JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT is attending a shower for a new bride-to-be when a vengeful woman in a wedding gown wrecks havoc on the party. The woman, it turns out, died on her wedding day in a car accident while her husband survived. She's jealous that he's about to marry another woman.
That's the nub of this one, which gets a little hysterical at times--as well as overdone with the woman popping up every few minutes to annoy the prospective bride and Melinda (Jennifer Love Hewitt). It's one of the less credible entries in this series, almost laughable with its melodramatic overtones. Nevertheless, it's very entertaining.
Things begin to heat up when both prospective bride and bridegroom are disturbed by the spirit's vengeful antics. "Does he really think he can forget me that easily?" the ghost bride says.
"I'm trying to help," says Melinda.
"I can't have you interfering any more," the ghost says.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"Trust me, you don't want to find out."
And so it goes. The suspense is now focused on Melinda and how she'll deal with the threats from the spirit. Toward the end, explanations make all of the character motivations clearer.
Entertaining, but a bit absurd in places.
