Severance may not have a return date yet, but the first footage and photo released Monday by Apple TV+ have us eagerly awaiting our next elevator ride to Lumon Industries.

A tale of revenge and justice, “Big Brother” centers on a mysterious figure in black who, every full moon, viciously attacks a person before vanishing into the night. The victims, all unpunished sexual offenders, are carefully selected.
A detective and an investigative journalist team up to solve these crimes, while the story also unfolds from the perspective of this enigmatic assailant, who sees himself as an agent of justice for the victims failed by society.
Actor, producer, screenwriter and ACT4 co-founder Ólafur Darri Ólafsson will serve as showrunner and executive producer. He leads the writers room, which includes actress Aníta Briem who wrote and created the series “As Long as We Live” as well as Anna Gunndís Guðmundsdóttir and Teitur Magnússon.

Like many productions last year, Severance season 2 was brought to a halt due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, but Ben Stiller took to X this morning to announce that filming has finally resumed.

Severance stars Adam Scott as Mark Scout, who leads a team at Lumon Industries “whose employees have undergone a severance procedure, which surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. This daring experiment in ‘work-life balance’ is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work… and of himself.”
Patricia Arquette, John Turturro, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Dichen Lachman, Jen Tullock, Tramell Tillman, Michael Chernus, and Christopher Walken have all returned for the new season, with a few new additions as well.

Severance is “Back to work.” Director and executive producer Ben Stiller took to Instagram this morning to confirm that the Apple TV+ drama series had returned to production after a months-long delay due to the Hollywood strikes.
Stiller’s Instagram post, captioned “Back to work,” features a black-and-white photo of star Adam Scott running through what appears to be a hallway at Lumon Industries.
Severance had paused production on Season 2 in May when the WGA went on strike, which was then followed by the SAG-AFTRA walkout. With both strikes long resolved, production is now back on course.

Icelandic production company Act 4 is set to turn Skuli Sigurdsson’s award-winning Nordic crime novel “Big Brother” (“Stóri bróðir”) into a TV drama.
Act 4, founded earlier this year by a group of top Icelandic industry execs, has optioned Sigurdsson’s chilling debut novel with actor, producer and Act 4 co-founder Olafur Darri Olafsson (“The Tourist”) on board as showrunner and executive producer.
“Big Brother” tells the story of a detective and an investigative journalist who set out to solve a “mysterious case,” according to the logline. “Men are being severely beaten on every full moon by what seems like the same perpetrator. But the story is also told from the perspective of the perpetrator, who considers his crimes an act of retribution for old wrongdoings.”
The story asks tough questions of its audience when it comes to crime and punishment as well as being a critique of society’s failure to properly deal with sexual violence.

The Tourist needs a new home. The action drama series has been renewed for a second season by BBC, but The Tourist has lost its US outlet. Season one was released on HBO Max in March 2022, but the American streaming service didn't pick up the second season. "A secret that could change the course of history..." Signature Ent. in the UK has posted their own official trailer for an Icelandic thriller titled Operation Napoleon: Frozen Conspiracy, which will be headed straight-to-vod in the UK this summer. This German-Iceland production already opened in both countries earlier this year, but doesn't have a US release set yet. Not sure why, looks like it could be a gripping watch. Operation Napoleon is a thrilling adventure of a modern-day lawyer sucked into an international conspiracy after being accused of a murder she didn't commit. Her only chance of freedom lies in uncovering the secret of an old German WWII airplane, long buried deep beneath the ice, before the CIA. Starring Iain Glen, Vivian Ólafsdóttir, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, and Jack Fox. Based on the best-selling novel. This looks mysterious enough to get my attention, and Iceland has been bringing us tons of great films recently.

“This boy is like Mary Poppins! He brings this new, sexy element into their home that neither of them can control. He helps them rediscover each other,” explains Briem.
“Beta has an 18-month-old child, she is in the midst of postnatal depression, but at the same time her body is becoming her own once again. I use sexuality as a representation for her awakening. She has this whole world locked away inside of her head and a big part of her journey is to bring it all out.”
She drew on her own life for inspiration, she says.

"Perhaps you're not searching for something… Perhaps you're running away from something…" Ohh sh*t this rules!! Another must watch short film to enjoy, highly recommend watching this. The Rock of Ages is made by Australian filmmaker Eron Sheean, though it's really an Icelandic production. The distant past. A soldier of uncertain provenance (of which army? which era?) stumbles through a vast, desolate landscape, attempting to outrun the evil he's done. While fleeing his enemies, he encounters an odd talking rock which promises to grant his deepest desire. Starring Tómas Lemarquis as the soldier, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as the rock. The talking rock is an actual practical set piece, animated by a puppeteer - Izabela Claudia Mos. It was shot on Iceland, hence why it all looks so gorgeous. I just love how visceral and authentic this looks, and the rock reminds me of classic 80s movies like The NeverEnding Story & Labyrinth.

Directed by Ben Stiller and created by Dan Erickson, Season 1 of "Severance" on Apple TV+ has proven itself one of the most powerful and resonating sci-fi series in recent memory. It takes place in a mysterious company called Lumon whose workers' consciousnesses are severed into their work selves (referred to in-world as "Innies") and their outside selves ("Outies"), with neither being privy to the experiences and memories of the others. The series wrestles with the ethical implications of the severance procedure, Lumon's eerie and curious motives and operations, and the characters' own attempts to get to the bottom of everything.
While the first season faced a number of production barriers due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the sci-fi thriller nonetheless became a hit upon its premiere. It earned a whopping 14 Emmy nominations, netting two wins in a packed field of excellent nominees. For the "Severance" fan who can't wait much longer for the series to return,...
