- TriviaThe "Divine Language" spoken by Leeloo was invented by co-writer and director Luc Besson, and further refined by Milla Jovovich, who had little trouble learning and developing it, as she was already fluent in four languages. The language had only 400 words. He and Milla Jovovich held conversations and wrote letters to each other in the language as practice. By the end of filming, they were able to have full conversations in this language.
- GoofsGeneral Munro reads off a list of reasons why Korben should take the mission; the last being that he's the only member of his unit still alive. Finger calls Korben "commander", but that only proves that Finger knew Korben's status - not that he was a fighting member of the unit. It's more reasonable to guess that Finger was a mechanic or other motor-pool or supply person, than to think the General goofed.
- Quotes
Korben Dallas: [Leans down and kisses Leeloo. Leeloo swipes his gun and holds it to his head]
Korben Dallas: You're right, you're right, I shouldn't have done that. I'm sorry.
Leeloo: Senno ecto gammat!
Korben Dallas: I'm sorry, I'm sorry!
Leeloo: ecto gammat!
Korben Dallas: [In a later scene] When she woke up, she said a bunch a stuff. I didn't understand any of it but... what does 'ecto gammat' mean?
Priest Vito Cornelius: Uh... never again, without my permission.
Korben Dallas: That's what I thought.
- Alternate versionsIn the theatrical release, Korben Dallas initially opens his door after hearing the door chime. He looks into the monitor, sees the empty hallway, opens the door, and then almost gets mugged. This scene was edited for the ABC presentation.
- ConnectionsEdited into 5 Second Movies: Fifth Element (2008)
Recently, the movie was playing at one of our favorite theaters for it's anniversary. I was blown away.
This movie is such a great adventure, a visual feast, and just alot of fun. I love all the characters and the action holds up. They don't really make movies like this anymore. It's a weird one and I love that about it. On the big screen I really felt like I finally experienced this movie the way it was meant to be seen.
This movie rocks, check it out!
