Pluto (also known as Bruton in the english dub of the 1980's version) Is the secondary antagonist of The World's Strongest Robot arc in the classic manga Astro Boy, and also the titular anti-villain of Naoki Urasawa's Pluto.
Atom, the boy-robot in the series, is the original name for Tezuka's highly influencial Astro Boy character, whom he represents.
The unlicensed doctor who saved the life of Sir Duncan at the risk of his sight is a reference to another Tezuka series, Black Jack, in which the main character is an unlicensed physician who performs unorthodox medical marvels, but often at an unusual cost.
A pivotal scene involves a robot named Brando who engages in a Shakespearean act. After being involved in the elimination of thousands of robots, Brando is seen obsessively trying to clean his hands, a direct reference to Lady Macbeth's famous hand-washing scene. This act symbolizes Brando's struggle with guilt and the indelible impact of his actions, blending Shakespearean tragedy with futuristic elements.
Based on a manga series written and illustrated by Urasawa Naoki. The manga reinterprets the story arc The Greatest Robot on Earth from Tezuka Osamu's manga Tetsuwan Atom.
