stunt concept was about all there was to it. The movie, made on a budget of $50,000, was too logy and inept to be a real scandal, or any sort of theatrical sleeper hit. Naomi Scott has been set to star in Paramount Pictures’ untitled sequel to its hit horror pic Smile. Parker Finn wrote the script and will direct. Temple Hill is producing.
The original was a runaway hit last year after Paramount made the smart move to release it in theaters rather than o Paramount+. The gamble paid off: the film went on to gross $217 million worldwide, with a sequel quickly put in development.

Kit Harington is back to work!
The 36-year-old Game of Thrones actor takes on a very different role for Eternal Return, alongside Naomi Scott and Simon Callow, which filmed scenes on Sunday (November 12) in London, England.
In the scenes, the trio follow a map that leads them to The Windmill nightclub. Later on, they are seen escaping out the back door and running to their car to escape.
The movie follows Cass (Scott), a young woman who has resigned herself to a life of emotional invulnerability until she meets Virgil (Harington), a cartographer who makes maps to imaginary places. Along with his partner Malcolm (Jeremy Irons), a vibrant renaissance man, the pair relentlessly attempts to travel back in time to awaken Cass to love again.
The original feature is written and directed by Yaniv Raz.
There’s also an update about Kit Harington‘s HBO spinoff for Jon Snow!

"He's proving to be quite the distraction." Goldwyn Films debuts this indie romance on VOD in December, after its initial small theatrical debut in September in both the UK and US. Surprised by Oxford marks the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Ryan Whitaker, who's adapting the story found in the memoir by Carolyn Weber. Brilliant but emotionally-guarded Caro arrives in Oxford with the singular goal of attaining her PhD, but through a turbulent friendship with a charming young man she begins to open herself up to mystery, vulnerability, and love. Headlined by Rose Reid, the film takes viewers on a transformative and tumultuous journey. The cast includes Ruairi O'Connor as her lover, Phyllis Logan, Mark Williams, Simon Callow, with Emma Naomi, Michael Culkin, and Annabelle Holloway. This doesn't seem all that bad for a romance, featuring a bit less camp than usual, plus strong performances and intense passion. // Continue Reading...

In any big 2023 “Year in Film” summary, there are likely to be some very obvious entries. The cultural phenomenon that was Barbenheimer will no doubt play a lead role, as will the writers and actors strikes. Then there are major hits, such as The Super Mario Bros Movie, and the Oscars-dominating Everything Everywhere All at Once.
But any half-decent write-up should also mention a micro-budget British slasher.
Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey — made for considerably less than $100,000 — sparked international headlines when it was released in February, largely due to a childhood-bludgeoning premise about a rampaging, murderous Pooh (and Piglet), having already been on lists of the most anticipated movies of the year. It would earn almost $6 million internationally, an incredible sum for a film that had been initially destined for the straight-to-digital dungeons (and putting it high on the list of features with the best budget-to-box-office ratios). Director Joe Stephenson’s Doctor Jekyll, “a modern interpretation” of Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1886 novella The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde that stars gender fluid comedian/actor Eddie Izzard (The Lost Symbol) as Doctor Nina Jekyll, is set to reach cinemas in the UK on October 27th – and with that date just a few weeks away, a trailer for the film has arrived online. You can check it out in the embed above.
Stephenson developed Doctor Jekyll with first-time writer Dan Kelly-Mulhern during the UK lockdown. The story they crafted follows the reclusive Nina Jekyll finding friendship with her newly hired help, Rob. They must work together to prevent Hyde from destroying her life.
Rob is played by Scott Chambers, who worked with Stephenson on the film Chicken. Also in the cast are Tony Jayawardena (The Crown), Robyn Cara (Ackley Bridge), the appropriately named Jonathan Hyde (Titanic), and...

Horror stories don't get much more iconic than Robert Louis Stevenson's 1886 gothic novella Strange Case Of Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde, which has been brought to screens big and small for years since its publication. Horror film studios, meanwhile, don't get much more iconic than Hammer. So when you combine the two, it's hopefully a case of two great tastes tasting great together. The production company returns with a brand new adaptation of the tome, and while we previously brought you :a[an exclusive look at Eddie Izzard starring]{href='https://www.empireonline.com/movies/news/eddie-izzard-doctor-jekyll-new-hammer-film-october-release-date-confirmed-exclusive/' } in Doctor Jekyll, now here comes the trailer, full of suspense and subterfuge…

Hammer Films returns to life with a new owner and a new slate of movies, and up first is the previously announced Doctor Jekyll, which stars Eddie Izzard in the title role.
Doctor Jekyll will release in UK cinemas on October 27, and the official trailer has been debuted by the freshly relaunched Hammer this morning. Watch it down below.
Director Joe Stephenson recently told Fangoria, “There’ve been over 100 cinematic adaptations of Stevenson’s novella, but there has never been a trans Dr. Jekyll. There seem to be some assumptions that because Nina is a trans character, we are somehow going to make it about gender. That is not the case; the themes of our film are true to the original work.”

Season 4 of Netflix’s hit show “Emily in Paris” and Amazon Prime’s “Etoile” are two of the high profile U.S. productions tentatively scheduled to start shooting in January in the French capital ahead of the Olympic Games.
With the WGA strike over and SAG-AFTRA preparing to resume negotiations with studios, time is of the essence for producers who are hoping to slot their shoots before the start of the massive sports celebration this summer. From June to September, all shoots will be barred in Paris, while access to some posh areas around the Concorde and Trocadero will be restricted starting in March.
“Emily in Paris” Season 4 was initially scheduled to start shooting in the summer at the Cité du Cinema studios, where the last three seasons were filmed. But the Cité du Cinema has been booked for the Olympic Games starting in mid-November, so the series will shoot at the nearby Studios Monjoie.

Adapted from Carolyn Weber’s memoir of the same name, Ryan Whitaker’s drama suggests that finding love and God when you least expect it is a deeply bland affair
This is a film based on a true story, but it doesn’t make this faith-based romantic drama look or feel anything like reality. It is adapted from a memoir by the American author and academic Carolyn Weber about her time at Oxford on a full scholarship writing a PhD on the Romantics. I felt it in the pit of my stomach about 10 minutes in when it dawned on me the “surprise” was that she found God.
Directed by Ryan Whitaker, this is a film very much in keeping with the conventions of Christian drama: blandly inspirational with a glazed-over style of acting, aside from some gobsmackingly unsubtle eccentric professors, hammily performed by actors including Simon Callow. (I half-wondered if...

Film studios don’t get much more iconic than Hammer Films, the production company that defined the horror genre in Britain throughout the 1950s, 1960s and beyond, releasing classics including Dracula, The Curse Of Frankenstein and The Mummy. Whilst the studio’s repertoire expands beyond just horror movies, its back catalogue of monsters and more are its signature, and have had a lasting impact on the genre to this day. Nearly 90 years after Hammer was founded, they’re moving into a new era with the release of Doctor Jekyll – a modern take on the classic double-identity story, starring comedy and screen legend Eddie Izzard in the titular role.
Izzard plays Nina Jekyll, an infamous doctor who takes on some hired help in the form of ex-convict Rob (Scott Chambers). Little does Rob know, he’s part of a sinister master plan concocted by Nina’s alter-ego, Rachel Hyde. Chaos and weirdness ensures,...

Made on a budget of less than $100,000, director Rhys Frake-Waterfield’s movie Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (watch it Here) earned more than $6 million during its global release earlier this year. So it was no surprise to hear that a sequel was on the fast track, with Premiere Entertainment having secured multiple international distribution deals for Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, which would have a substantially larger budget than its predecessor. The sequel is now in production, and The Hollywood Reporter has unveiled a batch of first look images that feature Pooh and Piglet, as well as Christopher Robin and Owl! You can check them out at the bottom of this article.

As promised, a sequel to this year’s Winnie the Pooh slasher movie is on the way, and in fact, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 is already in production!
The Hollywood Reporter shares the first images from the upcoming Blood and Honey sequel this morning, which preview the return of the murderous incarnation of Pooh.
The sequel will also feature the characters Christopher Robin, Piglet, and Owl.
THR notes, “Currently in production, the sequel comes with a bigger budget, more kills and even an Olivier Award-winning, BAFTA-nominated star in the form of Simon Callow (Four Weddings and a Funeral), who has joined the cast.”
“Bigger and Badder. The sequel will feature new creature designs, a new cast, and a high death count,” said writer/director Rhys Frake-Waterfield. “However, this time Pooh and friends will be leaving the 100 Acre Wood to take their fight to the quiet community of Ashdown!

Pooh Bear is back, but not the cutesy, softly-spoken and honey-guzzling children’s variety. This one comes with sledgehammer and a penchant for bloody murder.
The Hollywood Reporter can exclusively reveal the first stills from Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, the follow-up to the micro-budget British slasher that went viral last year for its childhood-bludgeoning premise, became one of the most talked about films of 2023 and would earn $5.2 million in the global box office after costing under $100,000 to make.
Currently in production, the sequel comes with a bigger budget, more kills and even an Olivier Award-winning, BAFTA-nominated star in the form of Simon Callow (Four Weddings and a Funeral), who has joined the cast.
“Bigger and Badder. The sequel will feature new creature designs, a new cast, and a high death count,” said writer/director Rhys Frake-Waterfield. “However, this time Pooh and friends will be leaving the 100 Acre Wood to...

“Shakespeare in Love” actor Simon Callow has been cast in the sequel to micro-budget slasher hit “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey.”
Stage and screen star Callow, who has also appeared in “Four Weddings and a Funeral” and “The Witcher” among other fare, is set to play a character called Cavendish, who is described by the filmmakers as “a pivotal character with a dark past somehow tied to Christopher Robin.”
“Cavendish’s tragic life, marked with alcoholism, violence and regret, not only brings significant depth to the story, but revelation as well,” the producers tell Variety.
Variety understands Callow was approached via his agents and, liking the character, agreed to sign on for the role.
“Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” debuted earlier this year and quickly became a smash hit, grossing almost $5 million of a budget of less than $100,000.

Eddie Izzard stars in the upcoming Doctor Jekyll, which will receive its World Premiere at FrightFest on August 25. While you wait, a short teaser has debuted this morning.
There’s not much to see here, but the teaser does give us a fresh look at Eddie Izzard as Dr. Nina Jekyll, a brand new take on the classic horror character. Check it out below.
