The sci-fi genre has always been one of the most beloved among cinephiles as it gives us a new look at a particular technology or our world. There was a time when Max (formerly known as HBO Max) was the place for peak sci-fi shows but after taking off Westworld and Raised by Wolves from the service, and since then it has been lacking a bit regarding sci-fi shows. But still, we picked the seven best sci-fi shows that we could find on Max.

This article contains spoilers for all seasons of Fringe.
Many saw it as the second coming of The X-Files – a fresh retake on a group of agents, scientists, and conspiracy theorists that investigated pseudoscientific cases that normal reasoning could not explain. Fringe was a timely update to the format Fox had perfected in the late ‘90s and early 2000s, and creators J. J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman, and Roberto Orci, mad-scientists in their own right, arguably brought the original Gen X viewers of X-Files and a new millennial audience together. Not by simply rehashing the same old “monster of the week” episodes, but connecting the outlandish science-fiction elements with realistic human experience.
Fringe followed the casework of the Fringe Division, a Federal Task Force supported within the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which includes Agent Olivia Dunham, (Anna Torv) Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble), and Walter’s estranged son, Peter (Joshua Jackson...

Oh, welcome back! Fantasy Island Season 2 Episode 1 drops us right back into the frothy yet thoughtful, magically heart-warming world of Ms. Roarke and Ruby.
With awesome guest stars like Lucifer's Rachael Harris, Curb Your Enthusiasm's Cheryl Hines, and The Good Doctor's Jasika Nicole, our take-off is assured.
Now, whether the landing was smooth depends on how invested you were in the respective personal lives of Ruby and Elena.
The only fly in my ointment was Dr. Gina and Ruby parting ways.
After everything Ruby went through on Fantasy Island Season 1, I had a lot riding on seeing her and Gina kick up their heels together.
They seemed good for each other, and it may be that the breakup will turn out to be good for Ruby as well.
However, I feel a little blindsided by it. Maybe because it's been over a year since Season 1 wrapped. Maybe...

AMC released the trailer for its upcoming original series, “Dark Winds.” Based on the “Leaphorn & Chee” books by Tony Hillerman, the noir thriller premieres June 12 on AMC and AMC+ with its first two episodes and a new episode each Sunday thereafter.
“Dark Winds” takes place in 1971, on a secluded outpost of the Navajo Nation near Monument Valley, Ariz. The series follows Tribal Police Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) as he is overcome by a string of what seem to be completely unrelated crimes. But, as he gets closer to the truth, the more he is visited by the wounds of his past. His new deputy, Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon), joins him on the journey, and he, too, has scores to settle from his years on the reservation as a young man. The two men join forces in the battle against evil, themselves and their demons as they travel the path to salvation.

LGBTQ rights organization Born Perfect has released a short film called “Bobby’s Big Problem” to educate the public about the dangers of conversion therapy.
Told through puppets, “Bobby’s Big Problem” takes a comedic look at conversion therapy, satirizing the outdated ideas of gender and sexuality held by the people in charge of such programs. In the film, a young boy named Bobby (Rb Butcher) is taken to a therapist (Patton Oswalt) by his mother (D’Arcy Carden), who claims she “just wants what’s best” for her son as he begins to experience same-sex attraction. Though the therapist swears he’s not practicing conversion therapy, what follows is a series of scenes where Bobby and a cute fellow patient must assert their masculinity in order to “become straight” — something the therapist achieves by beating up pillows with tennis rackets and lobbing footballs straight at Bobby’s eyes. Bobby explains...

The first iteration of Punky Brewster didn’t deal with sexuality because, well, they were kids and it was the 1980s.
But now the sitcom has splashed back into our lives as a Peacock update starring an adult Soleil Moon Frye as the titular character and Cherie Johnson as her forever bestie Cherie. And fans get to see a divorced mother of three foster a fourth child while dipping her toe in the dating pool. Punky also co-parents with her former hubby Travis (Freddie Prinze Jr.), and they still dig each other, even if they can’t really act on those lovey-dovey vibes.

Some actors spend their whole lives trying to separate themselves from the roles that made them famous. But Soleil Moon Frye doesn’t roll like that.
Frye was eight years old when her titular sunny role as Punky Brewster turned her into the pig-tailed playmate kids loved having around in the ’80s. Now that she’s all grown up with kids of her own, Frye says the Peacock revival has allowed her to tap into a wave of nostalgia she likely shares with fans.

Peacock's Punky Brewster Revival Premiere: Grade Soleil Moon Frye's Ability to Turn Our World Around
Different colored Chucks, a pair of overalls and a bandana or two is all the beloved title character in Peacock’s Punky Brewster revival needed to get back in touch with the rainbow-tinted-sunshine kind of girl she used to be.
That’s because this Punky (reprised by Soleil Moon Frye) is all grown up as a divorced mother of three who put so much into her marriage to onetime husband Travis (Freddie Prinze Jr.) that she lost touch with the playfulness that made her so gosh darn winsome. This pandemic has people everywhere in a funk. But as vaccinations are rolled out and hope looms on the horizon, is a trailer-touting “funky Punky” the nostalgic lift that frazzled parents, sentimental fans, and a new wave of younger viewers need? Peacock certainly seems to think so.
The 10-part “Punky Brewster” revival dropped Feb. 25 on the streaming service, which has already seen early success in the nostalgia department with its “Saved By the Bell” reimagining. However while the latter project, which was recently renewed for a second season, leans heavily on new characters and offers only glimpses of beloved figures past, “Punky Brewster” remains all about its protagonist. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Soleil Moon Frye has always had the ability to capture audiences, with her real-life optimism spilling over into the character she first popularized when she was eight years old. That Pollyanna outlook remains an...

If George Costanza was looking for one more reason to get a Peacock subscription, he just found it. The streamer is developing a live-action competition show based on Frogger, the classic arcade game about a frog that just wants to cross the street without getting run over. (Relatable!)
The game show will feature 12 obstacle courses, also known as “crossings,” which will require contestants to “dodge treacherous traffic, leap over snapping gators and hop over hungry hippos.” According to the official release, contestants will need “skill, strength, strategy and problem-solving smarts” as they compete to become “America’s finest Frogger.” Peacock has ordered 13 hour-long episodes.

Margaux’s catchphrase “peasants!” never quite took off on Punky Brewster, but that didn’t stop her from being a part of the title character’s ragtag gang of pals. And now fans of the original will be happy to learn — via the exclusive Season 1 sneak peek photo above — that Ami Foster will reprise her role as Margaux in a guest-starring turn.
All grown up like her good friends Punky (star Soleil Moon Frye) and Cherie (Cherie Johnson), Margaux is now a high-powered owner of a PR firm in the sitcom’s 10-episode revival, which premieres Thursday, Feb. 25, on Peacock.

The Good Doctor is down one of its most beloved cast members ahead of its fourth season.
The Good Doctor Season 3 Episode 20 found Nicholas Gonzalez being written out of the series as his character, Dr. Neil Melendez died of septic shock after sustaining injuries during an earthquake.
Despite the character saying goodbye Dr Claire Brown (Antonia Thomas), Dr Lim (Christina Chang) and Dr Glassman (Richard Schiff), Gonzalez thinks his character had more story left to tell.
"Part of me is sad to see a character I respected a lot go, someone I felt that still had a lot more to say but there wasn't always that opportunity, and I feel like we really built a beautiful world around that character, as much as can be in a show like ours where we're still a procedural as well," he told Entertainment Weekly.

The Good Doctor will never be the same again.
The Good Doctor Season 3 Episode 20 -- the third season finale -- said goodbye to an original series regular, but another cast member is bowing out.
You are entering a land filled with spoilers if you scroll down, The Good Doctor Fanatics.
If you watch The Good Doctor online, you already know that Nicholas Gonzalez said goodbye as Neil Melendez during the season finale.
Despite surviving the brewery collapse, he passed away after saying goodbye to those closest to him in one of the most emotional scenes to date.
We knew heading into the episode that a character would not make it out alive, but sometimes shows hype these deaths up, only for them to be an unimportant character.
Melendez being written out will change the fabric of the entire series, primarily because he was so inertwined in some of the biggest plots.

The Good Doctor fans are passionate about the Carly/Shaun/Lea love triangle.
We recently had the opportunity to catch up with Jasika Nicole (Carly) and get her take on Carly and Shaun's relationship, the evolution of her character, and all other things The Good Doctor.
Check out her thoughts below.
What attracted you to the role of Carly?
Well, the fact that I booked it.
Carly was initially a small guest star role, so there wasn’t much to be attracted to. The breakdown just said she was a cute girl who worked in pathology.
Her role wasn’t really expanded until the end of The Good Doctor Season 2.
What were your thoughts about who Carly was when you first started playing her?
She was initially used to show Shaun’s character interacting with someone else in the hospital but she wasn’t well developed when I first started playing her.
