It’s always painful to say goodbye to your favorite series, and this pain goes x100 if showrunners manage to maintain the high quality right until the very finale.
Sometimes the last episode of a show can hit you the hardest, much worse than the rest of it.
Here are 5 shows with the most heart-wrenching endings, picked by Reddit.
The Good Place (2016 - 2020) - Whenever You’re Ready
The finale of this fantasy-comedy hit show did it all: it gave closure to all the main characters’ arcs, as well as to the whole story. It didn’t cheat its audience and ended just like it was always supposed to end, leaving the unbearable feeling of the lightness of being behind it. Still, hurts to this day.
Six Feet Under (2001 - 2005) - Everyone's Waiting

Better Call Saul added Rhea Seehorn’s Kim Wexler to the Breaking bad universe as a co-lead and love interest to Saul Goodman. But Seehorn was understandably nervous about entering such a popular franchise. Especially one that had so many successful female actors.

Rhea Seehorn was initially devastated when she learned one particular scene from the season finale of Better Call Saul was cut off. Later on, the actress realized it was for the clarity of the narrative.
Rhea Seehorn in Better Call Saul / AMC
Seehorn recently appeared in Will Smith’s Bad Boys 4, but before that, she was known for her outstanding portrayal of Kim Wexler in the Breaking Bad spinoff. Series co-creator Peter Gould provided an explanation as to why he had to remove that important ending scene.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die is living up to the premise, “Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?” The “they” in this scenario are the U.S. Marshals, led by Judy Howard, who is played by Rhea Seehorn. The fourth film in the action-comedy series is currently enjoying a round of success as it becomes one of the bigger hits of the summer in a year where most large releases are failing to live up to expectations. While the Bad Boys series is usually a show for the duo of Martin Lawrence and Will Smith, this new installment splits the focus on some of the supporting characters — one being Captain Howard’s daughter.
Seehorn is not only riding high by being in one of the summer’s hits, but she also re-teams with Better Call Saul‘s Vince Gilligan for a new untitled AppleTV+ show. The Hollywood Reporter caught...

Kim Wexler continues to pay dividends for Rhea Seehorn. When Bad Boys: Ride or Die directors Adil and Bilall endured an “emotional rollercoaster” in 2022, they found an escape through their binge-watch of Seehorn’s acclaimed series, Better Call Saul. The two Belgian directors became so taken with her performance as Jimmy McGill’s (Bob Odenkirk) romantic partner in crime that they told themselves that they’d find a role for her to play someday. Well, someday came soon, as they then had a general meeting with her regarding Bad Boys: Ride or Die and the role of U.S. Marshal Judy Howard, the daughter of Joe Pantoliano’s beloved Bad Boys character, Captain Conrad Howard.
“Believe me, there was a part of me that was like, ‘Do they know me from anything?’ But I pretty much assume that of anybody; it wasn’t really specific to them. So I think...

When the 2023 Primetime Emmy nominations were revealed, Ali Wong and Pedro Pascal both had the honor of being included in multiple performance lineups. She made history as the first newcomer to the acting categories recognized for both live action (“Beef”) and voice (“Tuca & Bertie”) work, while he became the first actor nominated for three programs on his initial Emmy outing. These achievements made them the newest members of a group of 26 people who earned their first two (or three) acting Emmy nominations in a single year.
Wong’s eventual Best TV Movie/Limited Series Actress win for “Beef” made her the seventh person in this bunch to succeed on one of her bids. The first was Robert Cummings, who received 1955’s Best Single Performance by an Actor prize for “Twelve Angry Men” and simultaneously lost for his regular lead turn on “My Hero.”

Criminal: John Hawkes, Pat Healy, & more join Charlie Hunnam in Prime Video’s Ed Brubaker adaptation
John Hawkes has been one of my favorite character actors since he first came to my attention back in the ’90s with roles in films like Roadracers, Night of the Scarecrow, From Dusk Till Dawn, and I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, so it’s cool to hear (from Deadline) that he’s going directly from a multi-episode role in the latest season of True Detective to landing a recurring role in the Prime Video series adaptation of Criminal, the Eisner Award-winning graphic novel series written by Ed Brubaker and illustrated by Sean Phillips. Hawkes, along with Pat Healy (Better Call Saul), Taylor Selé (Bmf), and Logan Browning (Dear White People), join previously announced cast members Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), Adria Arjona (Hit Man), Richard Jenkins (The Shape of Water), and Kadeem Hardison (A Different World).

In January 2020, Adil and Bilall began to ride high. The Belgian directing duo’s American debut, Bad Boys for Life, set a franchise record with $424 million, becoming the highest grossing domestic film of the pandemic-stricken year. That fall, they joined the MCU’s Ms. Marvel and helmed the first two episodes of Kamala Khan’s coming-of-age superhero series. Led by Iman Vellani, the Disney+ show would eventually garner critical acclaim, especially Adil and Bilall’s outings, which added some much-welcomed visual flourishes to Earth-616. Then, in the spring of 2021, the filmmakers extended their hot streak when they signed on to direct the Dceu’s Batgirl for HBO Max. And to top it all off, in May of 2022, their Belgian film, Rebel, premiered at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival to strong reviews.

You’re watching your favorite show, and one of the main characters is in a jam.
He’s held captive by mercenaries and, for the past two episodes, has struggled to escape a labyrinthine prison. It’s unclear whether our hero will live or die, but the next episode opens with a warning: “The following contains a depiction of suicide. Viewer discretion is advised.” Welp, you think, I know how this story ends.
So what happens when trigger warnings need spoiler warnings? As content disclaimers trend in television, some viewers are taking issue when they give away crucial plot details or ruin surprises.
Take Netflix’s “Baby Reindeer,” which dulled a shocking assault scene with a preemptive warning reading, “The following episode contains depictions of sexual violence which some viewers may find troubling.” Or Apple TV+’s “Severance,” which tipped viewers off to an episode cliffhanger by revealing, “The following contains a depiction of self-harm.

If there had never been “The Tracey Ullman Show,” there likely would never have been “The Simpsons.” Too, without “Happy Days,” then “Laverne and Shirley” and “Mork and Mindy” would never have seen the light of primetime. Television series spinoffs have been a thing going back to some the earliest days of the medium itself, when “The Honeymooners” premiered in 1955 after beginning life as a series of sketches on “The Jackie Gleason Show” a few years earlier. Thus was born the concept of introducing a character or characters on a show that prove so popular it’s decided they deserve their own series.

There is nothing like having friends over for a good meal and conversation. That’s the basis for AMC Networks’ In the Kitchen with Harry Hamlin. The series on AMC+ and IFC shows the renowned actor, writer, and entrepreneur Harry Hamlin cooking delicious dishes with his niece and Le Cordon Bleu School-trained chef Renee Guilbault for famous guests. The pair hosted a holiday special with a similar format, which ended up being just the appetizer for what was to come. Each of the five episodes brings in another star-filled dinner party including Hamlin’s wife Lisa Rinna (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live), Ted Danson (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Mary Steenburgen (Book Club), Dean Norris (Breaking Bad), Tongayi Chirisa (Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches) and Ed Begley Jr. (Better Call Saul) to name a few. Here Guilbault shares what it was like growing up with her Uncle Harry,...

Plot: Detectives Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) are eager to settle down and enjoy middle age, but when their late, beloved captain (Joe Pantoliano) is framed as a corrupt cop, the two must go off the grid to help clear his name.
Review: Many may not realize it, but Bad Boys For Life was the highest-grossing domestic release of 2020. It made $426 million worldwide, just before the pandemic shut down movies for the rest of the year. It likely would have made even more money had its theatrical run abroad not been truncated. Why is Bad Boys: Ride or Die being treated as a bit less of a box-office event than it should be? Well, a lot has happened in Will Smith’s career since then, with his cachet as a movie star (perhaps) in jeopardy due to the infamous Oscar slap which rocked the industry and hurt his reputation.

At one point in Bad Boys: Ride or Die, one of the principal characters announces, “This is some dysfunctional shit!” With self-aware comments like that, who needs film critics? Not that reviews will matter to the devoted fans of the action-comedy buddy cop franchise that began three decades ago and whose antecedents date as far back as 1974’s Freebie and the Bean and Busting (feel free to cite even earlier ones). It’s a durable concept, even if this fourth installment feels more than a little strained.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the Belgian directing duo behind Bad Boys: Ride or Die, are what people are really talking about when they speak of Michael Bay. In these dark days of anonymous blockbusters with no personality or pop, it is indeed common for people to wax nostalgic about Bay, wishing that Bayhem would one day return to American screens in its full glory.
It’s a weird sentiment though, and not just because Bay hasn’t gone anywhere. But it’s strange because Bay was a byword among film fans of the 2000s and 2010s: shorthand for grotesque messes that emphasized single spectacular shots over basic visual storytelling. When people remember Michael Bay, then, they remember not the actual Bay, but rather the idea of Michael Bay: fun action, striking images, and a sense of humor.

Sarah Snook has found a successor to her Succession role: The Emmy winner will star as a mother whose son goes missing in the Peacock thriller All Her Fault, our sister site Deadline reports.
Snook is set to play Marissa, who “arrives at 14 Arthur Avenue, expecting to pick up her young son Milo from his first playdate with a boy at his new school,” according to the official synopsis. “But the woman who answers the door isn’t a mother she recognizes. She isn’t the nanny. She doesn’t have Milo. And so begins every parent’s worst nightmare.

Carol Burnett Raises Her Glass to a Life Spent in TV, from ‘The Carol Burnett Show’ to ‘Palm Royale’

Carol Burnett can’t wait for you to get her drink right.
At 91 years old, the radiant history-making actress and producer of variety television isn’t so much an impatient icon as she is excited to see you shine. According to Forbes, Godzilla Minus One was slated to drop on Netflix in virtually every country except America.
Forbes reported that the international markets of Australia, Malaysia, Germany, Italy, Belgium, and Spain were the only ones officially on the list.
This news left fans wondering when the throwback Godzilla movie would be able to rent, buy, or stream on a service in the United States.
This iteration of Godzilla is more like the original Godzilla movies that everyone grew up with, where he is a terror to the people of Japan and not the good guy in the more modern Monsterverse.

Weeks after Emmy nominee Giancarlo Esposito teased that he’d be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe “sooner than you think,” Variety can confirm that he will appear in “Captain America: Brave New World,” which hits theaters next year.
Esposito revealed he’d been cast in a Marvel project during a panel at Ccxp in Brazil earlier this month. There he squashed fan speculation that he’d play Professor X in the widely expected Marvel Cinematic Universe version of “X-Men.”
“There’s something about being original. We’ve seen different versions of Professor X,” Esposito told the crowd. “Wouldn’t you like to see me play a character in a Marvel movie who is original, and new, and fresh? So, mark my words: This will happen sooner than you think.”

In the first few episodes of Apple TV+ series Palm Royale, Carol Burnett is entirely horizontal. And rightly so, since her character Norma Dellacorte in a coma. Fortunately though, Norma recovers in time to rip through some seriously juicy scenes with Kristin Wiig, who names Burnett, who turned 91 in April, as her career inspiration. “When they told me who was going to be in it,” says Burnett, “Kristen Wiig and Allison Janney and Laura Dern and Ricky Martin and Julia Duffy, I said, ‘I don’t care what it is. I want to be a part of it.’” From Burnett’s early days hosting long-running comedy-variety series The Carol Burnett Show, to films like A Wedding, Annie and Mad About You, to Better Call Saul, she has blazed a trail, garnering seven Emmys, a Tony and a Grammy along the way. Here, she recalls some favorite memories, picks her best...

Mark Johnson has produced some of the most distinctive movies and TV shows of the past 40 years. Think “Good Morning, Vietnam,” “Rain Man,” “The Notebook,” “The Holdovers,” “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul.”
Yet Johnson was a surprise choice by AMC Networks to lead its massive investment in building out the Anne Rice literary universe in multiple TV series. AMC bought the TV rights to Rice’s literary vault of Southern Gothic vampire tales in 2020.
Four years later, AMC has two successful Rice-based series on the air — “Interview With the Vampire” and “Mayfair Witches” — and a third hot prospect in development: “Talamasca,” which explores a mysterious society within the Rice universe. Johnson had little experience with the fantasy and horror genres. But he was the perfect person to steer the Rice initiative, in part because he’s not steeped in the conventions and tropes of fantasy fiction, according to Dan McDermott,...

Well, this certainly was a cinematic rollercoaster that pushed the boundaries of pop culture crossovers. In a spectacular fan-made video that’s nothing short of peak cinema, we recently witnessed the indomitable Gus Fring (portrayed by Giancarlo Esposito) striding through the mayhem with his signature calm, while a pantheon of heroes tried to hinder his progress.
Indeed, we saw a number of acclaimed A-list action heroes of Tinseltown—from the muscular Arnold Schwarzenegger to the stoic resolve of Keanu Reeves’ character, even the lightning-fast reflexes of The Flash—struggle to hold Gus Fring back.

Recently, Giancarlo Esposito made headlines by expressing his desire to portray Professor X in the MCU, suggesting the character should not use a wheelchair, as Esposito does not see himself as that old. This sparked mixed reactions among fans, some of whom still hope that Patrick Stewart will remain the primary Charles Xavier in the MCU despite his character’s death in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.’
During a panel on Thunder Stage at Ccxp, Esposito confirmed his involvement in a Marvel project but clarified that it would not be as Professor X.
At the Phoenix Fan Fusion event, Esposito made a significant announcement: his role in the MCU will eventually be featured in a Disney+ series.

Giancarlo Esposito has certainly gained a reputation in Hollywood. When the Emmy nominations are announced July 17, something will happen that hasn’t happened in 50 years: The nominees for best drama series will include only one previously nominated show, Netflix’s The Crown. I would love to be able to say that’s because there are so many great dramas out there and that TV Academy members are diligently watching them and championing different great ones this year. But the truth is, this field, historically among the strongest each season, now looks like a wasteland.
Such perennial nominees as HBO’s Succession and Westworld and AMC’s Better Call Saul have ended, along with second-tier contenders like Paramount+’s The Good Fight and Star Trek: Picard. Some ongoing, previously nominated shows were not back in time to be eligible, in some cases because of delays caused by the writers and actors strikes, including Netflix’s Stranger Things, Squid Game and Bodyguard; HBO/Max’s Euphoria,...

Giancarlo Esposito doesn’t seem to have a lot of trouble finding work. The character actor extraordinaire boasts more than 200 credits on his IMDb page going back to the 1980s, and just in the past few years he’s recurred on “The Mandalorian,” “Godfather of Harlem,” “The Boys” and “Better Call Saul.” He’s a performer whose reputation precedes him, his screen presence consistently magnetic and oft intense. His career was supercharged by his portrayal of chicken entrepreneur and drug kingpin Gus Fring – first of “Breaking Bad” and then on “Saul.” Of his portrayal of Fring, he says, “I wanted to create a character who was formidable but who was (also) polite and graceful and who took care of his business family in a certain way. When you think about shows that have gone off the rails, Riverdale, Dexter, Game of Thrones, How I Met Your Mother, or Glee usually come to mind.
The majority of the time, it isn't enjoyable. The digression can make for poor television.
However, there are certain cases where it makes TV gold.
Creating Uniqueness
Keeping an audience interested and on the edge of their seats can be challenging.
We want to be enthralled, but that comes with the fact that doing this means changing plots, characters, or many other factors.
Going off the rails does not always have to be a negative thing.

Bad Boys apparently really are for life as it seems that this action-packed franchise isn’t ending anytime soon with Sony Pictures’ Bad Boys 4 set to reach theatres in just a couple months. This series, centered on detectives Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett of the Miami Police Department, has already produced three blockbuster films that have grossed over $840 million as well as a spinoff television show, L.A.’s Finest, making it one of the most successful buddy-cop action-comedy series in history. The Big Bang Theory is without doubt one of the most iconic ensemble cast series ever created. All the main characters of the nerd-centric comedy are relatable and at the same time quirky as hell. All the storylines explored in the series are either strange and really cringey, or sweet and meaningful. And that’s what makes it brilliant.
The main characters of the series are Howard, Leonard, Sheldon, Raj, and Penny. Later some of the new characters were added to the permanent cast and characters like Amy, Bernadette and Stuart appeared a lot more on the screen.
The most interesting thing though is about Stuart. The actor Kevin Sussman first auditioned for the role of Howard, but ended up being a looner named Stuart whose gig was to be miserable. However, in the episode called The Hofstadter Isotope he successfully hit on Penny and ended up dating her for a moment.
