The Acolyte: Destiny (2024)
Execute Order 66
Through the years I've been the biggest Star Wars supporter. Almost to the point where I would go out of my way to find the good in everything they release. To be quite frank, I just sounded dumb. I try my best to make sense of The Rise of Skywalker. I'm that kind of Star Wars fan. But I think this might be the episode that has finally done it for me. I think I'm done. I've watched a lot of bad Star Wars and it seems to be getting worse yearly but this might be the worst that I've ever seen. I've tried my best in my head to make sense of it, but sometimes the answer is that it just absolutely sucks. We've reached the point where they don't even try to hide, their agendas. I hate being the person to say this, I really really hate it but it's obvious. When I look back into the past, I will remember this episode as the reason I have stopped watching Star Wars. I'm one person and it doesn't matter what I say, but I'm just expressing my feelings here in this review. I've officially lost faith in them. I am done giving any of my time and money to new stuff. Time and time again they have disappointed me. It's obvious they don't care about their fan base and are content catering to a small group
of blue haired individuals. Well.... I hope it was worth it because your product is dying... heck it's on life support. Time to execute order 66 on the shows creator and Lucas film president. Wow this was just a horrible 40 minutes that I'll never get back. I feel dirty hating it this much but it's just that bad.
Testament: The Story of Moses (2024)
Depends on what you're looking for
So whether you like this or not really depends on why you are watching. Are you watching just to be entertained or are you watching To learn something about the Bible? If you were watching for entertainment then I think most people will be entertained by this because it's a story that we all are familiar with. If you are someone who has studied the story, you may be slightly frustrated in certain parts. It's not that it's bad by any means but I find that one of the experts that speak on the subject, An older lady, really tries to romanticize the whole story and seems to add a lot of her own details. If you were one that studies the Bible, you would know that a lot of these details aren't even in the story, but she is adding them in which can be a little bit frustrating and can cause inaccuracies in the storytelling. Generally, the story is correct, but like most Netflix shows, they take artistic liberty. I really wish this lady would just speak about the scriptures the way they were written rather than give her interpretation. It's all right there.
With that said, I was entertained. The story and the show in itself is decent and I think it's worth a watch.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 22: Guns for Hire (2023)
Decent episode, has its moments
I've noticed that there is been a little bit of hate on this episode. Maybe heat is a bit strong, but there have been people that don't like it because of deviate from the main story. As an every season through our side missions that need to be accomplished. While ultimately accomplishing a goal at the end, the episode shows what they have to do to get there. While not the best episode of the season, it's definitely not the worst. The episode expands on some of the information that we have been given throughout the first two seasons, as well as some new information. It ends strongly and sets up the last two episodes, as well as most likely new shows to come.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
A tale of two shows
The book of Boba Fett is definitely a tale of two shows. You have the Boba Fett storyline, and you have the Mandalorian storyline. The Boba Fett storyline in itself isn't too bad. When it does start to lack is when they start to use filler, which is never fun. When they stick to the script and keep the story moving along, it's a pretty good and engaging show. Then you have the episodes with the Mandalorian. It's a bit weird that two of the episodes are dedicated strictly to the Mandalorian, but we need to remember that the show is basically a sub chapter of the Mandalorian. It literally gives us two of the best episodes of Star Wars television that we have seen so far. I can definitely say that one of the episodes, for me at least, is the best live action episode so far. There are a couple real special treats for fans of both the live action shows, and the animated shows. I think the Book of Boba Fett is a good watch, and I think the two Mandalorian episodes are definitely a special treat that need to be watched in order to help you understand a little bit better of what is going on in the third season of the Mandalorian. Give it a shot.
A Christmas Story (1983)
I don't even celebrate Christmas and this is the greatest Christmas movie ever
As I said in the title, I don't celebrate Christmas. With that said, I enjoy a good Christmas film here and there. There's some good stuff out there now that I'm in my 40s I've seen pretty much all of the good ones and I can easily say with all honesty that this is by far my favourite one. Now someone might not say this is the best one and I can understand that. The story is slow moving. There isn't a ton of action it's not a belly laugh comedy but what it is, is an all American average family going through this time of year and the funny things that happened to them. The story is perfection
.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
A true marvel in film making
Ok I'll state the obvious first, this is the greatest visual experience I've ever had in a theatre. The special effects are next level and the 3D is outstanding.
Ok now onto the story. Avatar for some reason has gotten a bit of a bad rap during the last 10+ years since it's release. I get that the story itself wasn't the most original. Well I think this makes up for it. The story, while not being citizen Kane, is pretty good. It's interesting and keeps you engaged until the end. Finally the ending sets up part 3 very well.
Make sure you watch it in 3D, You won't be disappointed. Its fantastic.
A Christmas Story Christmas (2022)
This is the movie no one asked for yet we all needed. Perfection
I can't even begin to tell you how much this is needed. To be honest, I was really really sceptical when I heard that they were making a sequel. In my opinion, a Christmas story is the best Holiday movie ever made. So to fiddle with that can be very touchy. Thankfully they did the original movie justice and expanded on the original story. They didn't change any of the original events which made me really happy. It's amazing how through the years Ralphie has gotten older, but somehow looks exactly the same. It's a feel good movie which touches on a lot of nostalgia and tugs at your heartstrings. I cried through most of it... and that last scene. OMG, brings it all together. Just perfect.
Beautiful movie, and well done.
House of the Dragon (2022)
Brings us back to what we once loved
What I mostly like about what I've seen so far is that the show brings us back to the simple things which we loved about Game of Thrones. Of course there is a giant budget and will eventually lead to bigger battle scenes but early on It peels back all the supernatural element from the later seasons of Game of Thrones and gives us the political in working and scheming that made Game of Thrones so interesting. The show very much has an early season Game of Thrones vibe to it so far. Also starting the episode with the Game of Thrones theme song was pretty awesome and very unexpected. I was a bit sceptical about the show but so far is had a very solid start. Being someone who has already read the fire and blood novel I can say that the show has been very faithful to the source material so far. If they stick to the story the show can be one of the all time greats.
Backstory: Serena vs. The Umpire (2019)
Of course this became about sex and race
Come on guys. Does everything need to be about race and gender? This was a very simple incident, a lot of us watched it happen in life. I know that I did. Serena Williams got coaching advice from the stands which is illegal and was penalized. It has nothing to do with her race or her gender. It was about a tennis player breaking code of ethics and receiving a violation. Then proceeded to swear at the umpire multiple times which is another violation. I'm not sure what this has to do with her being a woman but of course with society today that's what they tend to focus on in the documentary. Come on guys you are better than this.
This is about a spoiled athlete that did something wrong and then try to correct that by doing something else that was wrong. Simple as that.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part V (2022)
About... Damn... Time!!!
Finally!!! We're been waiting 5 episodes and we finally get what we wanted.
First off we get some flashbacks with Anakin and Kenobi. Nothing huge but we get some. Which is great.
Second, we finally find out what Reva wants.
Third we finally find out what the deal with the Grand Inquisitor is.
Finally we get a great cliffhanger with Reva possibility hunting Luke. Let's go!!!
I loved this episode.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part IV (2022)
Let's be real here....
Ok folks, let's get real for a second.
Let me start by saying this was probably the weakest episode of the show so far. With that said, it wasn't a bad episode at all. It wasn't great but definitely not bad. Typically with most shows the middle is when they add some filler. This was somewhat of a filler episode but not all filler.
Obiwan has a mission to complete and it takes the episode to do it. That's fine. My biggest gripe is that it was really short.
Ok I'm gonna say it. I hate Reva. She's the worst. With that said, that's how she's written. She's meant to be annoying and for the audience to dislike her. She takes up a bit too much screen time for my liking. Is it the actresses fault? No. Could she play the part better... ya. But if the point of the character is to be dislikes then she's doing great. But ya I don't care for her. But I think that's the point.
We need more Obi wan and Vader. With two episodes left I hope we get it. Obviously they can't have them on screen together the whole series so I think we should be realistic here. If we get at least a full episode then I will be satisfied. Let's remember that we only got a few minutes in episode four and episodes 123 were a completely different deal. Anyway hopefully moving forward they give us what we want and I think ultimately they will.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part II (2022)
And finally the moment has arrived
And finally the moment has arrived.... We finally get to see the moment that Obi-Wan finds out Anakin is still alive. The show did a good job with it. They didn't overdo it for corny dramatic affects. And ending the episode with Vader opening his eyes was just perfect. The character of Reva it's kind of annoying but since none of her story has been flushed out besides her being the child in the temple when the show starts, I'm sure she has some sort of reason for being the way she is. I'm a little bit confused as to why the retconned Rebels with the death of the Grand Inquisitor. I guess we will see what happens. Another fantastic episode.
Brendan Schaub: You'd Be Surprised (2019)
What? Why?
Brendan isnt a funny guy. He just isn't. It's not his fault. He's not a bad podcasted but comedy isn't for him.
I'm giving this a 2 and not a 1 because one joke made me laugh.
The Gringo Papi (2022)
if I had to say one good thing...
The only improvement there has been between the first special and this one is that this one is half the time. This was a tough one to get through.
I feel bad for the guy because he really is trying and I gave him all the credit in the world but he just isn't funny. He has moments but he doesn't seem to know when they are.
Bel-Air (2022)
It's not supposed to be the original
The people that expect this to be the same as the original are very disillusioned. The point isn't to be a copy. It's the same foundation as the original but an adult version. The characters all hair their own different struggles. If you want the original comedy version go stream it somewhere. Good job so far. Well done.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 6: From the Desert Comes a Stranger (2022)
Could this be the greatest episode that they've given us so far?
Could this be the greatest episode that they've given us so far? In my opinion the finale of the Mandalorian season two was the best episode in the whole TV saga but after watching this episode it makes that choice a pretty tough one. The amount of fan service that they gave us was incredible. It didn't come across as cheap or them just trying to please the viewers. Everything they gave us worked into the story. The work that they did on Luke Skywalker is leaps and bounds ahead of last seasons version. With a few little glitches in the mouth I have to say that this version is Pretty darn close to perfect. I do think they can improve on it slightly but I think this almost as good as we can get. From watching grogu train to the appearance of Ahsoka, what could we want? Luke giving some old old school Star Wars lore, to grogu remembering a little bit of order 66. The episode gave us everything we would want and more. And then they really go for it and give us one of the coolest animated characters in real life.... CAD BANE!!!! What???!!! Cmon!! Honestly anyone giving this less than a 9 is crazy. I can't see either one of the shows getting better than this And I am OK with that. This is probably the best Star Wars that we have gotten since return of the Jedi. May the force be with Jon and Dave.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 7: In the Name of Honor (2022)
Solid episode and they gave us what we expected
OK first things first. To those that expected some thing insane I understand but also they need to except that the last two episodes were two of the best episodes we've gotten in the entire Mandalorian saga. So the fact that we didn't get Luke Skywalker flying down swinging his Lightsaber around shouldn't be a surprise. I would assume that creating Luke would cost way too much money in general and it really dilutes the emotional feeling that we get when he does show up. We knew that this episode was going to be a fire fight so now I should be surprised that the entire episode was just that. The fact that grogu showed up should be enough to make us happy going into the next season of the Mandalorian. I understand people may have wanted more from the season but this is what we got. The show gave us little snippets earlier on that paid off, such as Boba riding the rancor. To be honest the real issue with the show is that they give us such great episodes like episode five and six that when you get just a regular good episode like this one people look at it as a bust. If we took this as a standalone episode apart from the other ones people would love it. It clearly sets up a second season so no one needs to worry. I think a lot of the stuff that people wanted will be making their appearance next season. Let's just enjoy what they gave us and not complain that they didn't give us more.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 5: Return of the Mandalorian (2022)
The episode we all needed but didn't know it.
Let me start off by saying the book of Boba Fett is a solid show. Besides one slow episode they have been all great so far. But to catch up with Mando is a special treat. When the Mandalorian finally does come out it'll be two full years so it's really nice to have an episode dedicated to him. It's actually not a bad idea because it lets the viewer know what he has been doing since the events of season two so that when the Mandalorian season three comes out we don't need to revisit what happened after the finale. It sets up a lot of his story moving forward on his own show and also sets up his role in the book of Boba Fett. I also really enjoy the fact that they show someone trying to take the dark sabre under the rules of combat. Now that they showed it during this episode they might show it less during season three, which is fine with me. I really like what they have done with this episode and moving forward they will be together. Let's see how it plays out. But they definitely definitely have given the fans what they want. Now there's just one little green guy that's missing and the circle will be complete.
Dexter: New Blood: Sins of the Father (2022)
For those upset, RELAX. Solid episode
For the people. Upset about this ending, Relax! I'm not saying this about everyone but some of these people definitely dont have kids. To understand what a parent will do to save their child, only a parent truly gets it. So yes Jim let Harrison kill him. No surprise there. Jim saved his kids from a life of running, being afraid, paranoid. Or worse a life where he has to see his dad get arrested as the bay harbour butcher. Relive all his murders, all his jail time and his execution.
Jim knows there's only one way out. Yes Dexter broke his code, let's not act like we're shocked here. This isn't the first time.
So the only way for Harrison to be left alone is for Dexter to die. Everything gets pinned on him. Dexter has never truly experienced love, he said it himself. Not until he had a child. He had to go.
Ok now I'll be realistic, did I want to see a crazy twist ending, of course. We all build up some crazy ass ending in our heads. Well this time we got a clean ending. Not bad at all. There actually was an ending this time. Let's be grateful.
But really, to those that don't get why Dexter basically killed himself, what were his options? The show had to end. This was a great season.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 2: The Tribes of Tatooine (2022)
Fantastic Episode
As this episode continues Bobas story moving forward it mainly deals with his past. Amazing episode. Definitely better than ep 1 but if all the other episodes are this good then I'll be happy. The ending was predictable but 100% not in a bad way. If anything you're waiting for it to happen. Fantastic episode.
The Beatles: Get Back: Part 2: Days 8-16 (2021)
A bit long but good nonetheless
I found that this part could have been 30 or so minutes shorter. With that said, it has some pretty interesting story lines with the band dealing with the George situation. My favourite is Paul pretty much predicting perfectly how the Beatles wild break up. He saw the writing on the wall with John and Yoko. It was just a matter of time. And speaking of Yoko,
Dammit woman can you give John more than 6 inches of space? The other wives of gf's are barely there but Yoko never leaves. I give the guys credit for not losing it. Talk about a stage 5 clinger. Just wow. Anyway it's a good episode, worth the watch.
The Beatles: Get Back (2021)
Amazing But just one thing....
After watching the first part of this documentary, I couldn't help but feel stressed out for the band as they put pressure on them selves to meet the deadline. A great job is done directing this and it's a true treasure of unseen footage. Just one thing.... Yoko is ALWAYS THERE!! Literally just sitting there saying nothing and staring.... All... the... time!! Wow... just wow. I guess we all have a friend whose spouse is always hovering lol. Anyway I'm excited for part 2. That's all.
The Harder They Fall (2021)
Do yourself a favour and watch this
I was little sceptical about watching it but with the cast of actors it was hard not to and I wanna say this movie delivered far more than I would've expected. A throwback to Blaxploitation films of years past, nothing about this comes across as racially forced or awkward. So I want to throw that out there right now, no criticism about this movie and race should be valid or even listened to because that's ridiculous. This is the type of movie that is being made. It's being made like this for a specific reason and that reason is artistic. And to be honest it really has nothing to do with the storyline the characters or anything, it just is what it is. Let's move on.
With that said I think it's a really cool movie with witty dialogue and interesting characters. Even the lesser characters are made to be interesting. The movie delivers with a simple but intriguing story but I won't spoil it for anyone. Make sure you watch it, the ending is a banger.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: You've Got to Be a Football Hero (1993)
Good twist on a classic tale
It's a decent episode of a good show. The story has been told before but this time with a different twist. One thing I found really funny was that the actor playing Hank Farley it's supposed to be in college but in reality was pushing 40 LOL not sure about the casting there LOL. Good episode though.
White Men Can't Jump (1992)
Snipes character is... ummm
This movie was great when I was a kid, it holds up now that I'm an adult. As I age I notice that Wesley Snipes character is kind of a piece of crap lol. He makes up for it though. Woody isn't any better. He has his own issues as well. Horrible boyfriend. Gambling problems. Sheesh, what a mess.
With that said, it's a fun movie and gives us the classic line.... "white men can't jump"
One knock is Rosie Perez's voice is like an air raid siren lol.
