- TriviaThis episode was Aaron Paul's submission in the Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in the 2013 Emmy Awards- his fourth nomination for the show.
- GoofsWhen Walter used the coffee maker's power cord to burn through the tie-wrap holding his wrist to the radiator, the spike in amperage would have easily tripped the breaker on either the surge protector the power cord was plugged into or the breaker at the main electrical panel. He could not have used the stripped wires as an improvised arc welder to cut his bonds.
- Quotes
Jesse Pinkman: I, uh, I eat a lot of frozen stuff. It's usually pretty bad. I mean, the pictures are always so awesome, you know? It's like, "Hell yeah, I'm stoked for this lasagna!" And then you nuke it, and the cheese gets all scabby on top, and it's like... it's like you're eating a scab... I mean, seriously, what's that about? It's like, yo, what ever happened to truth in advertising?
[chuckles]
Jesse Pinkman: You know?

Anyhow, another building episode, and it's interesting seeing reviews written while the show was brand new, and people not liking these kind of "fillers" that, when you binge the entire thing, it makes more sense (like I did two years after the show was finished, and can never, ever imagine waiting through commercials or in-between entire seasons for the next step)...
Walter has a nice talk with Jesse about Gray Matter, but after that, something happens that happens sporadically, that is, Jesse goes into full idiot mode, like they have him do sometimes, yet always with a purpose... like when he's introduced to Gale (talk about irony), underlining the difference between "classical and jazz" (where he goes from a tough Adam Sandler in HAPPY GILMORE to a borderline mental case in THE WATERBOY)...
Here it's Jesse meeting again with Skylar, who, when last they met, it was technically five seasons/years earlier... and one single year in this show's fictional timeline... but it feels like a lifetime...
And back to the point: Jesse goes bonkers, riffing about the kind of cheese on most frozen meals that are hard, like scabs and, while a funny intentionally awkward dinner scene, he seems beneath a character who has grown so much...
Especially since Jesse's a far smarter person by the final season than his "Cow House" days but... anyhow... this isn't a negative critique, just an observation in another "filler" episode... but what fills BREAKING BAD beats what peaks other shows.
