Fox will retain a large package of Big East games, but it will be joined by NBC Sports and TNT Sports according to a new report.
The dust still hasn’t completely settled over who will be the NBA’s next broadcasting partners, but while observers wait for that news to drop, Warner Bros. Discovery and NBC are continuing to make live sports deals. Those two companies have been in hot pursuit of NBA rights, as NBC appears poised to steal the package currently owned by TNT Sports starting in 2025. However, The Athletic reports that the two companies will both be partnering with a different sports entity this season: The Big East conference. The report says that NBC and Wbd are both nearing deals to acquire packages of Big East basketball beginning in 2024, and will be splitting the conference’s rights with Fox and CBS.

There’s no news when we say that the whole world is literally obsessed with some American sitcoms, like Friends, The Office, Parks and Rec, and many more. These shows are on almost everybody’s rewatch: all of us just choose a number 1 series and turn them into a comfort show we watch on every occasion.
However, after Schitt's Creek just arrived, it was clear that Canadian TV has a lot to offer as well. The show is so hilarious and well-written it makes you wonder what else there is in the national store.
So here we have 5 best Canadian sitcoms to check out after you are done (for a while) with Schitt's Creek.
1. Trailer Park Boys (2001-2018)
Well, we couldn't start with anything less iconic, so the choice for the first series in the list was pretty obvious. Trailer Park Boys is a follow-up show that was created after...

If a mid-life crisis happens in one’s fifties, what is a crisis in your thirties called? Perhaps it’s just permanent adolescence. “Adult Best Friends” mines its comedy from the friction caused when one of a pair of best friends moves into adulthood and gets married, while the other remains stuck. Doing double duty as the film’s screenwriters and stars, Katie Corwin and Delaney Buffett craft a believable friendship for their lead characters (also called Katie and Delaney) and write some decent dialogue about why people would or would not marry. Something is missing, however — the film ends up being more dull than hilarious.
Katie and Delaney have been friends since they met at a sleepover in their pre-teens. When Katie’s sweet boyfriend John (Mason Gooding) proposes, she finds it hard to tell her pal. Delaney — who hasn’t ever liked any of Katie’s boyfriends — parties hard,...

Legacy U.S. shows such as The Office and Friends remain popular in Asia, but interest in American content is on the wane in the region, a new study shows.
Media Partners Asia (MPA)’s latest report show U.S. content maintained a lead among SVOD users, with 60% viewing it in Q1 of 2024, ahead of Korean titles (56%) and Japanese originals (48%). However, the figure for U.S. content was 70% two years ago in the same period, highlighting how local content, especially in Korea and Japan, are driving viewing.
Notably, in Korea, engagement with U.S. content was just 9%. In Japan, it was 11%. Conversely, engagement was up at 69% in English-speaking Australia and relatively strong in Southeast Asia (32%). Despite the low engagement, MPA Lead Analyst Dhivya T said that “even in highly local markets such as Korea, Japan and Indonesia, U.S. content drove 15-30% of SVOD customer acquisition.”

Study: U.S. Films, Series Remain Most Powerful Content Category for Global Streamers in Asia Pacific
Even in challenged times, no national entertainment industry can flex quite like Hollywood. According to new research from regional advisory group Media Partners Asia, U.S. films and series remain the most important content category for global streamers when it comes to customer acquisition and engagement across the Asia Pacific region — regardless of the way platforms continue to ramp up their local-language offerings in these territories.
In the first quarter of 2024, U.S. content was viewed by 60 percent of subscription video users in nine major markets — Australia, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand — outperforming Korean titles (at 56 percent) and Japanese content (48 percent), according to new research from regional analysts Media Partners Asia (MPA). The report’s authors noted, however, that U.S. content’s reach has begun to wane in recent years.

U.S-produced film and TV content has maintained leadership in terms of reach among Subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) users in nine major markets in Asia-Pacific. And it remains important for acquiring and maintaining subscriptions, a new report finds.
New research from consultancy firm Media Partners Asia is based on passively-collected data from 40,000 digital users amassed by its Ampd sister company. Territories covered include Australia, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand, from May 2023 to April 2024.

During a bit of small talk, an anonymous cashier mishears director Andrew McCarthy’s explanation of the project he’s working on: “The Rat Pack?” The Brat Pack, McCarthy corrects. “That sounds familiar,” replies the younger man in the polite tone of someone who has no idea what you’re talking about.
It’s a throwaway moment in the film, but one that gets at the good-natured humility that makes the whole thing tick. The marketable hook of Brats is that it’s a documentary about the (in)famous 1980s young Hollywood cohort, helmed by one of its own. What makes it truly compelling, however, is its willingness to step outside that perspective and reconsider the phenomenon from a broader context with the wisdom of age.

Central Perk isn’t reopening its doors any time soon. At the Banff World Media Festival on Monday, Warner Bros. TV Group chairman Channing Dungey explained why a Friends reboot still remains highly unlikely even as Hollywood continues to lean into established I.P.
“I think it would be very difficult to do another Friends and call it Friends,” Dungey said. “There have been so many shows that have been inspired by Friends. That is such an iconic series and is constantly still running, so the idea that you would try to introduce a new Monica, a new Rachel and a new Ross, I don’t think that that would work.”...

It’s probably not the right time for a new version of “The West Wing,” but never say never, Warner Bros. TV Group chairman Channing Dungey told an audience on Monday at the Banff World Media Festival. “Perhaps there would be a point in the future when you might want to try to do that,” Dungey said of a new take on “West Wing.”
Dungey said a “Friends” reboot is still unlikely. “I think it would be very difficult to do another ‘Friends’ and call it ‘Friends,'” she said. “There have been so many shows that have been inspired by ‘Friends.’ That is such an iconic series and is constantly still running, so the idea that you would try to introduce a new Monica, a new Rachel and a new Ross, I don’t think that that would work.”

Warner Bros. Television Group chairman and CEO Channing Dungey says the era of a 600-show universe wasn’t good for TV viewers.
“The truth of the matter is Peak TV wasn’t really great for the business when you have 600 shows being made,” Dungey told the Banff World Media Festival while giving a Summit Series keynote address. Her comments on Peak TV’s downslope came as the industry grapples with escalating content costs and an industry contraction.
“I don’t mean to make light of the fact that as those numbers (600 shows) come down, you do have fewer people as jobs are harder to come by,” Dungey argued. But she added TV viewers couldn’t make sense of Peak TV amid its bounty.
“There’s no possible way that you can keep up with all of that, that you can see all of it and that lack of critical mass is frustrating and disappointing,...

Launched back in 2003, CBS long-standing police procedural giant NCIS never really followed most of the popular shows’ suit by casting big Hollywood stars, but rather picked some actors relatively unknown at the time and then brought them all to international fame.
However, the future franchise once almost stepped away from its path when the crew seriously considered offering a major role to an actress who by 2003 already blew everyone away with her part in another big series of the 2000s.
Talking about NCIS creation history a while ago, the show’s team briefly addressed that big rumor about Jennifer Aniston’s interest in landing one of the big roles. Still filming Friends at that time, Aniston was nonetheless considered for Caitlin Todd’s role, which eventually went to Sasha Alexander.
According to NCIS executive producer Charles Floyd Johnson, “Jennifer Aniston was available at the time, and her name was floated.

Courteney Cox Re-Creates Dance From Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark” Video for TikTok Trend
Courteney Cox re-created her “Dancing in the Dark” dance for a TikTok trend.
In recent weeks, TikTokers have taken to asking their moms how they danced in the 1980s and posting videos, many of which are backed by the 1984 song “Smalltown Boy,” by Bronski Beat.
Cox, of course, famously got her start by appearing in the 1984 video for Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark.” (She had only appeared in an episode of As the World Turns prior to being cast in his video.)
On TikTok, she poked fun at her dancing in the 1984 video while also participating in one of the latest trends. Cox took to the social media platform to share a video — captioned “1980’s dancing…in the dark” — with herself dancing to “Smalltown Boy.” Over the video are the words, “Asking my mom how she danced in the 80’s.”

A decade before Monica Geller came into our living rooms, Courteney Cox was just Bruce Springsteen’s biggest fan.
The Friends alum threw it back to her appearance in Bruce Springsteen’s 1984 music video for ‘Dancing in the Dark’ as she jumped on a TikTok trend that asks parents how they danced during the decade.
“1980’s dancing…in the dark,” Cox captioned the video.
In the clip, also posted to Cox’s Instagram page, she begins dancing to the 1984 synth-pop hit ‘Smalltown Boy’ by Bronski Beat, which is commonly used with the social trend.
Looking uncomfortable during her dance, Cox then strips off her hoodie to reveal the same Springsteen t-shirt she wore in the “Dancing in the Dark” video as the track changes and she recreates her dance.

Every show has a bunch of iconic relationships that actually turn into the best storylines which people follow with all their attention. And those relationships are not always romantic: friendships are also a popular thing in many shows.
And while there are plenty of series that have female friendship as a central plot, like, for example, Sex and the City or Desperate Housewives, male friendship is rarely put on the pedestal.
However, it doesn’t mean bromance doesn’t exist, so here we have 5 shows that highlight close relationships between guys.
1. Friends: Joey and Chandler
There’s no way we would have started the list with another couple. While Friends is literally the show about six of them, it was clear from the beginning that these two guys share a special bond.
The series even has several episodes which revolve around their friendship, like the one with bro bracelets...

Donald Trump reveals in the upcoming book “Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass,” written by Variety’s co-editor in chief Ramin Setoodeh, that he asked for a salary of $6 million per episode to host “The Apprentice” Season 2. An excerpt from the book published by Vanity Fair recounts how Trump wanted a significant salary boost for the second season of his NBC reality competition series. He made $25,000 per episode during the show’s first season.
As Trump recalls, NBC was “really in the basement” at the time of his contract negotiations for “The Apprentice” Season 2 because the network’s biggest hit, “Friends,” was on its way out after 10 seasons. “Friends” always earned more viewers than “The Apprentice” when airing a new episode, but “The Apprentice” would earn more when going up against “Friends” re-runs. It appears Trump latched onto the latter statistic...

Without a doubt, David Crane and Marta Kauffman made the right call back in 1994: they booked the name Friends and created the most iconic sitcom about a friend group ever. The overwhelming popularity of their series that launched quite a few careers led to numerous other shows feasting on the same general concept: following a group of friends in their twenties through their successes and downfalls.
But admittedly, only one other sitcom got it right, adding its own twist to the Friends formula and creating a story just as compelling — and almost as long.
Finding True Love Is No Easy Task
New York hosts millions of people, and all those people are busy with their jobs, hobbies, and established social circles. In such a dense yet detached environment, finding the one and only seems nearly impossible… But those who succeed, can tell the most interesting and convoluted stories about their previous failed attempts.

Whether it’s How I Met Your Mother, Law & Order, or Gilmore Girls, everyone seems to have a comfort show. Like that one snack that always sounds good, it’s a show you know you can count on time and time again. You never really get tired of watching it, and you just feel better after indulging in an episode. But what exactly defines a comfort watch? What does a comfort show even look like in today’s streaming-dominant world?
I can understand why many people immediately associate “comfort watch” exclusively with the likes of Friends and The Office. Sitcoms like this not only provide familiarity, but also simplicity. It’s nice to imagine a world where conflicts miraculously get resolved in 30 minutes or less, there’s hardly any real, lasting consequences, and everyone sits down for a nice dinner together at the end.

Tonight marked the first time Jon Stewart returned to The Daily Show since Donald Trump was found guilty on 34 felony counts, and the host went after the media, Trump and President Joe Biden.
Stewart roasted Fox News’ Laura Ingraham for calling the justice system a “banana republic.”
The comedian went on to call out South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott for claiming on CNN that the justice system “hunts Republicans while protecting Democrats” on the very same day Hunter Biden faced jury selection for federal gun charges.
He joked that the hosts of Fox & Friends were “using pillows to cover their boners” at that news.
After that show’s correspondents didn’t correct Trump for claiming he never said “lock her up” about former presidential opponent Hillary Clinton, Stewart put them on blast, referencing Fox News’ recent $747 million settlement over repeated false election claims.

Do you sometimes feel as though it just hasn't been your day, your week, your month -- or even your year?
