This article contains casting spoilers for all eight episodes of Fallout.
The Fallout gaming franchise presents a big storytelling universe to play in. And that’s exactly what drew showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner to the Prime Video TV adaptation in the first place.
“It’s more creatively interesting to be able to build our own story in the world that they’ve carved out for us,” Wagner told Den of Geek. “That’s historically been the trajectory of Fallout. It’s traded hands many times, with different creative teams taking it over. It’s kept it fresh, kept it relevant. We chose to just vainly look at this as our Fallout.”
Of course, a big storytelling universe also requires a big cast to fill it up. Prime Video’s Fallout isn’t wanting for compelling lead characters thanks to Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell), Maximus (Aaron Moten), and The Ghoul...

Angelina Jolie has gone on to achieve one of the most impressive film careers in Hollywood. But her film career almost had a much shorter run after doing her acclaimed feature Gia.

Gia was a 1998 biopic about the life of supermodel Gia Carangi. Jolie ended up playing Gia, who experienced massive success in her modeling career before tragedy struck. The USA Network hacking thriller "Mr. Robot" is one of the best and most underrated dramas of the past decade. Initially, "Mr. Robot" seemed like a risky project. While writer-director Sam Esmail established his merits as a creator with his highly underrated feature film directorial debut, "Comet," he had yet to prove himself as the showrunner of a complex narrative series. Rami Malek was rising star thanks to his role on HBO's "The Pacific," but the character of Elliot Alderson was very different from anything that he had done before.
All of these concerns evaporated after the first season reached its conclusion. With its stylistic direction, relevant social themes, electrifying soundtrack, and shocking twists, "Mr. Robot" was unlike anything else on television. It seems closer to an arthouse film than anything. The show contains allusions to such classics as "Blade Runner," "The Matrix," "Pi," and "Taxi Driver." "Mr. Robot" continued...

HBO’s “The Last Movie Stars,” Ethan Hawkes’ exceptional six-part series on Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, works on so many levels. For baby boomers who grew up watching the Oscar-winning couple, the series is a strong emotional tug at the heartstrings. For actors and those who love acting, it’s a primer on the craft. For those who love and admire the fact they remained married for 50 years, it’s a perceptive depiction of the highs, lows and struggles of a marriage. And by peeling away the legend of their union, you end up admiring and loving Newman and Woodward more than ever. And be prepared to blubber several times in the final episode.
The couple collaborated on 16 movies and three plays. And in honor of “The Last Movie Stars,” here’s a look at several of those projects.
The two fell in love while working on William Inge’s 1953 Pulitzer-Prize-winning romantic drama ‘Picnic.

Coming off a 19-year directing hiatus, after the much-maligned Angelina Jolie thriller “Original Sin,” writer/director Michael Cristofer’s newest film, “The Night Clerk,” is the type of amateurish inert sexual thriller that will, fortunately or not, end up forgotten in a pile of VOD releases. One that wastes a talented cast, including Ana de Armas, who, with “Knives Out” and the upcoming “No Time to Die,” will hopefully be moving out of these lazily typecast films sometime soon.

In “The Night Clerk,” Tye Sheridan and a very busy Ana de Armas star as a hotel clerk with Asperger’s and the solicitous beauty who shows up after a murder. The chemistry between Sheridan and de Armas is involving. The casting of Helen Hunt as a enabling mother and John Leguizamo as a police detective holds promise. And some of the choices by writer-director Michael Cristofer and cinematographer Noah Greenberg intrigue. But the thriller — in theaters, on demand and available via digital HD on Feb. 21 — never tips into must-catch territory.
Even before the death of a woman checked into the hotel, things get very strange very quickly. Bart (Sheridan) spies on the guests, sometimes on his laptop during the nighttime hours at the suites-style hotel. More often, as he sits in his basement-level apartment surveying an array of monitors that capture different angles on the mundane actions of travelers:...

High art and low art is at war with itself in The Night Clerk, a thriller with aims to be something more. At times, this independent film offers up an intriguing look at an unusual protagonist. At other points, however, it falls victim to cheesy B movie tropes, torpedoing its effectiveness. A surprisingly stacked cast is underwhelming, largely due to the material, preventing them from elevating things much. For every moment that compels, at least one other confounds. This flick has the kernel of something interesting within it, but sadly it’s too far concealed within mediocrity to be worthy of a recommendation. Opening this week, it’s a misfire, all in all. The film is a thriller with some light character study elements thrown in. Bart Bromley (Tye Sheridan) is a night clerk at a hotel chain. Highly intelligent but on the autism spectrum, Bart spends his days observing people,...

There’s a scene in Michael Cristofer’s The Night Clerk where lead character Bart Bromley (Tye Sheridan) misreads a situation and kisses a woman. His Asperger’s kicks into overdrive, merging a contrite apology with verbal self-flagellation before promising to never do anything so misguided and potentially damaging again. Impulse conquered conditioning for a split second and he’s ready to retreat so far within himself that he’ll never go out in public again thanks to shame—something that wouldn’t be too difficult since he’s already exiled himself to his mother’s basement and only leaves when it’s time to work his evening shift at the local hotel. It’s a very human reaction dialed to eleven and yet seemingly out of character considering he also records people without permission inside their rooms.

Saban Films has unveiled an official trailer for an indie thriller titled The Night Clerk, which is arriving in theaters this February despite not premiering at any festivals or elsewhere. While on duty, a young, socially challenged hotel clerk witnesses a murder in one of the rooms but his suspicious actions land him as the lead detective's number one suspect. This is written and directed by an award-winning playwright – Michael Cristofer – making his third feature film, his latest since Original Sin in 2001. Tye Sheridan stars as the hotel clerk Bart Bromley, with a cast including Ana de Armas, John Leguizamo, Helen Hunt, Johnathon Schaech, and Jacque Gray. This reminds me a lot of Bad Times at the El Royale, but doesn't look anywhere near as good as that film. Take a look below. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster...

When it comes to processing the Mr. Robot final season premiere's devastating first scene, perhaps it's best to remember a certain phrase: "You're panicking right now. Remove all emotion, and you will do just fine."
In her closing moments on Earth, Angela Moss (Portia Doubleday) utters those words to Phillip Price (Michael Cristofer), one of the most powerful men in the world — but not powerful enough to stop what's coming. It's ironic that one of Angela's final ...

When Mr. Robot debuted in the summer of 2015, none of its individual components were clearly new. The cyberpunk drama’s then-unknown creator, Sam Esmail, readily copped to the influences of paranoid Seventies thrillers like The Parallax View. Late in that first season, the show even played a piano version of the Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind?” as a tip of the cap to Fight Club, from which Esmail liberally borrowed the idea that his title character, played by Christian Slater, was actually an alternate personality of hacker hero Elliot Alderson...

It can be easy to forget quite how big a deal, in its early going, “Mr. Robot” was.
It eventually became, fairly enough, a hallmark for narrative and directorial excess. But the series, about Elliot, a hacker attempting to remake America, had the real-life effect of remaking the USA Network, shifting the cabler conclusively away from its previous model of sunny workplace dramedy. Its broader implications included the launches of executive producer Sam Esmail, with Amazon’s “Homecoming” and USA’s forthcoming “Briarpatch” to his credit, and star Rami Malek. And its conceit, that the world is governed by entities interested in seeding chaos for their own benefit, has seemed more urgent since the show’s 2015 premiere. The near-perfect first season had the right talent and the right timing.
But subsequent seasons’ refusal to consider the world outside Elliot’s head diminished its viewership and reputation. So it is that Season 4, the show’s last,...

The USA Network has released a new trailer for the fourth and final season of Mr. Robot. The next season is set during the holidays, but don’t let that fool you… this is a gloomy trailer that’s not meant to bring joy and peace into the world.
I’ve enjoyed the hell out of this series, and with this new trailer teasing an endless war, I’m really curious to see how this story comes to a close. It was also announced that Mr. Robot Season 4 would premiere on Sunday, October 6th at 10/9c.
Here’s the synopsis for the show:
Mr. Robot follows Elliot Alderson (Malek), a former cyber-security engineer who became involved in the underground hacker group society, after being recruited by their leader (Slater). The group successfully pulled off their five/nine hack on multi-national company Evil Corp in the first season, causing a global...

USA Network has finally announced when “Mr. Robot” will return for its final season, and with the release date comes a trailer set to a very unsettling version of the Christmas classic, “Silent Night.”
The final season will premiere on Sunday, October 6 at 10 p.m. Et.
The fourth and final run will take place over the Christmas holiday in 2015 and, according to the network, “will be filled with hacking, splashed with blood and answer the series’ most pressing questions.” Season 4 will pick up where the third season finale left off, delving into the pros and cons of Elliot (Rami Malek) hitting “send” on the email that could reverse 5/9.

Sometimes, really bad things happen around Christmastime. So it seems to be the case for Elliot and the many individuals wrapped up in the global chaos of “Mr. Robot.”
The series, which returns for its fourth and final season in early October, finds Elliot (Rami Malek) once again dealing with the ramifications of trying to undo his hacktivist past. Still working with the pesky spectral presence of Mr. Robot (Christian Slater), Elliot’s at the center of a yuletide reversal of fortune that could turn back the clock on the grand, economy-destabilizing project that’s been brewing since the beginning of the series.
Also back to help tell the closing chapters in the story are cast members Portia Doubleday, Carly Chaikin, Bd Wong, Grace Gummer, Martin Wallström, and Michael Cristofer. It’s not a stretch to say that at least a few of these central figures in the series may...

Mr. Robot certainly has been a crazy and interesting journey. I’ve enjoyed this series, and I love the story that it has told! Well, the intriguing story is going to be coming to an end soon. The final season is set to premiere in a few months, and we have a somber new teaser trailer to share with you for it.
In the teaser, Rami Malek’s character Elliot contemplates if all the people he hurt on his journey were worth it to get to where he is now.
Mr. Robot follows Elliot Alderson (Malek), a former cyber-security engineer who became involved in the underground hacker group society, after being recruited by their leader (Slater). The group successfully pulled off their five/nine hack on multi-national company Evil Corp in the first season, causing a global catastrophe and sending the world into a spiral in the second, with season three of Mr.

The first teaser for the fourth and final season of “Mr. Robot” is out, and the series is looking as intense as ever.
The teaser for the USA Network show doesn’t shed much in the way of plot information, but the somber music and lighting certainly fit the series’ bleak tone. An unseen woman questions series protagonist Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek), asking him how many people he has hurt to get what he wants.
Alderson doesn’t answer, but there’s no doubt that many people have suffered over the last three twisty seasons of “Mr. Robot.” Malek plays a vigilante hacker with dissociative identity disorder and a host of other mental illnesses, and his efforts to free the American public from debt spirals into all sorts of chaos. Drug use, corporate rule, economic collapse, and similarly heavy themes are pervasive throughout the series, which has won two Emmys.

Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail unwrapped only one big reveal about the coming final season of his series, which is known for tense action and psychological twists and turns.
