Cinderella (2021)
Messily and Colourfully Magical of a Story
They also did a bit justice to the characters by rendering them some depth of emotion and path. But some of the characters were shallow, nothing to see on the outside. But who can blame them. The exterior facade is but an illusion to make others think what they should or must. Oh, I'm getting ahead of myself. Hold on this question in your mind: What if? That's what it is, right? A fantasy. A fantastical reboot to a fantastical story, but of a whole another story.
They didn't even haul the main couple down a hasty rollercoaster-of-a-relationship-road, not rushing things and letting them have time and just flow. They might be out-of-this-world with all the fun, literally, but this movie focuses on the story rather than the material sensibility, more than the original if that is what you're thinking. The music is just full of spiralling emotions, and the story, ever so feverishly colourful.
Atypical (2017)
Atypically atypical or just stereotypically atypical?
Although there are certain exaggerations, the plot has a nice authenticity to it. Everything having a consequence, it seems like a life. Though one can't wholly, necessarily, relate to the characters, it has its liveliness, because no one is wholly relatable. No is supposed to. Perhaps, a person with autism wouldn't relate to Sam, but his issues are real, though highly unusual and weirdly exaggerated. The representations throughout the series were realistic with Casey figuring herself out, Sue figuring out her purpose, and Doug trying to be a nice supportive parent, family and friend.
The series maneuvered over a pretty-much realistic pace. Not side-kicking other characters, the series subtly maintained its realism. Everyone have their own quirkiness, and their own quirk, good and bad. Though the series doesn't have the ideal representation of Autism, it has the ideal-though-not-perfect representation of family, friendship and all sorts of love. If you watch it, you can't help but fall in love with the story. Well, not necessarily, but that's been my experience.
Trese (2021)
An unconventional plot with a weird but vague scope. But is it worth watching?
It is indeed like no other film I've watched before. A bridge between the mystical and the humans, huh? I expected more, to be frank. It is one of a kind, but when it comes to logic, it lacks a lot. When a film is supposed to be of a fantasy genre, it needs its scripts and guidelines. Spells which are a bit difficult, not something short like 'sic itur ad astra'. You call that dark magic? The fantasy genre comes with a lot of hardship, and Trese, unfortunately, hasn't caught up.
Though the investigations could hardly be called tough, I liked the dynamic between the species and how the story as a whole was unfolding from the start. The fighting scenes were nice. The plot, quite intriguing. For an unorthodox film, it was pretty fascinating and enjoyable at the least.
The Mitchells vs the Machines (2021)
Ambitiously weird
No one is perfect. No family is perfect. But that (and the weirdness) is what makes them beautiful. Lots of things here might not make sense or might make you wonder if it is an actual film. That is because this movie is no ordinary film. This movie is one of the most ambitiously exaggerated (and weird) film I've ever seen.
'The Mitchells vs. The Machines' is an animated film about family. It may take you to artsy weird films, humans-loathing machines (wholly called Pal), even a human ripping a mechanical heart out of an advanced robot; but what's worth watching is the love the Mitchells have for each other, and their weirdness, of course. Every family is weird, if you ask me, in their own unique way. Do you want to see a colourfully animated and berserk family film? Then, you know what to watch.
Invincible (2021)
You wouldn't breathe!
This is an adult animated series adapted from the comic book series which goes by the same name. But this is nothing like the comics. Robert Kirkman sure knows how to bring a story onto the screens. It is unnerving, not that predictable, beyond average imagination. I'm not someone who always praises superhero stories and pours pleasantries on them, especially the ones including unexplainable powers and all the corners of the supernatural.
From the looks of it, Viltrum, Mark Grayson's dad's (Nolan Grayson's) home planet, is a planet of extremely evolved species. More like bazillions-of-years evolved. 'Invincible' revolves around Mark (and then some), who just got grasp of his supernatural abilities and is trying to figure out what kind of hero he wants to be, whilst going through and figuring out his own personal life issues. The characters.. well, they are just complex. The evil has some good and the good has some evil. The series takes you smoothly through the story.
Its not all gush and gory. Its the goodness vs. The capabilities and the possibilities, and this series does not stop at a certain point of morality and incapability. This story explores the maximum darkness in a person who lived his past with a distorted principle and a bloody way of life (literally). There is no limit which it can't cross. It is beyond expectations. There is nothing quite like 'Invincible'.
Chaos Walking (2021)
A disappointment! I had such great expectations.
A movie such as this shouldn't be so simple. There is no character development, no brief introduction to the native species (the Spackles) of the New World. Only one goal. She needs to communicate with her people. Are you excited about how it would be glancing at the unfiltered thoughts of the settlers? Well, abandon all that high expectations of yours. Sorry to disappoint, but the farthest their thoughts go out of filter is when Todd thinks of not letting Viola go, or kissing Viola manifested by his own Noise (twice). They failed to show how thoughts unfiltered can really be and how out-of-balance they could be. Seems like 'intrusive thoughts' is an alien concept to them.
It doesn't matter how much they traversed into the dark side; the behaviours, the thoughts, the concept of being heinous in 'Chaos Walking' seemed simple rather than complex, unreal rather than real.
Happiest Season (2020)
A Much-Needed Film, About Today's Hysterical Dilemma
Whilst the movie was boisterously priceless, it didn't lose the emotional reality. A predictable, but classic, movie which melts your heart with the love potency showed by various characters, especially the main couple. The film is filled with a lot of emotions, almost bottled up. This film is a movie about learning to open up, deals with an intimate dilemma a lot of people relates to. 'Happiest Season' is a heartwarming romantic comedy which might even fill you up with mixed emotions.
Run (2020)
Disappointing and Not Worth the Money
Before, I thought it would be an intriguing movie and one filled with suspense. Now, I am disappointed by the bleak story it holds. So many questions were just answered.. delicately. Kiera Allen though, delivered an apt performance. The concept of an 'evil mother' did not have a supporting story. You will meet with a few disappointments. It does however fit in the 'Mystery' criteria even though the mysteries were met with delicate answers.
Love, Victor (2020)
A bit realistic than 'Love, Simon' but more predictable and twisted..
I am not saying that 'Love, Simon' is not realistic. I am saying that the sequel has more flaws and complications than the prior film and it not only includes the cultures and conventions, but also the characters. The characters are not innocents like you might consider them to be. Victor has different ideas, different definition of what is wrong and what is right. Most of all, I despise the way Victor used Mia as a pawn in the journey of his sexual orientation. But who is perfect, right? And that is another reason that the Hulu Original Series may be helpful for teenagers in the journey of their own sexual orientation. Overall, the series is wonderful mostly because of the flaws in the characters. It makes the film worth watching.
Enola Holmes (2020)
A strikingly adventurous and exciting film
Even though the character of Sherlock was peculiar, the journey of Enola Holmes was rather adventurous and exciting to watch. I was not able to let my eyes go astray from the screen. The narrations of Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown) was nice. It kept the movie (mildly) humorous, not that it was not without them. Millie Bobby Brown always kept the excitement alive, not to mention Sam Claflin was great (but hilarious). The lifestyle, the lovely hobbies, the magnificent (and also callous) conventions of the Victorians were unveiled finely enough for a 2h 3m long movie. I absolutely loved the movie.
Let It Snow (2019)
Great for a movie date night.
It's a cute story about love, friendship, family. I've never seen such a different Rom-Com movie. It's beautifully written and played. A great storyline. It's like an 'All In One' Pack- Drama, Comedy, Romance. It's Cliché, but that's what I love about it. It's not stretched out like other Rom-Com movies or not much complicated, which makes it perfect especially for a movie date night.
The King (2019)
Great Work !!
'The King' is a Masterpiece. Timothée Chalamet was amazing as Hal (The King). The storyline is great. It keeps you awake every single second. Some of you might know that this is based on literature works (Henry V, Henry IV, Part 1, Henry IV, Part 2) by William Shakespeare, and hey.. who doesn't love Shakespeare's work ?(nobody)
The movie revolves around the 15th century. After his tyrannical father dies, Hal, wayward prince and heir to the English throne, is crowned King Henry V . Now the young king must navigate palace politics, the war his father left behind, and the emotional strings of his past life.
This is a historical drama movie, and this is the most amazing movie of that kind I've ever seen till now. It is intense, every actors in it acted strong, the cinematography was amazing. I cannot think of any other cast for this movie, they were amazing. It's an epic movie which will make you take no break in between. You must watch it, or you'll regret it later.
Looking for Alaska (2019)
Touching & Adventurous. Most Of All, I loved their friendship.
I love every single movie adaptation of John Green's novels. This hulu originals mini-series made me realise many things, showed me the real fun of students (boarding school students). "I go to seek a Great Perhaps."-were the last words of a French writer François Rabelais (who I haven't even heard about untill LFA). It inspired me. There are many like this and they are good too. All I want to inform you guys is that I loved it and it made me cry.
Miles "Pudge" Halter wants to gain a deeper perspective on life ( only because of François Rabelais' last words,, so he enrolls in boarding school. While he's there, he gains a group of loyal friends and falls in love with Alaska Young. When an unexpected tragedy strikes, the close-knit group of friends try to make sense of what they have been through.
My only suggestion is for you to watch the miniseries, because you can learn many things from these teens (ALERT: It contains adult contents including sexual contents, drinking, smoking etc..). Now you have to make the choice NOW.
It Chapter Two (2019)
IT is more poweful than ever, but IT did lose its usual chills after returning to Derry...
I waited so long for this sequel since I saw the first movie in 2017. I was longing to find out what happened to the Losers' Club, what happened to Derry and what happened.. to IT. What I liked about the first movie was the teenagers' friendship, their confidence and their teamwork. But now.. this sequel, it's all about IT. Well it's a good thing somewhat, but a little boring. This sequel is a lot different than the first one. It adds a lot memories and histories that weren't in the first one. I just wanna say that I loved the acting of every single actor in it, especially Bill Skarsgård who featured as Pennywise. But I am disappointed. What I loved about this movie is the memories and the teamwork scenes, which is lesser than in the IT (2017). IT isn't that terrifying than before. The story is good, but I expected more.
Can You Keep a Secret? (2019)
A nice movie with a plain plot but a great love story
It isn't a great watch, nor a fun one. Only some scenes are great, romantic or memorable. It wouldn't be great, but it does have some positive thoughts about serious relationships and their secrets. It's just too touching when it comes to relationships.
13 Reasons Why (2017)
Brian Yorkey still remembered to give us the chills, even if it's not that chilling as the Season 1
I just watched the last episodes of the Season 3 yesterday night and now I feel sorrow, disturbed, so much pain after I saw the teens, their difficulties, the crimes that they do. Some of them are bad & some of them are good, some pays for their sin, some doesn't, some pays for nothing. So, if there is any issues like suicide, sexual assualt, bullying, etc.. in your life, this series may not be right for you or you may not want to watch it alone, so watch it with your parents, your family or your friends.
This series explores the life of teenagers, their secrets, their connection, their sins. You may found it thrilling and mysterious. The season 3 may not be as thrilling as the season 1, but it's great. It's all about Homecoming night.
K-12 (2019)
It's a lot of Drama & it has a lot of Music
It is creative, but it is a lot of drama, they're overactive. I find it entertaining, and a bit boring.
It's a story about a girl and her best friends make a bewitching pair as they embark on a mission to take down the schooling system of K-12.
You would find it a little boring, but if you are a MM fan or a fan of Musical films, you should give it a try.
Late Night (2019)
Predictable but.. entertaining nonetheless.
It's good, funny and refreshing actually. It gives us the lighthearted perspective on serious topics. It is about an ill-tempered late night talk show host (Emma Thompson) who is in trouble of being fired due to low ratings in social media. But things changes when a first-time comedy writer (Mindy Kaling) enters into the office. She's actually the FIRST WOMAN WRITER EVER in writer's office and is clearly working from past experiences of a woman of colour working in a white male chemical plant (industry). Things start becoming good, reviews starting to become great, BUT they're still problems. The film's all about sorting things out.
Emma Thompson and Mindy Kaling were great and fun.
Men in Black: International (2019)
The Worst MIB Movie Ever!
It's enjoyable but... it is lacking a bit of excitement and the chill that the previous MIB movies had. Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson was likeable nonetheless, and amazing on the friendship dynamic the two had.
Batman: Hush (2019)
Different and Mysterious from other Batman Movies...
It's complicated. It's not like the other Batman movies I'd seen before. The Joker is humiliating ! But, the overall film is good,..mysterious and full of aventure. This film takes place after the 'Reign Of the Superman'. It's a good watch for those who like mystery type of films. In this film, many of the villains of Gotham city are seen, so..you wouldn't wanna miss it !
Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)
Full Of Surprises And Thriller !!!
I didn't expect this much from the sequel of Spider-Man: Homecoming, because Spider-Man: Homecoming was a total waste of time. But the sequel, it's an amazing thriller and is full of surprises which will make you more interested in Spider-Man. It's full of entertainment, action and thriller. This movie features Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio. Jake Gyllenhaal was great and amazing. Tom Holland was also great.
This action- packed sequel is the exploration of Peter Parker's grief and moving on in a post-Endgame world. In this film, Peter is having a hard time and have to either pick himself as a friendly neighbourhood or the next Iron Man.
Anima (2019)
The Videography was good and the Music...I loved it !
It is the most astonishing short film I've ever seen. It has so many meaning deep inside it. I liked Thom Yorke's type of music, it was perfect for this movie. Paul Thomas Anderson's direction was great. I especially loved how the movie unfolded and that includes the great performance from Thom Yorke and Dajana Roncione. The movie is Musical, Short and Illusionary.
Brightburn (2019)
Easily Predictable and Poor Direction
If you're a horror fan, you would absolutely like it because of it's brutality. This film shows that if Superman's motto was to 'Take The World' instead of 'Save The World' and be a hero to the world. Now, you can easily guess how it would end. It is an easily predictable movie with a high amount of horror but less exitement, because the kid kills many as he can for no reason like a Killing Machine or a Doomsday. The direction is poor and the filmography is average comparing to the 'Man Of Steel'. But it's a horror film which gives you the creep.
Chernobyl (2019)
An interesting and heroic story of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear explosion...
This story shows us how the people of Chernobyl overcome the terrible situation of 1986 Chernobyl nuclear explosion. This miniseries shows exactly how the situation was and what did Valery Legasov, Mr. Boris, the government and many other people who put their life at stake, do to prevent the radiation of the nuclear explosion from leaking widely to the outside world. I can't really think of the difficulties, the people of the Chernobyl and around Chernobyl went through.. I feel sorry for the people who suffered horribly and also for the many thousands of people who died horribly years after the incident.
As you can see, Ulana Khomyuk is just a fiction character created by the HBO studio representing many number of scientists who helped Legasov with his work, which made the story much more interesting.
This will be a rememberance of the real heroes who put their life at stake and also died due to radiation for their family and other people of Chernobyl.
I liked how HBO made it into an interesting story of the horrible incident which was also full of thriller and suspense. For Chernobyl !
Shazam! (2019)
It's Complicated !!
I didn't expect such Superhero Origin movie with Sarcastic jokes from the DC Universe. I know it's because there is a teenager boy in a superhuman's body, but it's DC !! DC isn't supposed to be like this. It's supposed to be DARK !! But it's overall good because it has some exciting scenes.
