Netflix has debuted the first official trailer for Trigger Warning, an upcoming action thriller that stars Jessica Alba (Fantastic Four; Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer; Sin City) in the lead role as a skilled Special Forces commando who takes ownership of her father's bar after he suddenly dies, and soon finds herself at odds with a violent gang running rampant in her hometown.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Alba expressed her excitement and inspiration for making this film. "I loved Die Hard. I loved Star Wars. I loved Lethal Weapon, Beverly Hills Cop, all these movies I grew up with, but I always felt like I wanted to see the women kicking ass instead of always being saved."
In addition to Alba, the supporting cast features Mark Webber, Tone Bell, Jake Weary, Gabriel Basso, Anthony Michael Hall, Kaiwi Lyman, and Hari Dhillon.

Carla Gugino recently told BuzzFeed that her beloved role in Robert Rodriguez’s 2001 family action film “Spy Kids” was “physically totally impossible.” The actor was 27 years old when she filmed the movie and played Ingrid Cortes, the mother of two spies. By Gugino’s math, the character didn’t add up.
“It is so funny because I was 27,” Gugino recounted. “It was a really beautiful kind of double-edged sword because I love that movie so much. And the whole experience was incredible, and the movies continue.”
“I love Ingrid Cortes. But it was funny because I was 10 years, at least, too young for the role because I was a spy for 10 years and then somehow had children who were like 9 and 11,” she continued with a laugh. “So it was physically totally impossible.”

Carla Gugino said she is still trying to figure out how she was cast as a mother of two school-age children at 27 years old in the original Spy Kids movie.
During a recent interview with BuzzFeed, the actress, who played Ingrid Cortes, looked back at her time filming the 2001 movie, alongside Antonio Banderas, Alexa PenaVega and Daryl Sabara. The action-adventure film, directed by Robert Rodriguez, followed a family of spies.

Netflix regularly takes down movies and TV shows because their agreements with content owners expire. Warner Bros. Pictures’ DC movies started appearing on Netflix in phases from December 2023. This move is part of Warner Bros. Discovery’s plan to license more content to other platforms like Netflix.
In 2023, HBO titles became available on Netflix for the first time, with more expected throughout the year. However, these agreements were short-term, lasting only 3-5 months. By the end of March, most DC superhero movies on Netflix will be taken down. Here’s the list of movies leaving the platform:
‘Man of Steel’ (2013) ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ (2016) ‘Suicide Squad’ (2016) ‘Wonder Woman’ (2017) ‘Justice League’ (2017) ‘Shazam!’ (2018) ‘Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)’ (2020) ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ (2020) ‘The Suicide Squad’ (2021) ‘Black Adam’ (2022) ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ (2023) ‘Spy Kids: All the Time in the World’ (2011)

Netflix periodically removes movies and TV shows from its streaming service due to the expiration of licensing agreements with content owners. Warner Bros. Pictures’ DC movies were added to Netflix in waves starting December 2023. This is part of Warner Bros. Discovery’s strategy to license more titles to third-party services like Netflix.
Consequently, 2023 marked the first time HBO titles were available on Netflix, with plans for more throughout the year, but the contract was short-term in nature over a period of 3-5 months, and now by the end of March, most DC superhero movies that remain on the platform will be removed. In 2005 and in 2007, director Tim Story made a pair of feature films starring the Fantastic Four, one of Marvel Comics' most superlative titles. "Fantastic Four," created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, was more or less a family sitcom except the three family members and their best friend all happened to have superpowers. It was light and comedic, while also featuring bloviating, demonstrative supervillains who shouted regularly about the glories of world domination. It was a comic book series that declared itself to be The World's Greatest Comics Magazine!
Story's feature film adaptations were not very well received when they were released. 2005's "Fantastic Four" only bears a 28% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while its sequel, "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," only has a 38% approval rating. Moreso, Marvel Comics fans were harsh to Story's movies, hating their cartoony tone and corny scripts. It's worth acknowledging, however, that Story's...

Robert Rodriguez isn’t against bringing original Spy Kids stars Alexa PenaVega and Daryl Sabara back for another film. But the director says the time between the latest installment, Armageddon, and 2011’s Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World, meant that it was “important to just start the franchise fresh.”
The filmmaker spoke about his decision to launch the latest Spy Kids chapter with a completely new family — and new set of leading child stars — in a new interview with Yahoo Entertainment.
“I wanted to re-establish a new family,” he said of the choice to cast Connor Esterson and Everly Carganilla in the new Netflix film, out Friday. “Because it’d been so long [since 2011’s All the Time in the World], it was important to just start the franchise fresh and then go from there.”

Love is in the air on Netflix in February, from new romcoms like the Reese Witherspoon-starring “Your Place or Mine” to the return of murderous stalker Joe Goldberg in “You” Season 2 part 1.
Penn Badgley has long dispelled any misnomers of his “You” character being a romantic, but Joe himself still believes that’s who he is at his core. After killing his wife and faking his own death, Joe sets off for Europe so he can find Marianne (Tati Gabrielle), the woman he convinced himself he’s in love with before she learned the truth and fled. But breaking old habits has never been easy for old Joe, who quickly gets caught up in a most dubious clique of London high society that has its own struggles with lust, power, and the occasionally fatal crime.

She’s the girl from “Spy Kids: All the Time in the World,” and more importantly, she’s the star of “Girl Meets World,” the “Boy Meets World,” spinoff that we all grew up watching. As we already mentioned, her talent is unparalleled, but there is more to this young actress than just her childhood hits. She’s going to move on to more adult things, more prominent work, and she’s going to be

Rowan Blanchard was about six months into her Vancouver-based shoot for Season 2 of TNT’s dystopian thriller “Snowpiercer” when Covid-19 struck North America.
“We were so close to finishing. They had two episodes left on Season 2 and they immediately sent everyone home,” says Rowan’s mother, Elizabeth Blanchard.
The sudden pivot from working nonstop to a complete shutdown of the biz came as somewhat of an emotional shock to Rowan. At 18, the Los Angeles native is a seasoned actor, having landed her big break in “Spy Kids 4-d: All the Time in the World” before going on to star in the Disney small-screen series “Girl Meets World” and Ava DuVernay’s big-screen adaptation of “A Wrinkle in Time.”
“She’s been working since she was 5, so this has been kind of a weird time for her,” says Elizabeth Blanchard. “But now she’s 18, and suddenly she’s an adult. So...

Robert Rodriguez (Spy Kids) has always found a fascinating balance in directing both B-level action/horror films and hyper-creative family vehicles. According to "The Hollywood Reporter," the multi-talented director will next hop aboard a family-friendly project for Warner Bros., a live-action adaptation of the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon Jonny Quest. Along with directing the film, Rodriguez will rewrite the Dan Mazeau-penned script (a 2008 Black List item) with family adventure staple Terry Rossio (Pirates of the Caribbean). The film will be Rodriguez's first family venture since 2011's Spy Kids: All the Time in the World. The original Jonny Quest ran from 1964 to 1965 and followed Quest, his father Dr. Quest, bodyguard/government agent Race Bannon and Dr. Quest's adopted son Hadji as they globetrotted on various adventures. A Quest film has been in development for quite some time, with a project featuring Zac Efron as Quest and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as...

An unnecessary sequel that’s empty and arduous, little more than vignettes on vengeance and cruel parades of sociopathic power performed as gleefully ultraviolent shadowplays. I’m “biast” (pro): loved the first film
I’m “biast” (con): didn’t see a need for a second
I have not read the source material
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
There’s the nihilism of Sin City. A place where wounded men have to remind themselves to “never let the monster out,” and a woman can “makes slaves of men,” and even “good men” are turned on by a woman’s tale of rape (which she invented, of course, because this is Sin City, where you can’t trust a dame). A place where men are nothing but how they can use their rage and women are nothing but how they can use their bodies.
And that’s none of it nice.

In a summer packed to the gills with big budget comic book films featuring star-spangled Avengers, web-slingers, time traveling mutants and intergalactic ex-cons, it’s understandable that one particular comic book movie has flown a bit under the radar. Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For comes at the tail end of summer, arriving in theaters on August 22nd, and promises much of the same bloody, pulpy, black-and-white grit and mayhem that made the original 2005 film so special. However, you’d be hard pressed to find much buzz about it, making the marketing campaign that much more important.
Today, some new stills have hit the web courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. There’s nothing particularly noteworthy here, but we do get a good look at most of the film’s key players: Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Johnny, Jessica Alba as Nancy Callahan, Mickey Rourke as Marv,...

It’s a good news/bad news report. Unfortunately, the bad news is that NBC has now confirmed that Mockingbird Lane, the Bryan Fuller-written-and-produced re-imagining of The Munsters, will not be produced as a series. The somewhat good news is that we don’t lose everything; the one hour pilot has been refashioned into a special, to air the Friday before Halloween.
Mr. Fuller himself tweeted this upbeat interpretation:

— Bryan Fuller (@BryanFuller) October 11, 2012
It is perhaps a remote possibility that, should the special do well, the series still could become a reality, but that is wild speculation. Here’s the press release, which also details the episode of Grimm that will follow the special, and which will feature a Latin American folk tale:

So much for that Munsters reboot! NBC announced today that Mockingbird Lane, the high-concept update of the ’60s black and white comedy, will run instead as a one-hour Halloween special on Oct. 26.
NBC will pair the pilot with a special episode of Grimm dubbed “La Llorona.” Rather than offer an explanation as to why the project from Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies) was abandoned as a potential series, the network released this statement from Entertainment President Jennifer Salke: “This exciting new take on a memorable series will definitely blow out conventional wisdom and create its own legacy. Teaming this new show...

After reportedly spending $10 million on the pilot for Mockingbird Lane and not being completely happy with it, it has been officially announced that NBC will air the episode as a Halloween TV special later this month:
“As Halloween nears, NBC turns Friday, October 26 into Fright Night when it premieres the pilot of the much-anticipated “Mockingbird Lane” (8-9 p.m. Et) — based on executive producer Bryan Fuller’s (“Pushing Daisies,” “Heroes”) script and directed by executive producer Bryan Singer (“X-Men” film series, “House”)….
“Mockingbird Lane” is a new reimagined version of the classic 1960s comedy “The Munsters,” now as a visually spectacular one-hour drama with a darker edge and tone. The cast includes Jerry O’Connell (“The Defenders”) as Herman Munster, Portia de Rossi (“Arrested Development”) as his wife Lily, Eddie Izzard (“United States of Tara,” “The Riches”) as Grandpa, Mason Cook (‘Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D...

Cinema Today is reporting that some screenings of the hugely successful horror film Sadako 3D will soon be adding a whole new dimension to the movie-going experience which Kadokawa is calling “4D”.
Last September, several theaters in Japan screened Robert Rodriguez’s “Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D” with a few additional “4Dx” features such as specific smells wafting through the theater or vibrations at certain points during the movie. However, Sadako 4D will apparently take things to a whole new level.
In keeping with the suspense/horror theme, moviegoers will have their legs grabbed, large clouds of white smoke will be pumped into the theater, and seats will even be fitted with velcro to bind people’s arms. Also, the theater will suddenly be invaded by a horde of real-life Sadakos who will come out of a large well.
