Good comedy, An even better cause.
Hosted by Jon Stewart of the Daily Show, this special brought together quite an eclectic mix of celebrities; Some known for their comedy, others just.. well.. known. The one thing they all had in common was their willingness to put aside their time to help raise money for people living with autism.
What this special lacked in comedy it more than made up for with an underlying sense of honest concern for the cause. At times it did seem to be a little disorganized and some moments that you knew were supposed to be funny just weren't, but given the impromptu format I think they did a great job with what they had available. (It's hard to rehearse something when you aren't even completely sure which celeb's will actually end up attending)
Jon Stewart did a great job recovering the event from any hiccups that came his way, and amidst the comedy he succeeded in not letting the audience attention waver too far from the issue of autism. I laughed out loud several times and ended up making a contribution via comedy central's website, so I have to conclude the event was a success.
