Some time ago, rumors spread about Marvel Studios developing the ‘Midnight Sons’ project, reportedly linked to the upcoming ‘Blade’ reboot.
Despite no official confirmation from the studio, there has been ample news surrounding the project.
The latest news, as reported by NexusPoint News, reveals that Michael Green has been hired to write the script for the upcoming supernatural movie set in the MCU.
Green is recognized in the comic book adaptations community for his work on ‘Smallville’ (21 episodes) and ‘Green Lantern.’ He also co-wrote ‘Logan,’ which is highly regarded as one of the best superhero movies ever made.
Green’s involvement in the rumored ‘Midnight Sons’ project isn’t surprising, given his role in writing the troubled ‘Blade’ reboot. The natural link between Blade and Midnight Sons, along with rumors suggesting that Blade will lead into the latter, makes Green a fitting choice.
Recently, rumors surfaced about the potential team members.

The sun may be setting on the Marvel empire but the tired old franchise might yet have a few tricks up its sleeves. Refusing to go down without a bang, the MCU has started to collect the debt from its past (and a few from the future). As a result, it’s finally time for Midnight Sons, the highly anticipated project to come to fruition after years of unfulfilled expectations and a grueling cinematic experience.

After scarring people’s memories with movies like Thor: Love and Thunder and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the MCU seems to have shifted its gears back to neutral instead of driving in reverse. With Midnight Sons, the franchise can begin to heal its past mistakes and start anew.

Marvel recruited Mahershala Ali a while back to play the hero Blade in an upcoming film. And at the time, the original Blade Wesley Snipes had some words of wisdom for his successor.
Wesley Snipes’ advice to Mahershala Ali for Blade Wesley Snipes | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Snipes already knows what it takes to play Blade. The actor portrayed the action hero for three films in his younger years. Which allowed him to display some of his skills as a martial artist. Because of this, Snipes wanted to let Ali know that being Blade required tremendous physical commitment to do the role justice.
“Make sure you’re in shape,” Snipes once said according to Games Radar. “Try not to get hurt… The demands of an action movie is you’ve gotta be an elite athlete, and being well-conditioned to survive and to avoid injury.”
Snipes already kept himself in top condition even before he was Blade.

Marvel Studios may have taken a big step forward in the development of its planned Midnight Sons movie, as a new rumor is claiming that the project has enlisted a writer.
According to Nexus Point News - who previously broke some significant scoops as DCULeaks - Michael Green has been hired to pen the script.
Green wrote the original script for the long-awaited Blade reboot, and has also worked on the likes of Netflix's Blue Eye Samurai, Kenneth Branagh’s Hercule Poirot trilogy, Blade Runner 2049 and Logan.
While Green would almost certainly be a popular pick, it's important to keep in mind that a Midnight Sons movie has yet to be officially announced - although we'd say Marvel Studios assembling their supernatural characters for a team-up at some point is inevitable.

Phantom Blade Zero‘s first announcement a year ago at ChinaJoy 2023 got people intrigued by how S-Game would treat a proper console release. The previous game from the studio is a side-scrolling Arpg with a very eye-catching art style.
So, when gamers saw a third-person action-adventure title coming to the latest consoles, curiosity was understandably piqued. We now have seen some substantial gameplay that featured a fair bit of combat, and a recent interview has revealed the combat in the game is inspired by an iconic piece of Japanese media.

In the past 20 years, cinema has been crowded by the world of superheroes. Though superhero films like Batman or Spider-Man existed before, Kevin Feige‘s expansion of the MCU kicked off the genre that’s still alive today. Marvel has made 71 movies. This includes films like The Punisher, Blade, and of course, everything in the current MCU. There are at least 30 DC films. It can be hard to start a new franchise. Oftentimes, the origin story of a superhero film can be the weakest part of the series. However, films like The Batman or Black Panther prove that the...

In addition to having a full film schedule, Marvel seems to have decided to give animation top priority in 2024. For example, created by Beau DeMayo, the beloved 90s program X-Men: The Animated Series made a comeback on Disney+ as X-Men ‘97. Along with Wolverine, Storm, Beast, and Rogue, the mute shapeshifter Morph also plays a substantial part in the show’s plot.
The Season 1 finale has prompted a number of questions in the wake of the show’s epic conclusion. One of the most burning questions, regarding a potential romantic interest between Morph and Wolverine, was recently addressed by the writer & former showrunner of the series. Taking to X, Beau DeMayo has set the record straight on Wolverine and Morph’s relationship in a way that’s bound to ruffle the feathers of plastic fans who resist change.

Denzel Washington is one of the most prolific actors who changed the way African American characters were portrayed in mainstream cinema. The actor has starred in landmark films such as Training Day, Glory, Philadelphia, Malcolm X, and Cry Freedom. He has also been nominated for the Oscars multiple times and has won the award twice.
Washington was reportedly always interested in playing Black Panther in a film adaptation. While the actor became too old to play the iconic superhero by the time the character made his cinematic debut with Chadwick Boseman’s portrayal, Washington reportedly had his eyes on another superhero. Denzel Washington once mentioned how he wanted to play Green Lantern.

Ah, the 1990s. Perhaps the peak of the moviegoing experience. Theaters consistently showed classics such as the special effects marvel "Jurassic Park," "The Shawshank Redemption," "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," "Pulp Fiction," "Fargo," and "Titanic." The decade also featured an abundance of outstanding horror films like "The Sixth Sense," "Scream," "Misery," and "Interview with the Vampire," all boasting big-name stars and top-tier directors.
However, playing at the opposite end of the cineplex were thrillers you may have never heard about or skipped simply due to bad reviews or scathing word of mouth. Some of Hollywood's top talent attached themselves to such projects, thwarted by ornery critics or moviegoers seeking higher-end entertainment. That's a shame.
While there are undoubtedly plenty of terrible horror films from the 90s, the decade was also ripe with lower-tier entries that have aged surprisingly well. Many don't reset the bar established by esteemed pictures like "The Silence of the Lambs,...

It kicks off with The Fantastic Four, hitting theaters in July 2025. It will then feature highly sought after movies like Blade (2025), followed by Avengers 5 (2026), and the grand finale, Avengers: Secret Wars (2027).

Rumors of a ‘Blade’ franchise reboot and its integration into the MCU surfaced as early as 2016, following the studio’s reclamation of the character rights in 2011. Kevin Feige was among the first to acknowledge the potential for a project centered around the vampire slayer, whether in the form of a live-action TV series or a film.
Mahershala Ali’s interest in portraying Blade became evident when he approached the studio with a ready script. Despite the project being greenlit, it entered a prolonged development phase, spanning nine years. Details regarding the plot and production remained scarce, with recent speculation suggesting a rewrite, spearheaded by writer Michael Green.
Originally slated for a 2023 release, the movie faced numerous delays, pushing its debut to November 2025. Reports indicate that Ali nearly withdrew from the project due to the extensive effort required to properly bring the iconic character into the MCU fold.

The rumors that ‘Blade’ franchise will be rebooted and the titular vampire slayer will be introduced to the MCU started back in 2016. Despite the studio regaining rights to the character in 2011, Feige was the first one to point out that there is some interest in developing a project around him, be it a live-action TV series or a movie.
Then we learned that Mahershala Ali approached the studio, he wanted to play Blade and he had the script ready. The project was greenlit but this is when the development hell began and for the last 9 years little is known about the plot of the movie and its details, however recent rumors point in the direction of it being rewritten once again, with Michael Green hired as a writer.

Marvel has several upcoming projects slated for release in the coming years. Many of these projects have been stuck in limbo due to the historic SAG-AFTRA strike, causing delays and cancellations throughout the industry. One highly anticipated project facing pre-strike issues is ‘Blade,’ an McU-based film featuring Eric Brooks, a renowned vampire hunter. This reboot of the popular ‘Blade’ trilogy, which played a significant role in shaping the MCU, has experienced setbacks.
While details about the ‘Blade’ movie are scarce, it’s known that Mahershala Ali initiated the project and will portray the titular character. Initially scheduled for a 2023 release, the movie’s debut has been pushed to 2025 due to Ali’s dissatisfaction with the script.
Director Yann Demange recently confirmed that the film will receive an R-rating, making it the second MCU movie to do so after ‘Deadpool 3.’ This rating is deemed necessary for the movie’s authenticity.

Following the fallout of Jonathan Majors’ conviction, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is getting a new title.
In December last year, Jonathan Majors was convicted on harrassement and assault charges. The state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is in the scheme of things the least important thing to be considering, but a few months hence and Marvel appear to be making some headway with its future plans.
Marvel fired Majors just hours after the conviction and is currently in the process of rewriting all films in which Majors was set to appear as the MCU’s next major villain Kang. It appears the plan for Kang now is that all future scripts “will now either minimise the character or excise him entirely”.
In other Marvel news, its “creative retooling”, as it’s calling it, is in full swing. It aims to give showrunners more creative control over future television shows, after...

Nic Pizzolatto got his career as a storyteller started by writing short stories and a novel called Galveston, then made his move into television by writing a couple episodes of the first season of the AMC series The Killing. He wasn’t pleased with that experience, telling Nola.com that, “I want to be the guiding vision. I don’t do well serving someone else’s vision.” So he left The Killing as it headed into season 2 and went off to create his own show: True Detective, which found a home at HBO. Pizzolatto’s deal with HBO was renewed twice over the years as he crafted three seasons of True Detective, with his final deal with the network earning him $3 million a year. He was going to work on the network’s Perry Mason reboot, but had to let it go so he could focus on True Detective. Once True Detective season 3 wrapped up,...

“Can’t blame me.” Those are the words of Nic Pizzolatto, the creator of True Detective, in response to a post on social media criticizing season four of the HBO anthology, the first cycle in which he has had no direct involvement. That tweet, as well as reposts of messages by the viewers critical of the new season, raises the question of what the show’s original creator has been up to since he left the series.
To refresh: The 2014 season one of True Detective, starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as Louisiana detectives tracking a serial killer, was a breakout hit for HBO, earning a Rotten Tomatoes score of 91 among critics and an 88 audience score. The freshman run went on to collect a franchise-high 12 Emmy nominations, helping Pizzolatto skyrocket to fame.

Just five years ago, Marvel Studios appeared to be unstoppable. As The Hollywood Reporter puts it in a new write-up, they “had steadily been generating box office gold” with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the studio’s “Infinity Saga” culminating, after eleven years of build-up, with the release of Avengers: Endgame – a film that became the highest-grossing movie of all time (for a while). But then Disney asked Marvel to “scale up in an unprecedented way”, expanding into TV series and animation, “with the goal of the MCU becoming a place with a seemingly endless procession of year-round releases.” Now Disney and Marvel have had to admit that the task was too unwieldy to sustain. Not only have fans complained about a decline in quality in the last couple years, but Marvel projects have also started underperforming. Things got rough in 2023, with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania turning out to...

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home created an illustrious box-office and critical marvel with mind-bending surprises and cameos. Sony was far from waiting too long for another sequel to the $1.9 billion movie.

However, fans may not witness the same bang as Spider-Man: No Way Home created on-screen, Spider-Man 4 is reportedly a mess even before production. Of course, two separate studios collaborating on a project will not always end up in a smooth operation, and the Holland-starrer movie could be the latest victim of it.

When James Gunn took over as the head of DC, many fans questioned his decision to completely revamp the franchise with some rather controversial moves. This included Henry Cavill’s exit as Superman with other prominent stars like Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot also ending their association with the franchise. Along with these significant changes, Gunn also introduced an array of projects including Superman: Legacy.

Despite the MCU being the biggest and most popular superhero cinema outlet in the world today, Prime Video’s The Boys managed to create an almost cult-like following for itself in a matter of a few episodes. What’s happening in the world of Marvel’s “Blade”? More and more delays, apparently. Announced at Comic-Con 2019, Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali was reportedly the one that sparked Marvel’s interest in the project, approaching the studio that they needed a new version of the Wesley Snipes starring classic for the MCU, and they agreed. “Blade” was announced five years ago but is heading to what sounds like its third or fourth delay, depending on who’s counting.

The Oscar-frontrunning “Maestro” was the big winner at the 11th annual Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards (held February 18 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel). Bradley Cooper’s Leonard Bernstein opus took period/character makeup and special makeup effects. This puts “Maestro” in the Oscar driver’s seat (led by two-time winner Kazu Hiro) against “Poor Things,” “Oppenheimer,” “Golda,” and “Society of the Snow.”
Two non-Oscar competitors, “Saltburn”and “Barbie,” split the other wins: Emerald Fennell’s psychological thriller grabbed both contemporary makeup and hairstyling, while Greta Gerwig’s billion-dollar blockbuster snagged period/character hairstyling.
TV winners, meanwhile, were divided among “The Idol” (contemporary makeup), “The Crown” (period/character makeup), “The Last of Us” (special makeup effects), “The Morning Show” (contemporary hairstyling), and “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” (period/character hairstyling).

Developer Shift Up’s Stellar Blade (formerly known as Project Eve) isn’t scheduled to be released until April 26, but the PlayStation 5 exclusive is quickly shaping up to be one of 2024’s most divisive games.
This rather odd story gained momentum a couple of weeks ago when Stellar Blade’s developers released a gameplay overview of the upcoming action title during a State of Play event. Though seemingly a pretty standard trailer released during a fairly uneventful presentation, the reactions to that video made it clear that quite a few people quickly became infatuated with the lead character’s highly sexualized design.
Unless this is your first day on the internet, you’re probably not going to be surprised to hear that gamers are leaving…enthusiastic comments about a highly sexualized female character. For that matter, this is hardly the first time that such a game has featured a stylized...

Marvel Studios has numerous projects in development, and ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is a particularly anticipated soft reboot, bringing back familiar faces from the original show. Despite the excitement surrounding ‘Born Again,’ the show faced challenges, including the impact of the historic SAG-AFTRA strike, leading to creative differences between the studio and the writers.
In late September 2023, Marvel Studios decided to revamp the first season after filming less than half of its episodes, replacing head writers Corman and Ord, along with the initial directors, to realign with the tone of the Netflix series. New showrunner Dario Scardapane, associated with Netflix’s Daredevil spin-off ‘The Punisher,’ was appointed, accompanied by directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead from Marvel Studios’ ‘Moon Knight’ and the second season of ‘Loki.’
The exact episode count for the overhauled season remains uncertain, but reports suggest that filming is set to resume in January to complete the remaining episodes.

Marvel Studios has plenty of projects currently in development or rumored to be in development. One of the most hyped-up projects, however, is ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ a soft reboot of an existing show with plenty of old and beloved faces returning to the screens.
Despite ‘Born Again’ being highly awaited, the development of the show was not without problems. Like most projects, it was also affected by the historic SAG-AFTRA strike, and, at some point, the creative differences between what the studio wanted and what the writers delivered grew to be too big, and ‘Daredevil’ was once again in development.

One of my favorite comic book story arcs is the “Rise of the Midnight Sons”, which saw Doctor Strange overseeing the formation of a team of supernatural heroes – Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze, Morbius, the Nightstalkers, and Darkhold characters Vicki Montesi, Louise Hastings, and Sam Buchanan – who were brought together to battle Lilith, the Mother of All Demons, and her evil offspring, the Lilin. There have been different variations of the Midnight Sons over the years, with other team members like Daimon Hellstrom, Jennifer Kale, Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, The Hood, Doctor Voodoo, Elsa Bloodstone, Moon Knight, Iron Fist, Scarlet Spider, Kushala, Magik, Wolverine, and Nico Minoru coming and going. The latest version of the team was even called the Midnight Suns rather than Sons. Now Cosmic Circus has shared the Rumor that a version of the Midnight Sons might be coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Until recently, the majority of MCU content was either PG-13 or TV-14 rated, ensuring a family-friendly appeal. However, this trend shifted with the announcement that the upcoming ‘Deadpool 3’ sequel would maintain its R rating, acknowledging the challenge of toning down the character’s signature gore and humor for a PG-13 audience.
The next R-rated project in line is ‘Echo,’ scheduled for release in January 2024. As the first under the Marvel Spotlight banner, the show focuses on character development, making prior MCU knowledge unnecessary. The showrunners have indicated that while ‘Echo’ explores family themes, it will also feature intense violence, evident from the trailers.
Following this, ‘Blade’ director Yann Demange confirmed that the upcoming reboot would also carry an R rating. The majority of MCU was, at least until now, either PG-13 or TV-14 rated, meaning that most of the movies and shows produced were family-friendly. This started to change when it was announced that the upcoming ‘Deadpool 3’ sequel would keep its R rating, as it seems impossible to make a PG-13 Deadpool movie without a lot of gore and inappropriate humor.
The next project to be R-rated is ‘Echo,’ releasing in January 2024; the show will be the first to fall under the Marvel Spotlight banner, meaning that it’s going to be character-oriented, and previous knowledge of the MCU is not necessary to watch it. The showrunners also “warned” that Maya’s story won’t be the one of redemption, yes it will have family themes but it’s also going to be very violent, something that can be seen from the trailers as well.
Then, a few weeks after that,...

Don’t be surprised if top Hollywood studio executives and theater owners aren’t feeling the Christmas spirit this year. They’re bracing for a tumultuous 2024 ride at the domestic box office after a slew of high-profile tentpoles were pushed to 2025 because of the lengthy writers and actors strikes.
In a major blow to the post-pandemic recovery effort, domestic box office revenue in 2024 is now expected to come in behind that of 2023, a reversal of fortunes no one predicted. If projections are right, domestic box office in 2024 could top out at $7.5 billion to $8 billion, compared to an expected $8.8 billion to $8.9 billion this year, say multiple studio executives who spoke with The Hollywood Reporter (a few are more bullish in thinking $8 billion to $8.5 billion is possible).
The culprit: a sparse release calendar, particularly during the first three months of the year. “It’s a disaster,” says one studio exec regarding the first part of the year.

Marvel Studios has added screenwriter Matthew Orton to the production of “Captain America: Brave New World,” ahead of the superhero sequel’s plans for additional photography sometime in the spring.
The Walt Disney Company announced a series of delays to its theatrical release slate shortly after the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike. Along with “Deadpool 3,” “Thunderbolts” and “Blade,” “Brave New World” was among the group of Marvel productions impacted, moving from a July 26, 2024 date to Feb. 14, 2025. That’s almost seven more months for the studio to work on the fourth “Captain America” film, which had already completed principal photography prior to the actors strike. Reshoots are a commonplace practice for blockbuster tentpoles, particularly Marvel productions.
Orton’s previous credits include the World War II thriller “Operation Finale” and TV work on “Devil’s Peak” and Marvel’s Disney+ series “Moon Knight.” Dalan Musson and Malcolm Spellman have screenplay credits...

Things have gone from bad to worse for Marvel Cinematic Universe, as director Destin Cretton has stepped down from the studio’s next ‘Avengers’ outing, ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty’. Cretton had been attached since last year, with the news announced on the heels of San Diego Comic-Con, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Though stepping down from ‘Kang Dynasty’, Cretton will continue to work at the MCU and is currently producing the ‘Wonder Man’ TV series as well as developing a sequel to his previous film, ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’. According to the news outlet, the director is also speaking with Marvel about additional projects.

“The Fall Guy” is now crash landing in theaters on May 3, 2024, after “Deadpool 3” vacated the release slot amid the work stoppage caused by the recently ended SAG-AFTRA strike.
David Leitch’s action thriller, starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, was originally set to release on March 1, 2024. Based on Glen A. Larson’s 1980s television series of the same name, the film stars Gosling as Colt, a stuntman on the hunt for a missing movie star he once doubled for. Blunt stars as Gosling’s director and ex-girlfriend Jody Moreno, while Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays Awol star Tom Ryder.
Stephanie Hsu (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”), Winston Duke (“Black Panther”), Hannah Waddingham (“Ted Lasso”) and Teresa Palmer (“A Discovery of Witches”) round out the cast.
Disney previously announced that several films have been delayed due to the actors strike, including “Deadpool 3,” Marvel’s “Thunderbolts,” “Mufasa: The Lion King” and its “Blade” reboot.

The anything-but-marvelous performance of The Marvels is a moment of reckoning for Marvel Studios, the production house that has been the superhero of the box office for much of the past 15 years since Iron Man burst onto the scene in 2008.
Over the Nov. 10-12 weekend, The Marvels debuted to $46.1 million in North America, the worst opening in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has raked in more than $30 billion in global movie ticket sales. The 33rd MCU installment was battered by withering audience exit scores and a ho-hum B CinemaScore.
But it wasn’t the first warning sign that something was amiss within Marvel in terms of quality control as Feige’s team went into overdrive producing shows for streaming; features Eternals and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania were also slapped with B CinemaScore, while audiences began complaining about keeping up with an increasing number of shows on...

"Thunderbolts" has become the second Marvel Cinematic Universe feature to halt filming amid the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike, Deadline reported late Thursday. (Variety and The Hollywood Reporter confirmed shortly thereafter.) The film, which was set to enter production in Atlanta, Georgia in about three weeks in June 2023, will now roll cameras after the writers strike has ended.
Earlier in May, the Mahershala Ali-led "Blade" -- currently slated for September 2024 -- became the first Marvel Studios project to hit pause. It was in the pre-production stage, and like "Thunderbolts," was expected to begin filming in June. Marvel has also stopped shooting on "Wonder Man" -- the Disney+ series with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the lead -- which had been running in Los Angeles.
That said, not every Marvel project has been brought to a halt. "Captain America: New World Order" -- the fourth "Captain America" movie, set to...
